Rare A&L_Ont Posted May 13 #121451 Share Posted May 13 We had a bit of Mother’s Day drama here that has slowly percolated since Friday morning. We found this cat sleeping in Lucy’s chair Friday morning. Lucy was away on patrol until Saturday afternoon so no issues, right away. We didn’t feed the newbie and there was water to drink in the puddles. We didn’t know how they’d do with each other, but we saw this late morning today. The black cat was loud with meows when Lucy was further away but got quiet when she got closer. We had what we call a Mexican Stand-off most of the day. At one point I even had peeping eyes looking in. 20 1
Ken at the beach Posted May 13 #121452 Share Posted May 13 It's been a couple days since my last post but unfortunately we are now flying home so I have a bit of time to continue. Friday was San Francisco. 9am to 11pm. That is one thing Explora tries to do...longer port stops. I woke up early to catch our arrival into San Francisco but unfortunately the fog did not co operate. Beautiful views later though. We had Go Cars booked for the day and a behind the scenes tour of Alcatraz in the evening so it was a very long day. While the Go Cars were fun and a great way to see the city we ran into issues with the GPS not working do at one point waited around for a repair truck to come out, they got it going and then 5 minutes later it was out again. We were navigating with Google maps and the paper map they gave us. In the end they did offer us a 100% refund We turned our car in and walked to the terminal for the short boat ride to Alcatraz. Only a couple of pictures but the behind the scenes tour was interesting and definitely worth doing. Rule number 5. May need to post this in my son's room since he just moved back home. Tired from a long day we headed back to the ship at 8:30. The Emporium Marketplace was open until 9. I will refrain from referring to it as the buffet since there are not many buffets on ships where you walk in at 8:30 at night and have a plate of crab claws followed by fresh cooked shrimp and lobster. There were veggies, potatoes and other assorted dishes but I passed on all of those extras, I figure I can get those on my next venture into the WJ.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted May 13 #121453 Share Posted May 13 Thanks to community group phone chats we discover that Princess was visiting us from a farm a mile away. She’s a year old female who took a road trip from neighbours to the east. They came and picked her up, and Lucy was happy to see her go. Better yet, they also left us some maple syrup from our trees that we let them tap. A win-win for Lucy and us.
Ken at the beach Posted May 13 #121454 Share Posted May 13 Our initial plan when we knew we were returning late was going to be room service which is available 24 hours and no charge. Notice the filet on the menu. There is also a separate breakfast menu that is left on your bed every evening.
Ken at the beach Posted May 13 #121455 Share Posted May 13 We discovered the complimentary self serve laundromat on the last day. There are two on board. Deck 9 and 10. Would have been great for drying the bathing suits. We slso did some shopping yhe last day. We had $200 euros of obc. Everything on board is in euros. I let Sarah spend most of it in tje spa buying a bunch of things that I have no idea what they do but it made her happy. There was $24 left and this was $36 so in the end my on board bill was $12.
reallyitsmema Posted May 13 #121456 Share Posted May 13 We now have a medical emergency on board and they are looking for O negative blood from a male. Asking for anyone with their donation card to go to medical. My DH donates but we never thought to bring his card. He isn’t a match but will add it to our packing list for future cruises.

We aren’t fans of Giovanni’s either, we prefer Jamie’s. We have avoided MDR in the past but since we are nine nights, there are additional menus we haven’t seen before. We will give it one last shot tonight and then we’ll do Chops and WJ. We are also looking into Celebrity to mix it up a bit. I personally prefer the windjammer. The selection is good and I don’t need to sit still for up to 2 hours.

I’m kind of bummed because I’m sure I am far enough North and also far out from the light pollution to have enjoyed them but I didn’t know to look for them! We are in the middle of renovations and I have not read or seen any news in the last few days. I remember the first time I saw them it was so fascinating but that was the one and only time I have seen them around here.

I think Lucy would rather be the queen of her domain and have to share it with another cat. 2

I'll never forget it! I did that once, getting blasted by a 747 KLM getting ready for take-off. I saw one or two people get knocked down, a few hats and bags being blown in to the sea. Glad I did it, not sure I'd do it again. 4

Luckynana Posted May 13 #121467 Share Posted May 13 Well, I just stepped out into the backyard looking up at the sky for any sign of the beautiful lights; no such luck. We still have lots of cloud cover. Apparently the weather people were wrong about the sky being clear around here tonight. Ah, well. At least I had a lovely Mother's Day!😉

The rollcall says they have a donor. One person who tried was told they weren’t needed at this time. Dr google showed a study saying male donations have less risk of mortality. Not sure, hope person got what they needed. No further announcements. Since we didn’t get to Bermuda, we are due in St Marteen at 7am instead of noon. Our course hasn’t changed at all according to the position map on the tv. 3
Ken at the beach Posted May 13 #121469 Share Posted May 13 Some pictures of the Emporium Marketplace. Even here ygey have subdivided the searing into may different areas to it does not feel as busy. The tables are always set with napkins, cutlery, salt and pepper grinders and water glasses. Have a seat and a host will be by in minutes to take your drink order and it's there waiting by the time you get back with your food. 15

This whole time in Japan, this is the first time that I have seen a church. Onuma Park- known for its picturesque, island dotted lakes surrounded by birch and maple forests and the majestic volcano, Mt. Komagatake. 13

What I read before is there is some danger in men getting blood from women who had been pregnant…even women who perhaps didn’t know they had been pregnant…so it was safer to ask for male blood for men. Can’t explain the medical reasons.

We seem to be the homeless cat magnet of the neighborhood. 7
