mcrcruiser Posted August 31, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2019 The newer (2016 ) Holland America Koningsdam bathroom(balcony) has a decent sized walk in glass shower with a metal foot rest & a removable shower head (not stationary) . The glass is also the new spot free type .Thus ,no spots after drying .There is also a clothes line Holland has gotten a lot of praises for their design of their cabins The 4 Soltice class ships of Celebrity have convex shower stalls giving more room for a comfortable shower The showers on Princess ships are far too small .Soap the walls & spin is their design LOL
brisalta Posted August 31, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2019 Glass shower enclosures are a terrible safety hazard. I know a surgeon who had a glass shower enclosure shatter on his hand. Princess has clothes lines.

Rare CineGraphic Posted September 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2019 The cabin bathroom on the Nieuw Statendam was my favorite thing about the entire ship. Princess should consider bigger showers. 3
Colo Cruiser Posted September 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2019 Ain't happening anytime soon. Can you imagine the cost to refit 17 plus ships.

I think maybe the OP meant that Princess should consider this design for the showers in their ships still to be built.

richsea Posted September 1, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 1, 2019 Aside from the surgeon who had a glass shower door shatter on his hand (?!), I would say that the vast majority of people would much prefer a shower door to a clinging curtain, especially in a shower as small as those on Princess.
Rare 4cats4me Posted September 2, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2019 All the other cruiselines I’ve been on have glass doors. Far superior to that moldy, smelly shower curtain. Those curtains smell rancid at least 75% of the time, at least to me, and I request to have a fresh one on those occasions.
BCCRUSINGCOUPLE Posted September 2, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 2, 2019 On all the cruises I have been on it’s been the curtain. I think I would prefer no curtain and a glass enclosure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Daisyloo Posted September 2, 2019 #11 Share Posted September 2, 2019 Our last 4 cruises have been on HAL's Pinnacle class ships - Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam. They have great bathrooms with large glass showers. We loved them. Next year we have another Princess cruise booked, and we are not looking forward to going back to the clingy shower curtain in the tiny shower. rkacruiser Posted September 2, 2019 #12 Share Posted September 2, 2019 I am not sure that the "glass" wall of the new showers on HAL is actually glass. I think it is more likely plexiglass. The comment of a previous of poster that the Princess showers are "soap the walls" and spin caused a chuckle from this recent Coral Princess guest. Had not considered that bathing technique!
BettyCruiser Posted September 2, 2019 #13 Share Posted September 2, 2019 The showers on Royal and Regal are larger than older Princess ships and do have a ledge that works well for leg shaving and also works as a shelf, it does however still have a curtain. pris993 Posted September 2, 2019 #15 Share Posted September 2, 2019 I have stopped sailing new HAL ships because no bath tub any more... I only book Princess mini... love a bath tub. So I don't want Princess to follow HAL.
satxdiver Posted September 2, 2019 #16 Share Posted September 2, 2019 A larger shower with glass doors instead of the butt hugging shower curtain would be great. Maybe a good time to reevaluate HAL.

If HAL can provide this type of quality, so can Princess if they are motivated. Edited September 2, 2019 by cheezenip

Assuming total cabin size does not increase, a larger shower will mean less space somewhere else in the cabin. Which part of the cabin should be smaller so that the shower can be larger? HappyCruiserettu Posted September 2, 2019 #23 Share Posted September 2, 2019 I would guess that many of the glass doors mentioned are not really glass.
