Babcia7 Posted March 8, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2019 We went on Uniworld's Madrid to Lisbon trip last July with a week on the Douro. The Douro is absolutely beautiful, and we loved our time in Madrid and on the ship, even though we we were there during the scorching heat. It was refreshing to have the pool on the ship! This summer we'll be on Crystal Bach's Rhine and Moselle. Although we have always enjoyed our trips with Uniworld, Crystal's itinerary was a better fit for us.
jrkstl Posted March 8, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2019 We leave for our 5th Viking cruise in three weeks - it’s the “Passage to Eastern Europe” itinerary from Budapest to Bucharest. Doing the post-cruise trip to Transylvania. Can’t believe that time is almost here Jeff
Rare jpalbny Posted March 8, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 8, 2019 No river cruises for us this year. Too many other plans, and not enough vacation time. But we are in the early planning stages, trying to organize a week in the Douro region this fall. We'd go independently and land-based from Lisbon to Madrid, or the other way, depending on the logistics. So, a river trip, just not a river cruise.

pacmom Posted March 8, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 8, 2019 We leave on June 20 for our CroisiEurope Berlin to Amsterdam cruise. We are going on our own to Luxembourg and Brussels post cruise. Since we have already spent a good bit of time in Amsterdam, we are leaving the cruise one day early and taking the train to Luxembourg. It was quite a bit cheaper to take the train in first class than to fly. It takes longer, but will be a restful day. Love the trains in Europe, Then in Sept. we are going on an OAT small ship cruise from Malta to Venice emphasis on Eastern Italy. and maybe a port trip to Trieste. Rock etchings from 30,000 years ago to several hundred years ago. Loved Lisbon. Walked to the excellent Gulbankian Museum from hotel Corinthia, our Uniworld hotel. https://www.flickr.com/photos/seacoast_nh/albums/72157692717046770 In 2019, 3 generations are going on Viking's Paris to Normandy with daughter's family doing a Loire Valley chateaus tour on their own post cruise. We're taking the Commonwealth tour of Normandy beaches to see the Bayeux tapestry (HS grandkids AP history class). Hopefully, we will not forfeit our US passports as a result.

Pat I did that OAT trip but in reverse last August. Malta was amazing! I’d been to quite a few of the ports before but really enjoyed the trip...except the fact it was 95-105 every day.
