Rare Sea Dog Posted February 23 #115977 Share Posted February 23 39 minutes ago, Arzeena said: This was our experience so nobody please scold me: MSC was total chaos and confusion galore while booking and on board. All three times. Two times we booked directly through them and once with our TA. He was pulling his hair dealing with them too. The TA's company is not working with them anymore. One of our friends from the ex NCL crew is now HD on an MSC ship we were on....he has totally lost it! His being onboard did not help. It was just not for us. I never say never, and will give it a try again, but sitting it out for now. MSC ships we were on: Divina (once) and SeaSide (twice). Cancelled the Meragvilla because of too many headaches with the reservation. We are not Yacht Club people and have never booked YC before, so I cannot sing those praises or say what I didn't like of YC. We are the normal stream "cruise enthusiasts" who will look for a deal more than a suite, points and amenities, (so perhaps our experiences with MSC are not that stellar) .....if the suite has the greatest deal, we will look definitely at it, I mean who would not like a suite and be pampered, I'd love that!!! but putting all the numbers together take priority to us than a butler, a drink package, chasing points, etc etc, so we will always look for deals, group rates , etc. And I also keep getting the line, "Do you want to cruise once a year in the best suite or go on more cruises?". You know which one I am picking so far!😁 but everyone has their own desires to follow, so no right or wrong answers. So having said that, I have cruised in a suite only 3 times : once in a Crown Loft on the Oasis, another time on NCL and once on Carnival. Crown Loft took my breath away. NCL was WOW and their service was WOWer! Carnival was a big suite, lots of space, no complaints. Thanks for your thoughts. It’s important to hear people’s experiences. I would like to try other lines but I am also obsessed with making it to Diamond Plus.

Rare Tree_skier Posted February 23 #115979 Share Posted February 23 As far as MSC goes… we are one and done with them. I think if I regularly sailed suites I’d be more inclined to give them a second chance. I keep hearing that yacht club is an amazing experience that vastly exceeds Royals suite experience. Our first experience was very substandard. We know what we get with Royal and we’re comfortable with that. Generally we’re in a balcony with the odd suite thrown in. I might try them again somewhere down the road just for the yacht club experience to give it a comparison but like @Sea Dog said likely will be after I hit diamond plus. 6

She finished all the chemo and radiation, and finished the three vaccines in the clinical trial at Cleveland Clinic with no adverse reactions. She has another follow up with them next month. All bloodwork has been in the normal range, which is a good sign. We hold our breath at every appointment, until results are back. It is so good to hear that your daughter is doing so well, Mark! As much as the worrying will always be there, it's great that all of her bloodwork is in the normal range. Amazing to read that it's been a year already!

I mocked booked the Ascent and it was 7k for a sunset veranda. I’m glad you got to celebrate this milestone. I’m sorry you had to go to too many funerals. I’m so sorry. There are no words I could adequately say. Good for you. We have 5 booked too. Always something to look forward to. @Sea Dog wow! That’s pretty pricey. Keep shopping Sunset Verandas are always more expensive since they are on the aft and really only a true balcony as all the others are infinite verandas that are basically a window.

Rare Momof3gurlz Posted February 24 #115989 Share Posted February 24 (edited) We’ve had a whirlwind few days. Our two nights in Jacksonville Beach were nice, just wish the temperature could’ve climbed above 65. Still better than home! Our first night, we went to Dockside Seafood. The food was good but the place wasn’t quite what I expected. Order at a counter, get a pager and they bring your food in a basket. As Andy said “only the finest for you” Our second night was dinner at TacoLu at @bobmacliberty Bob’s recommendation. It did NOT disappoint! Naturally we ordered way too much food. Our oldest will be in Amelia Island at the end of the month with her family for their spring break. I texted her and said they have to make the drive to try this place. Today we drove to the Margaritaville in Hollywood Beach. Due to a snafu in the parking garage, we were upgraded from partial Oceanview room to two room Oceanfront Suite. Cheeseburgers in Paradise for dinner were excellent. Tomorrow night is JWB Steakhouse. Best of all? The temperature today was 80 degrees! They have a very nice Caribbean island which had a private area for yacht club, private island had waiter service for their lunch . You would love their private lounge huge bar with a piano and live music from 5 to 11. Yacht club is similar to celebrity suites on Edge class . If you want to see a show in main theater butler will escort you to the theater . Outdoor area has a pool and hot tubs bar and you can have lunch and breakfast there loads of very comfortable lounges never an issue on finding seats . Currently wife has a very good job but when she retires in a year or two we will need to budget , but I rather do less trips and do suites and fly first . If you are diamond on rccl , MSc will give you matching status which gives you a 5 percent discount, I get a ten percent discount because I am a veteran. MSc is also moving to Galveston at end of next year. @George C. How’s the entertainment? Do you need to book shows pre cruise? Any comedy shows/areas? We was surprised on how good it was , in the yacht club there is live music from 5 to 11 , either a solo or duet , on piano or guitar players , they play for a hour or so then gets replaced with another performer . There are reserved seats in main theater and butler will escort you , went to a couple shows that were really good , they also had a opera one night . There was a small jazz group that we listened to several nights across from there sports bar . I don’t recall any comedy, I think that there are lots of Europeans that might not be fluent in English. We rarely used butler on celebrity but they are handy , they will escort and make reservations for you if you want a specialty restaurant. I know they sail from Brooklyn also.

firefly333 Posted February 24 #116000 Share Posted February 24 (edited) George I saw nov 2025 msc will be in Galveston. I saw a eye surgeon yesterday. I have had a long time problem with a discharge from my eyes and nose and have told my gp but this time said it's worse something has to be done. Seeing commercials for all these eye diseases scared me thinking I could have something I will go blind from. Like I'm having sneezing fits where I cant stop and then I breath in and .... cant breath for about 5 seconds, cant get oxygen. My eyes are glued together in the morning etc. My eyes itch so bad I want to scratch out my eyeballs. Well I have globbed up oil ducts in my eyes. The oil is rock hard. And he wants to do cataract surgery. But we cant until we get my eyes so I quit rubbing and scratching and ready to tear them out. He prescribed drops 3 times a day and I put a heating pad on my eyes about 5 minutes to melt the hardened oil and then wash out my eyes with hot water and baby "no more tears" shampoo. In 2 weeks I go back to see if I've gotten back to normal and he can do surgery. I'm still set to move by may 20, and have a cruise may 6, 7 days on mariner. Each eye surgery is separate. Going to be tight schedule. At least it's not a disease, just oil clogged up in my eye ducts. That's a relief.
