The question I had... where did the guy get the KNIFE?? We had not hit a port yet, so he had to bring it on in LA!! These type of things happen all the time in our cities... we just don't expect them to happen on our vacations!! It's a bit disturbing!! Or from dinner.....??? So, please don’t justify murder with either of these tired excuses. I do not think anyone was "justifying" murder. They just pointed out it may have played a factor. And the fact that some folks can get falling down drunk and not do anything bad, and another person can have one drink and go into a rage does not mean much of anything either. It was very early in the morning/late at night and a "possible" contributing factor MIGHT be drinking. One could come up with a handfull of assumptions and only some would turn out correct. Again, I did not see anyone "justify" murder - or the cause.

Wishing on a star Posted November 15, 2018 #60 Share Posted November 15, 2018 WOW.... I am SO sorry for everyone in this tragic situation. My husband had his small pocketknife taken upon boarding on our last cruise... They admitted that it didn't make a lot of sense, because the steak-knives onboard are more dangerous. That being said... My husband openly had this in his pocket.. habit. But I imagine it would be easy to to bring one onboard, stashed away somewhere. The casino is not on deck 16. The photo shows the starboard side of the ship and indicates the forward most life boat is #2. That is wrong. The boats on the starboard side have odd numbers while the ones on the port side have even numbers.
SakeDad Posted November 16, 2018 #62 Share Posted November 16, 2018 According to ABC News tonight the husband was questioned as a witness and is NOT a suspect. So it will be interesting to see just who she was arguing with once the video evidence is released. Very sad all the way around. 1
Lucky TGO Posted November 16, 2018 #63 Share Posted November 16, 2018 Do you remember when we went on a cruis to have a good time? It’s getting really crazy now! The Steak House gives you a knife to cut your steak and it's sharp. I snicker when security confiscates pocket knives. It's like they give you a big steak knife in the steak house, very easy to steal one, if one wants to murder someone. BTW, cruise ships are nothing but floating cities. Sarahlm84 Posted November 16, 2018 #66 Share Posted November 16, 2018 My parents and sister/brother in law are currently on this ship. They have been asked not to post about the situation for the privacy of all involved. I am just really wanting my family off of the ship and hope which they will be tomorrow, THANKFULLY. I know there is chatter going on with passengers on the ship but there are few people that know truly what happened that night/morning leading up to the passing of this passenger. I will add that I have thought all week that they had the person involved. Now learning they do not has my anxiety at an all time high. 24 hour and counting. I will feel much better once I know my family is safe and on land in Florida.

Well they have been asked not to post anything regarding it since it happened. Some just can’t help but to comment. My family texted me from Bonaire to tell me that they are safe and still enjoying the trip although there was an issue early in the week.

It is just a poor attempt by the ship to hush up an event that might impact sales. If other passengers witnessed an event they have no obligation to withhold comment. There is no violation of privacy describing public events or reporting rumors surrounding events.
Expat Cruise Posted November 16, 2018 #70 Share Posted November 16, 2018 Agreed the Cruise Line is just trying to keep control of the PR. That said they can block web sites and do have a history of doing so. Princess could have blocked the CC site in the ships WiFi.

At 4:30 am there was a ship wide security announcement broadcast directly into the cabins. Security personnel was told to gather on deck 7. Another announcement was made shortly after that only broadcast in the halls and common areas. This morning as we docked in Aruba the captain came on the announcement channel and said that there was a serious incident and no one could leave as local authorities were coming onboard. 6 or 7 local police officers arrived but they were wearing all black with police on their backs. They got on the ship around 8:15 AM Around 8:45 two forensics vans showed up and two technicians went aboard. All morning they have been frantically paging people from lido deck and have security set up outside the hallway to the forward lido rooms They also have the promenade deck port side roped off with caution tape. All the police are now in the symphony dining room on deck 5. Does anyone else have any information what happened? I heard it was a murder? Can’t even be safe on a cruise ship these days. garycarla Posted November 16, 2018 #75 Share Posted November 16, 2018 Of course the Cruise Line wants to keep it rather quiet. Do not blame them at all. Can not believe the knife thing continues to pop up. As to the staff keeping track in the dining room - that is another laugh. Along with being very difficult, they have knives available in the buffet that NOBODY could keep track of. Really folks, do you think it is that hard to have a knife in your luggage? LOL! As to anyone worried about their family getting home - there should be no more concern than any other trip. Just one incident.
