I have a painful tooth saga.  My regular dentist referred me to an Endodontist for root canal on 2 teeth.  Long story short, both really have to be extracted.

Not a painful tooth saga, but a dentist saga.  I had a dentist appointment this morning.  This is a fairly new (to us) dentist, because our old dentist retired during the pandemic.  He has Televisions mounted above the chair, so you can watch it while they are working on your teeth.  Usually, they have a game show on, but today, they had some animal show on, and they were operating on a dog’s mouth.   Let me just say, it was not something I wanted to see while they were working on me.

@Sunshine3601 @Jimbo I think @Arzeenaand anyone else sailing, continue to enjoy your cruises.  Great pictures especially the Northern Lights, something I doubt I will ever see in person.

@dani negreanu Dani, I'm sure you're having (or had if you're back home) a wonderful time in Amsterdam with your beautiful family.  I know it will be (was) so hard saying goodbye.

I have a painful tooth saga.  My regular dentist referred me to an Endodontist for root canal on 2 teeth.  Long story short, both really have to be extracted.  Regular dentist doesn't pull teeth and gave me a few referrals.  The one I chose, looked 21 and when asked, informed me she was practicing dentistry for 1 year.  I told her I would think about it and asked if she could prescribe a pain killer for now.  Imagine my surprise when she told me she wasn't certified to prescribe meds.  Huh?  How is it possible for her to pull teeth and not prescribe antibiotics or pain meds?  I heard enough, didn't ask questions, just thanked her, walked out and found a dentist on referral who has been practicing more than a year and is certified to prescribes meds.

It should have been a wake up call when I checked the young dentist bio on the group website and she wasn't listed.  I asked the front desk and was told she worked out of a different location and was filling in while one of their dentists was out on maternity leave.

Sorry for such a long story for two such little teeth!🦷🦷

I also need a tooth pulled , my normal dentist now has a new dentist in her office and they gave me a estimate of 5k plus for pulling tooth and a deep clean , I will be looking for a new specialist.

That is ridiculous. Our government is so focused on medical costs while dentist literally run wild. Whoever that dentist is, (s)he should be embarrassed.

that is crazy, are you sure it did not include an implant also in a few months,  I unfortunately joined the group that had to have a tooth pulled got a referral to a dentist in a different town who did a great job, prescribed antibiotics and charged me $290.

Goodness!!  That had to include restoration work like an implant!  The new dentist I will be seeing Tuesday is in Plano, is an oral surgeon and does "regular" extractions as well as problematic ones. I'll let you know how it goes and will get you his info if you want it.

I actually paid for impant earlier in the year , already spent about 5k there, they are rated as top in there field. I am very well covered for medical issues but my dental i only have 1500 a year to cover that.

So anyone ever have a problem with their TMJ?  Mine started to act up last Wednesday and hasn’t improved any at this point. I went to the dentist yesterday and they have referred me to a specialist.  I’m just waiting to get a call from their office.

I am able to eat, with some effort and I have no issues communicating.  That said, I can’t open my mouth further than an inch without great pain. Even putting a fork into my mouth hurts, just by the angle. Great fun, but at least I am at home and not away somewhere.

My former dentist referred me to a dentist who does extractions and implants. My dentist said he is charges are a bit high but he does excellent work.My Dental Insurance which covers implants is $3000.00 annually.

This dentist quoted me an amount for pulling two teeth and two implants an amount equal to booking two luxury cruises.

Andrew I had a bad bout with TMJ years ago.  It is not fun.  Muscle relaxers and exercises helped.  Good luck🤞

Many thanks.

I see the specialist Tuesday next week. My dentist told me to take Robax Platinum to help with the muscle  relaxer in the meantime.

It is not a muscle issue. It is a joint problem. Muscle relaxants will do nothing. You need anti-inflammatories.

I don't trust or like dentists. My current dentist wants to do a bridge over an area that just last year said he could just replace the filling. I also go to a periodontist and asked for second opinion he siad therre is a harline crack but did not seem to thing it needed a crown right away. I just think dentists are a bunch of money grabbers.

Bonnie. Thanks for the bon voyage wishes. We are back on land now. Next cruis is in Oct. ABC itinerary. It is my birthday cruise and also I will get to meet Bella's parents. John had posted that they were booked on this sailing.

Hope your teeth won't give you much pain. You did right walking out. Frightening!

Best of luck with the root canal. Will keep you in my thoughts.
