phoneman69 Posted March 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2017 So we have the cruise booked and I wanted to do the Check in. Both mine and the wife's passports are expired. We completed the passport renewal form this week end and along with the check off to the State Dept. Can I use are old passport info to check in? Do passport numbers stay the same or will our new passport have a differ number. Can I complete check in with out this info our should I just wait until our new passports arrive. Thanks Matt
Rare shof515 Posted March 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2017 you can check in using your old passport. if the numbers do change, you can always go back and change it. I think online checkin needs to be done midnight before the sail date

Rare broberts Posted March 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Why not wait to for the new passports to complete that section?
cb at sea Posted March 8, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2017 If this is a "closed loop" cruise, you don't even need passports...especially, to register! Just fill out the other stuff, and bring your new passports with you. Not a big deal at all.
riffatsea Posted March 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Your new passport will have a new number. You should get it within 3 weeks.

The4Cruisers Posted March 8, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2017 You will need one if something happens and you need to fly home. Not true. A passport will make it a lot easier to get home. But it is not mandatory.

SadieN Posted March 8, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) Will the check in program even allow an expired passport to be entered? Edited March 8, 2017 by SadieN Auto-correct didn't correct correctly sigh
GROUCHPUSS Posted March 8, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Complete check in by saying you have a birth certificate and it will skip the passport number - you can always go back in and put the new numbers in when you get them back. This is what I have done in the past. If I am too lazy to go get them out of the safe or in a hurry. Then just give them your passport when you arrive at port. No issues at all. Rare Essiesmom Posted March 8, 2017 #14 Share Posted March 8, 2017 You can't do online checkin with an expired passport. It will ask exp. date and reject it. Even if it is not yet expired but will be by the time you sail the computer will reject it. EM

phoneman69 Posted March 8, 2017 Author #18 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Thanks for all the comments. With the new staggered check in / boarding times I did not know if completing the online check in early would help me get on the ship faster. IE a earlier check in time. Maybe ill try the birth certificate until our new passports arrive. Matt
Herfnerd Posted March 8, 2017 #19 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Not true. A passport will make it a lot easier to get home. But it is not mandatory. In an emergency, time can be of the essence. Waiting around to getpermission from the embassy is not fun......

Once Carnival adds the select check-in time to your sailing, everyone can access it, regardless of whether your online check-in has been completed or not. And getting the earliest check-in time does not guarantee you will get on the ship faster.
Gamecock_Cruiser Posted March 8, 2017 #21 Share Posted March 8, 2017 You can select the check in time as soon as you book. At least we could. Thanks for all the comments.
