I am a big believer that birth order plays a big role. We oldest ones seem to develop a protector mentality. We can also tend to be rather bossy... or so I've been told.😇

Oh yeah...just ask Bucky.  But he is an older brother to his sister.  Another one.  😉

And they don't call me "the Bull Dog" for nothing.  😄

Absolutely the opposite in our family.  My older sister is the wishy washy one.  I’m the more assertive one (by far).

I agree...I’m the first born of three. But is it nature or nurture? My mother was home alone with me for hours on end with my father in the army. She says that I was her complete and total focus. The story about my potty training had me going to the bathroom at a younger and younger age the more the story was told. By the time my sister (youngest) was born, she practically had to potty train herself. 😁  I’m sure that focused attention had a lot to do with who I became as an adult, but I’m equally sure that I have the engineering genes in me that also determined who I am.

Funny that you mentioned that your father was military and away a lot. My father's job also required a lot of travelling. I think that also contributed to my mentality of being the protector of the family. Sometimes when he was home I think we would butt heads over who was the head of the house. And the way that an Italian mother views her first born son probably did not help his cause at all.😯😄😇

My sweet little sister is like a door mat...heart of gold and unfortunately lets people take advantage of her.  One of the reasons her "tough as nails" older sister is very protective of her...as I had been even when we were children.  She knows it, and actually appreciates it.

After divorcing her first husband, (who still got into her garage and stole things) she moved a woman in with her (she only knew briefly) along with the woman's adult daughter as room mates.  But I soon found they were taking advantage of her as well when I went up to visit her while she still lived in Michigan (doing her residency).

Kicked the woman out, helped my sister up there for awhile (she was suffering with a badly broken leg from skiing accident at the time)...then convinced her to move down here to Florida to be close to us...as did my mother.  Best thing I ever got her to do.  🥰

She has since set up her own clinic as infectious disease specialist, and wound care, plus resident ID doctor for two hospitals.  Florida gained from having her here as well.  🙂

Thank god she was a big sister watching out for her and let's hope the current husband does Not hurt her in anyway.

That wouldnt do any good. As I've seen the person still has to agree to go or not. I've seen my dad say no, so I'm sure. They have a roommate who now also tested positive who told my mom this morning he would drive him to ER if he wanted to go, he just wasnt sure bil could stand the over 2 hours to get admitted. It's being discussed. The decision is not mine.

This is the same bil who told me god would take care of him and going to church wasnt risky behavior. He knows it all, until he or his roommate decide, nothing I can do. Very hard to argue when he brings in god to why he is right.

How is your Sister and husband today?

They keep putting off when our big snow will start. Now they say after 6 pm, which means after dark. I was hoping to watch it today out the window. We do have icy snow on the streets and frozen in at 18 degrees. Bring on the snow already.

Our street looks exactly like this , Dallas can’t handle snow not enough trucks to spread salt and sand. Looks like we will have to cancel our Valentine’s Day reservation for dinner 😢😢

If ever should...he would have me to deal with.  Not something he should consider.  😉

I hear you.  My sister's ex pushed her once.  She called the cops and filed a report.  If he had ever touched again he wouldn't be walking.

We have heat set at 72 and gas fireplace has been going all weekend, regret not going out to dinner Saturday which we normally do, feel sorry for all the restaurants in area since I am sure there will be lots of no shows on what is normally one of there busiest days.

I had a call from my city about conserving electricity and turning down my heat. My heat is gas. Lol. Turning it down wouldnt help much with peak electricity usage.

Yea restaurants have had one thing after another, though maybe soon they can open back to 75%.

Her first husband was far worse than this one.  He was cheating on her, moved his rotten kids in with them, who were stealing from her (as was he), and he treated her terrible...even though she was the main bread winner.  This was when big sister did step in, she listened...got rid of him and was ever so happy she did.

This one, though lazy, self serving, and extremely eccentric...has not hurt her physically, and she seems (sort of) happy, so letting it ride until he does hurt her.

Your sister has been very unfortunate with her choice of husband's and the woman who moved in with her taking advantage of her.

She is lucky to have you to help her.

Awww...that's very sweet...thanks.  🙂

Yeah, DNA is funny...but naturally comes from two different people as parents.  And goes past that to the previous generation as well.  😉

Pauline is lovely and loved by all the family, her older sister is horrible and disowned her daughter (our lovely niece Sarah) and her late mam.

LOL  😄 ...nah...I like my retirement.  Though right now retired life has not been what we planned for the last year.  😮

Instead of cruising the north coast of Australia, as we should have been right now, I am sweeping and mopping the floors.  In between Bucky tracking saw dust all over the place doing the trim on the bathroom remodel.  Grumble.  😖

I paid for a luxury all inclusive 30 day RC fly cruise and stay around Australia and New Zealand for them for their 60th birthdays.

They then decided to fall out with the family so I didn't even get a birthday card for my 60th off them 4 years ago.
