Yes it is acceptable  but Evening Chic does not apply to Luminae, Blu or the Specialties, only the Main Dining Room.  Has been that way for several years.  Luminae is smart casual every night.

I would say Yes.  Even though suggested attire is for a more dressed up evening, I have seen many people still in jeans and polo shirts in all of the dining venues.  About the only time I have seen people turned away is for wearing shorts and/or flip flops to the MDR in the evening.We have alwlays enjoyed formal nights and dressing for dinner (still do!) however the trend is to a more casual do-your-own-thing mentality.  Do what you wish, don't worry about what others think.

 

Although having read recent cruise ship news, it is probably best you don't show up for chic night dressed as a clown! LOL

It is- but many do dress in a button down collard shirt and jacket.  Same as other venues.  Some people think it doesn't apply in certain restaurants- but most people do dress up.  Perhaps not a buffet.

 

Polo great for other nights- but I am not the dress police and do what you believe is appropriate!  Enjoy your cruise.

While it's certainly acceptable attire, the idea of a polo shirt being associated with anything resembling chic make me chuckle :)

We personally don't do the chic stuff at all. I wear a polo & nice jeans around the ship wheather it's dinner in Luminae or hanging around at the casino or whatever else. Thats as dressy as I ever get. I do own 1 pair of khakis, but the last time I wore them was about 5 years and 50 pound ago.

 

So to answer the question, yes a polo is perfectly fine!

I have noticed on our sailings that as time has passed since "chic" began about 4-5 years ago, fewer and fewer men are wearing jackets much less a suit in Luminae.  It appears to be even more casual on warm weather sailings. Since "chic" emblemented, DH began wearing a beautiful Tommy Bahama camp shirt or a well-starched dress shirt, but no longer drags a jacket/suit and has a much more enjoyable relaxed dinner. To each his own though!

Our observations have been the same in all ship restaurants, not only in Luminae.

Even the men who wear jackets tend to remove them and place them on the backs of their chairs.

 

When Celebrity first announced that they were eliminating formal nights, in Q&A sessions with the senior officers they explained that they want people to dress to express their individuality, not for everyone to dress alike.

 

It was done as part of the attempt to extend their appeal to a more diverse passenger mix, while still wanting to keep their traditional customers, therefore reassuring them that it was fine for them to continue to dress formally if they still wished to do so.

 

With each passing year they became more and more aware that formal night had become an anachronism as fewer and fewer passengers were really dressing formally on the so-called "formal" nights.

I would not wear polo shirt, but I believe there rule is it needs to have a collar. I had a v-neck shirt for breakfast and was told I should have a collar on shirt. On same cruise o saw someone in cutoff shorts and a baseball cap on backwards go into mdr for dinner.

You'd be wearing something else too I guess... Otherwise it would need to be a very long polo shirt, more akin to a Victorian night shirt!

Weird. We are often in T-shirts and shorts for breakfast in Luminae.

I agree shorts and T-shirts should be fine for breakfast in luminae, but head waiter did say should have a collar on shirt , I was not only person dressed that way .

I have gone to Luminae many times for breakfast in a T-shirt and shorts.  Never a problem.

Same here, Celebrity realizes your not going to go to breakfast, go back to your room to change and then go ashore.

Sounds like perhaps they were accustomed to the night shift.

What about embarkation lunch in Luminae? Husband wants to wear shorts and a patterned collared shirt to embark in FLL. I would call this resort wear, not a Hawaiian shirt, not that that matters...

No problem I always wear shorts and golf shirt for luminae , this is acceptable any dY for breakfast or lunch.

Shorts are acceptable in Luminae for Lunch.   I asked the Restaurant Manager once before lunch just to make sure.
