While I will pickup a one cent piece, someone studied the issue a few years ago and concluded that picking up a 5 cent nickel was worth the risk of bending over, but a one cent piece was too risky for the reward.

Exactly how would Princess enforce a policy that didn't allow you to use your nonrefundable OBC?

Princess already codes the OBC in their system as refundable or non-refundable.  If they wanted they could code certain charges to ensure that the OBC couldn't be  used.  Fortunately that doesn't appear to be the case yet.  Somehow the financial coding makes it that non-refundable is consumed first in your onboard charges.

It is all software, and limitations probably aren't coded yet due to varying requirements from different OBC offerings.  (e.g. some are general, some cite can't be used for XYZ.

Unless it's head's up!!  Then it brings you good luck!  I only pick up a penny that is head's up.

Casino. Put non-refundable amount (after you account for all future deductions) into a slot machine. Play for as long as you desire (win a little, lose a little...it's "free" $), then cash out.

Can you also do this on the Ocean Medallion ships? Thanks.

This will work for residents from the USA, but if us Canucks do this, would we not get the cash back in US $, then have to exchange it to Canadian Dollars once we get home, and would lose on the exchange rate.....perhaps better to wait and receive a cheque in the mail...jmo

No check in the mail for non-refundable OBC. It's use it or lose it.

You don't get a check for non-refundable.

I was told OBC for Veterans was only $100.00. We are in a balcony does the type of cabin determine the OBC?

Depends on the length of the cruise. $50 for 1-6 days, $100 for 7-13 and $250 for 14-on up. Type of cabin has no affect on the amount.

Huh?  Surely you must have need for USD from time to time each year?

BTW, how would you get any legitimate OBC back in CAD in any case since the On Board Account is never in CAD and usually in USD???

This should help. Also, once submitted your file is marked and you receive the military benefit automatically on any future Princess cruise.

But there is one thing that you need to make sure of if you're going through a travel agent and that is you need to make sure that the agent puts your Captains' Circle number into the reservation as that is what your Veterans' OBC is linked to. If they don't put that CC number in, your OBC will not be added to your cruise reservation. Whether it can be added later when you're already on the ship for that cruise, I'm not sure. I would guess that it probably could if you went to the Captains' Circle office on the ship and had them add your CC number to your account, but that's just a guess on my part.
