Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

We were very happy when we arrived at our shore house today.  The September tenants that left yesterday left the place immaculate.  Even left us a really nice note thanking us for renting for September and what a good time they had at the annual chowderfest this past weekend.

We have been renting 2 weeks to them in summer for at least 10 yrs and hopefully many more.

My neighbor was telling me the husband was raking the pebble driveway and hosing everything down this weekend.  The outdoor bbq looks spotless.  Wonderful people, quite unlike the nasty can opener lady from earlier this summer.

I walked down to beach before dinner but breezy and real choppy waves, gloomy and muggy day.

Hope for good weather in morning to go for bike ride.

Being lazy and watching tv tonight as we settle in for our stay.

Nice to hear they left it spotless and kept up for you!  That is exactly what Bucky and I do at each of the homes we have rented.  Actually leave it in better shape than what we found it.  Bucky has done many repairs, and I have done a lot of inside cleaning and organizing.

Have received many a thank you message from the owners.  😉

Very gloomy morning at the beach.  Went for a nice walk on the beach instead of a bike ride, bit misty.  Didnt realize I was so wet till I got back home.

Eric started moving furniture around in extra bedrooms and we will start putting up painters tape.  He's in charge of painting the ceilings since he's 6'3" and i get to do baseboards since I'm 5'2 (and 3/4).

Maybe I should go for bike ride and see what he gets done while I'm gone..

Is this correct.  I showed have free AT&T coverage in St Thomas. If so, how is the coverage at Megan's Bay.

Yes, AT&T (which I have as well) has same coverage in St. Thomas, as does it in Puerto Rico.  Both U.S. owned.   Can't tell you about Megan's Bay...not sure we have been there.

Just recently found I have coverage for no extra charge for Canada and Mexico as well.  No roaming charges, no long distance...nada.  🙂

This is what I think is a unique thread.  The only other one I can compare this to for tolerance and kindness is the Friends of Bella thread.

We all came in here when the pandemic started to talk about our every day lives, how we are coping in lockdown.  No politics, no religion, no name calling, no hissy fits.  Some of us knew each other either meeting on cruises or just knowing folks from other threads.  We discuss our daily lives, share wonderful pictures of food porn, travels, family, pets, future/current travels, cruises, favorite drinks, recently even snakes (ugh) and so much more.  Unlike Seinfeld, this is the thread about everything!  Slowly we became a close knit group of people from diverse backgrounds that genuinely care for each other. We rejoice and share in happy moments and give healing prayers and comfort to those in need.

Stick around a 2nd time.  Maybe this time you won't lose interest.

I wouldn't want this wonderful link to my on-line friends ever be removed.

Shout out to Dani for starting us on such a totally awesome online journey!!

Eloquently stated, Bonnie.  You're a great spokesperson!  I'm certain you spoke for all of us here.❤️

Gorgeous flower.  How does one know what night it will bloom?  Truly a shame it only blooms for one night.

You don't really know for sure which night it will bloom, but that's what makes it so intriguing.  The plant itself is really quite homely.  When it blooms it's like magic how it turns into a thing of beauty.  By the way, the flower grows right off the edge of the leaf, and leaves grow off of other leaves as well.

This is what my Night Blooming Cereus looks like right now.  It didn't bloom this year, but did the past two years.  It got blown over and damaged last year, and I had to repot it.  It doesn't react well to that.  The long stem-like parts are actually leaves, too.  This summer, one stem/leaf grew to the ceiling, and another went to the floor, making the plant 9 or 10 feet tall.  It lives in the garage during the winter, as it can't tolerate freezing temperatures.

Last night I had the pleasure of watching my friend's Night Blooming Cereus open up.  The flowers bloom for only one night, and have a strong sweet smell. This morning the flower will have closed back up and will start drooping down, having finished its display.  Here's what one of the buds did over the course of about an hour and a half. The open bloom measured 9 inches in diameter.

LOL!!  Yup, I think the "old fart" age spins a whole lot faster then when we were young.  Not to mention our short term memory never seems to catch up.  😉

Ummm...now... what was I saying...and what was the subject?   😄

Obligatory lake photo of the day.  The sun was lighting up the shoreline this morning.

So our school teacher daughter does a project with her kids every year to raise monarch butterflies.  They have gone from microscopic to full size caterpillars, and will be forming their chrysalis.  Since they thrive on milkweed, we are always on the lookout for some when we go walking.  If we find some, we will cut it and take to her for the caterpillars to eat.

After reading about how FB, Alexa, etc. seem to listen to or read everything, I am thinking I should no longer text her “Hey, I just dropped off your weed!”

That's right!!  Thanks...I knew there was another U.S. Virgin island out there...let's throw in St. John's as well.  😉

Actually there are around 50 other much smaller islands in that chain as well....though I don't believe they have any cell service...or roads...or water...or electricity.  😳

A question for the people who live in NJ or spent time on the Jersey shore in the early 70’s

There was an ice cream parlor that we called The White House but I do not think it was the real name. I am trying to recall the real name but I cannot. They sold the best ice cream that I ever ate and it was always mobbed.

I think I have the answer since I just asked Mike. A place in Love Ladies next to the Long Beach Island Art Foundation. It had an ice cream bar where you could put your own toppings on. He also knew it as the White House and it was on the corner of Tidal Dr. and Long Beach Boulevard. Looks like there is a house there now.

It's working great at Megan's Bay.

I noticed before we could text and call Canada and Mexico free.  I hadn't figured out it's free from those 2 places back to the states.

Have seen them admit they were posting for other half.  Most times it's when they are gone, or not feeling well...just to keep us updated.  Some just like to take turns and don't want separate screen names.  Again, please accept my apology for getting you mixed up.

Bad girl...bad Island Lady.  😞

I realized too late what you meant about others posting under the same name.
I have never been able to get Dick interested in CC, when it has been such a source of knowledge and companionship over the years!

So many of our cruises have been enhanced by having friends in board, even just to say hi when we pass each other.
And private shore exes, good heavens, what wonderful times we’ve had in so many places!

Maybe some day I can get him interested!

Bucky is always interested in what is going on here...though he never posts.  I have many times read quotes to him, and have dragged the lap top to him to show him various pictures as well (We both adore Samantha!).

He loves to "suggest" things to say.  Mostly it's Dave he is talking to, .....one of his "Land of the Dragon" brothers.  😉 😄   Almost wish I had not asked about the two step snake though!!  😳
