The following is not a criticism of any sort, just a note of genuine puzzlement.

Crystal appears to be recovering from a near death experience.  It's still in ICU and will be there for a while.

So why are so many people who never or rarely posted to this board when Crystal was a going concern posting to this board now?  I mean, is it a "can't look away from the accident on the highway" sort of phenomenon?

I'm sincerely curious.

PS: A&K bring back the trash can doilies!

Some people get pleasure from catastrophic events rather than when things are steady and going well.

By the way one of my favorites was the time there was some mention of animals and all of a sudden we had many posters with animal member names positing.

This made me wonder how do people find these threads for cruise lines they don't sail.

Do they check out each board every day?  Or do a search on the entire site?  Maybe the latter.

Maybe I should do a search on the glass is half full and see what comes up.

When you travel you never know what you will see.  Walking along Miami Beach in January, 2020 before boarding Serenity and the was an interesting  exhibit.  At first I thought we traveled to The Planet Of The Apes.

Maybe it was a dream.  Maybe COVID was a dream.  Maybe the bankruptcy was a dream.  Maybe I am still dreaming and when I wake up it will be January of 2020.

Unfortunately COVID is not a dream. We are both with COVID right now. My husband 8 days, in my case 5 days since symptoms started. This is the souvenir we brought from our last cruise to Norway. Believe me COVID is not a dream and not a walk on the park either.

Another landmark sinks (literally):

Hong Kong’s landmark Jumbo floating restaurant sinks at sea (WaPo)

Had lunch there years ago.  Setting was memorable, food was not.

Oh no!  That summary is kind of what I expected, as with many tourist destinations, but I’m still kind of jealous…. All I got to experience was a photo of the outside.  😞

Thanks Ivi, sorry to be gone so long, work has been crazy and I haven’t had enough free time lately to participate on the board.  😞  I’m going to try to come around more often, I miss everyone too, and I need the socialization.  😊

OK, time to stir the pot.

In the 60s, there was an outpouring of musical creativity from the UK.  It was inspired by US R&B which was evolving into R&R (think Muddy Waters to Little Richard.)  This phenomenon was collectively known as the British Invasion.  The three best bands it produced were:

The Who

The Kinks

The Rolling Stones

That's right, if your favorite band isn't on the list, it finished no better than fourth.

Condolences.

My top three not in any particular order:

The Beatles

The Beatles

The Beatles

So there.

Yeah, it was kind of what we expected, but it was lunch which we don't much care about.  Still, happy for the experience.

At the other end of the spectrum, we've had dinner at Gaddi's at the Peninsula.  Both the meal and the hotel stay are special memories.  Fun fact: the hotel sent us off to the airport in a Roller, and we were wondering how the driver was going to get all our luggage in the trunk.  He loaded the trunk up and then proceeded to bungee cord the lid to secure it, just like the taxi drivers we saw did.  We also trudged down and saw them fire the Noon Day Gun (such tourists we were.)  And OLoPP loved rides on the Star Ferry (basic class, of course.) And lots of other things.

We did two fairly lengthy land vacations to HK, always thought we'd get back for a third.  No longer.  Breaks my heart at what has happened to it.  Predictable, but sad still.

Paul McCartney was good last night at Glastonbury did you get a chance to see it Keith.

We saw him several years ago in Dallas. It was magical.

He actually did concerts near us a few years ago but we were cruising.

This time around we would have to travel to see him and in the world of COVID-19 with my wife's situation we didn't want to push our luck.  Hopefully, he will do another tour and I know there is never a guarantee that this will happen but if he does we will plan to go.

What is amazing is that he is 80 and while his voice is not like it was it is pretty darn good for someone 80 when others who were not that age couldn't sing anymore and his stamina at 80 to do such a long show and do many performances is amazing as well.

And yes, while the Rolling Stones were not one of my fav bands, at his age Mick Jagger is amazing with his stamina and who would have thought that someone like Keith Richards would still be around given all he consumed over the years.

I always wondered just one day, just one day, just one day couldn't they have turned the arrow be pointed in the other direction.

Maybe it would have been too confusing for people to adjust as we all know most people do NOT like change.

I can remember when at least Symphony's used to spin...  But IIRC you always had people messing with them on one side or the other, so you'd get traffic jams when people thought they were following directions only to face oncoming traffic from people who also thought they were also following directions.  I think now that we just get some free thinkers, but most of the traffic flows in the same direction, it probably does work a lot better.

As far as I can remember, the main advantage of alternating directions was the chance to even out your farmers tan.  😄  When the direction is always counter-clockwise, your right side usually gets a lot more sun than your left -- no matter how you rotate the time of day you walk or direction the ship is sailing in.

If you hadn't said that, I would have guessed you took that after you'd been up for 4 or 5 hours, had your workout, coffee, etc..  😄
