Deployment 2021-22 booking season begins

Voyager has a couple of bookings that may suggest a reposition to east coast Australia.

A Darwin booking on the 1st of June and apparently there’s a booking with Reef pilots with the agent a couple of days after.(I can’t verify that)
 

The cruise ban is upto March 17.

This  Voyager booking was for  the Los Angeles season that never got officially announced.

Voyager was going to dry dock in Singapore then sail Singapore to Los Angeles via Sydney.

The Voyager Brisbane port booking for 8 June 2021 disappeared about 6 weeks ago. 
Darwin isn’t updating cruise bookings.

im just curious why you folks chose radiance when you could have sailed on quantum at the same price.

Radiance is a great ship. It might not have all the bells and whistles but not everyone is looking for a floating theme park.

Port Canaveral is now fully ready for the arrival of Carnival Cruise Line’s new LNG-powered Mardi Gras cruise ship. The Florida cruise port marked a historic milestone with a new cutting-edge tug and bunker barge able to fuel LNG cruise ships.

North America’s First LNG Cruise Port

Innovation in the cruise industry continues to move forward during the suspension of operations as Port Canaveral is now ready with LNG. The new Q-LNG 4000 arrived at the port which is an articulated tug and barge (ATB) able to offer safe and reliable delivery of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG).

 

It has been nicknamed Q4K and the project has been in the making for four years. Finally, it has become a reality at the port can now offer a ship-to-ship transfer of the cleaner-burning LNG.

 

Capt. John Murray, Port CEO, stated: 

“This project has been four years from concept to reality and we are excited to welcome the Q-LNG 4000 to fuel the next generation of cruise ships.”

“We have been working closely with our cruise partners, all the federal and state regulatory agencies, and industry leaders to promote this industry initiative.”

 

 

The barge, constructed in cooperation with LNG fuel supplier Shell Trading Company and Q-LNG Transport, arrived at Port Canaveral recently for a sailing and berthing familiarization exercise.

 

 

The barge is 324-feet-long, and its attached tug is 128-feet-long. The U.S.-owned and operated vessel was constructed at VT Halter Marine Inc. shipyards in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and is crewed by U.S. mariners. It is the first Jones Act compliant ATB built in the U.S.

 

LNG will be loaded from a fuel distribution facility on Elba Island in Georgia. After each bunkering operation, the barge will have to return to make the trip back to the facility. Q4K has the capacity to fuel up to two cruise ships with a 7-day itinerary each.

Ready for New Carnival Cruise Ship

When the Q4K arrived at Port Canaveral recently and is actually conveniently docked at Port Canaveral’s new Cruise Terminal 3 which was completed in June 2020. The terminal has been constructed for Carnival Cruise Line and the new LNG-class cruise ships.

 

Mardi Gras, Carnival’s first fully powered LNG cruise ship is currently in Barcelona, Spain but she will soon be heading across the Atlantic to the port. The huge 180,000 gross ton vessel will be fuel using the new barge, kicking off a new era of eco-friendly fueling for the port and North America.

 

Mardi Gras‘ inaugural voyage has already been delayed five times due to the global pandemic but she is currently scheduled to begin sailing from terminal 3 from June 5. She will begin with a 7-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary with calls to San Juan, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk.

This does not imply anything to operations resumption. The sailings in China are always cancelled much later than in USA and Europe. RCI have mentioned for months about the plan of resuming Asia cruises (other than Singapore), but they are still waiting until now.

Things can change quickly in Asia. Both Spectrum and Voyager are nearby for restart. Also states here, they are going/planning to restart end of April.

I agree that Spectrum and Voyager will restart earlier than other ships in America and Europe, but don't think it will be in May. Impossible to get everything prepared in just 7 weeks. And in my opinion Genting Dream (Dream Cruises), as an Asian cruise ship, will be the next to be approved to sail, before Royal Caribbean.

After further consulting with our partners at Cruise Lines International Association and in conjunction with the CDC, we have decided to extend the suspension of sailings for our global fleet for all sailings through April 30th, 2021 – excluding sailings onboard Quantum of the Seas in Singapore and Spectrum of the Seas sailings departing April 2021 in China. Our plan is to resume further operation in May; however, the following circumstances have extended the suspension for the following ships and sailings:

• Quantum of the Seas Alaska sailings departing April 5 to October 14, 2021: In order to allow additional time for our preparation, Quantum of the Seas will remain in the Asia-Pacific region.

• Odyssey of the Seas May 9 to October 28, 2021 sailings departing from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy. Instead, Odyssey will begin her inaugural season out of a new homeport, Haifa, Israel from June to October 2021. These new sailings will be available for residents of Israel only."

Ahh, makes sense. Guess Genting Dream has more luck then.

But certainly it still depends on whether our government will allow cruise ships docking in our port in June.

Also interesting that World Dream is there. Could very likely work, given low community cases. Royal must see it as being a 2nd Singapore right now.

Unsure of first Nov. 2021 sailing from LA at this time.

It's either early Nov if NV can transit the canal or end of Nov if she has to take the long way home

 

My guess is that she fits through the canal and she starts sailing early November.
