81dollar Posted January 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2018 We're on the Equinox now, this was the last sailing with the Corning Museum of Glass Hot Glass Show on the Equinox. The other ships will have the show phased out in the next few months. The venue is being renovated as we speak (the last show was the second to last day of our cruise). The three artists and their manager wouldn't say what was happening with the venue exactly, other than Celebrity is keeping the glass blowing equipment on board for an interactive guest experience with a different vendor (not Corning). He did say that it would be a paid experience, which did not fit with the museum's mission. We’re lucky to have caught the last show, as this was our first cruise on a ship with the glass show (previously on Reflection and Summit twice each). NjoyNmytime Posted January 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2018 So sad. I am on the Equinox in October and was looking forward to it.
Fouremco Posted January 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2018 Too bad. I hope that it's still up and running on the Eclipse in March.
Rare Cruise Junky Posted January 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2018 Ah, that is disappointing. It was such a unique feature but I guess it doesn't make money.
luvincruising Posted January 26, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2018 Thank you for posting. I had hoped that they would hold-off ending the show until after our March cruise. To Celebrity: Your customers really enjoyed this program. Please add-on a new program that is as good or better, without your hand in our pockets. <|3 (n)
ClaudiaB Posted January 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2018 Sad. I went to the shows every day on every cruise they were on, on 8 cruises.
Mr. Click Posted January 27, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2018 That is sad news, really sucks. I still have a large print of a photography I made of a piece of hot glass coming out of the oven hanging in my living room. Really sucks but I guess that is the way of the future now. More pay venues.
daisy-mae Posted January 27, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2018 That's a shame. The artists all seemed very dedicated to their craft; it was a wonderful opportunity for them, and such a unique experience for the passengers (aka "guests"). I guess the novelty had worn off... Talex831 Posted January 27, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I was disappointed that the show wasn’t on the Silhouette, but we loved the Lawn Club Grill so it was all good. But then again the Corning Museum of Glass is only an hour away from home. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
PROCRUISE Posted January 27, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Very sad. I guess if a venue on the ship is educational and entertaining, you must pay for it on Celebrity?
gerelmx Posted January 27, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Hopefully we have the opportunity to see the show in March, and wait to see what happens in the future
Rare Hlitner Posted January 27, 2018 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Not surprised. LLP (Celebrity's CEO) is all about the bottom line....and turning another space into a profit center is all too typical. As a stockholder we applaud her efforts. As a frequent cruiser, we now favor other lines :(. For the first time in recent memory (probably the past 10 years) we have no Celebrity cruises booked or planned. We continue to cruise over 70 days a year....but there are just too many other better options. We will likely book future cruises on Celebrity...but it might be far in the future and only after their are some favorable changes...rather than constant cut-backs and new attempts at nickel and dimeing. Rare hcat Posted January 27, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Scrounging for every dollar they can.... The show was very creative and unique,.. Any pay for glass venue will be another area we do not patronize...
YoJo19 Posted January 27, 2018 #14 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Wow, the glass show was the exact reason I chose the Equinox over other ships for our March cruise. It's a sad day. Sent from my SM-N950U using Forums mobile app
39august Posted January 27, 2018 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Very, very disappointed. Will be on Equinox in July and Sept. I'm sure there will be a Grill in place of it. Was so looking forward to the glass show.

MR_T Posted January 27, 2018 #17 Share Posted January 27, 2018 What great news, I never did see the attraction of the glass show.. sat there for a few mins once and had to leave as boredom was setting in fast... I know some love it but for me, I personally Would like to see the addition of the lawn grill up there or maybe it’ll be a new type of dining venue... CaribbeanBound Posted January 27, 2018 #18 Share Posted January 27, 2018 The Glass Show was why we booked the Equinox over the sister ships without it. It is a great, very educational, very interesting, very entertaining show. We went back again and again. Frankly, it was our favorite entertainment venue on the ship. We even bought a really nice piece during the auction. Bummer.
Poconolady Posted January 27, 2018 #19 Share Posted January 27, 2018 No!!!! I loved the glass show, it was about the only artistic creative activity onboard. I passed many hours there on several transatlantic cruises. Sent from my iPad using Forums
madcitymaven Posted January 27, 2018 #20 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Very sad news! We were looking forward to seeing this on our April 2018 Equinox cruise. It sounds like one more example of =X= looking for ways to squeeze money from their guests.
Ozzmund Posted January 27, 2018 #21 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I saw the show the last two times we were on the Equinox. While it was educational and the artist quite talented, I did not stop to see it while on the Eclipse this past November. I will be fine with a new experience. elh1 Posted January 27, 2018 #22 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Am on the equinox in two weeks and was really looking forward to finally seeing the glass show. Had been looking forward to it since they started , but of this class of ship I had only been on the reflection. So frustrating that I’m just missing it ☹️ Have been to the Corning glass museum in New York and it’s great.
Silkroad Posted January 27, 2018 #23 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I’m very disappointed that I’ll never have the chance to see the Corning glass show on Equinox. It sounded like a very unique and interesting shipboard activity. Ah well, now I have no specific reason to choose Equinox over one of her sisters. I suspect this is only one of the areas that will change as we enter the Edge era. Thanks very much for posting the photo 81dollar! I’m glad you were able to experience the final shows:)
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 27, 2018 #24 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I have three cruises booked on S-class ships -- which are all going to be cancelled because of this change -- on top of many others. It may not seem like that big of a deal, but it is the straw that broke the camel's back.
