But it's the opposite of what you think. Those who die at home from COVID-19 are often not counted. Florida only counts residents of the state. The 143,000+ doesn't come near the true number. I am not afraid for your soul, but for your very life! Florida reports both, residents and non residents but not in same category. Not sure why they do it this way. With 146,419 deaths in the U.S., I’m sure there are some being counted that shouldn’t be and some that were missed and should have been. Unless people swallow their pride and start wearing their mask, social distance, and wash their hands, it’s going to get a lot higher. If they resume cruising too early or have the virus show up on cruise ships, cruising will go away. If it happens, I’m sure you’ll deflect the blame to the government. It doesn’t matter what we do. I wear my mask but the virus is not going away. And that came from Dr Fauci. We need to protect the vulnerable. M8

Sadly, a hefty segment of folks don't care.... they don't care about themselves and they don't care about others. And Fauci is right, the virus is not going away. But what we do now will determine how long it will stick around and what the ultimate death toll will be!
zekekelso Posted July 24, 2020 #430 Share Posted July 24, 2020 There was a case in Florida if a motorcycle death that was initially reported as a Covid death, but was caught and fixed. That what happens with data... mistakes creep in and hopefully get fixed as you do cleanup work. Data will never be perfect. Maybe the actual number through today is 130,000. Maybe it’s 150,000. Either way, government is simply not going to ignore that level of death, accept it and go back to normal. Some people here think we should, but that ain’t happening. I think my taster was toasted at this point and when we finished the tasting the Pink Koolaid was served. After all of the serious wines, the sweet stuff was really the best tasting stuff I had tasted for the last couple of hours. All wines have their place, and time. White Zin is really a dessert wine, and is excellent with dessert. That said, I would rather have a late harvest Riesling or other dessert wine but White Zin works in that theatre. We did find a couple of other pictures, though. One of them was a hoot. There were NO Pinnacles on that cruise and we discovered that we were actually #3 for most points (It must have been high 300's or low 400's) and we have a picture with John Denton giving us a bottle of champagne. The champagne, by the way was fairly expensive, not Andre. LOL...same thing on Radiance years ago. We were shocked when we were invited to the top three C&A member dinner. Robert Taggert...(right up there IMHO as one of the best HDs along with JD), invited us to dinner. We were #2 (#1 was just a few points over us)...and were at just 350 or so points. Nice dinner in Chops that lasted well into the night. 😄 We also have the presentation photo they gave us at the top tier. Good memories. 🙂 That was why the CL was so empty on that cruise. 😮

And even better, those old vines they were about to tear out...make that wine even better. 🤗🍷 If it were not for the White Zin revolution....the wine makers were going to tear out those 70s era vines. It's not the sale of the new car that the dealership is making money on...it's the "extras". Financing, extended warranty, warranty service work (big one), extra features, undercoat, clear coat...etc. In that frame of thinking...the cruise lines (IMHO) make their big profits on the "extras". Drinks and Drink packages, shore excursions, internet, laundry, specialty restaurants, Starbucks, spa treatments, gift shops, casino (big one there), etc...etc. So if you spend X amount for the fare on a just couple of cruises in a suite...versus same X of fare amount on numerous cruises in a cheaper cabin (more actual time on the ship).... which one is spending more on those extras? Do you think those in inside and ocean view cabins are spending $3000 - $5000 in extras? And that the suite people are not spending ANYTHING on extras? We sail in a suite. Buy the drink package, and buy excursions. I am fine with counting ALL the spending on the cruise. Cruise fare, drink and dining packages, and excursions, etc. 1

Most Diamond Plussers would have used all manner of different types of cabin. This presumption that we have only reached that level by using Inside cabins is nonsense. Yet man believe it to be so. 2. Most businesses require knowable cashflow figures - Loyal guests provide this. They build new ships based on these known figures. 3. It is not an either or, so there is no real reason to make it one. 1. Some do and some don't. How many full suites have you sailed? 2. Yes. But how much more does it cost the line for a suite? Yes, there can be less suites due to size, but they are about 2x the smaller cabins. Food is the same. Reserved seats in the show are no cost. The lounge does cost. But you are talking about 4-5x the cruise fare for a suite over an inside. 3. It is about those who feel they have earned the same perks based on number of nights over paying more. I would be fine with loyalty by night AND dollars, like the airlines.

Have you ever walked the hallway on disembarkation day and noticed multi page invoices stuck to the door on various cabins? I see a lot of them on the inside cabin doors of the hallway. No one should be classified according to cabin level or C&A level. We are all different. There are way too many people on these threads that tend to do it. Not hard to assume that the more time you spend on a ship...and the more you cruise...the more you will spend the $$ on extras.

If Royal get the right products at the right price in their shops they could sell a lot more merchandise. Strange, most all the suite guests I have talked to, have done multiple cruises, all in suites. And in many cases, book the same cabin every cruise. As "their" cabin.

I would be fine with loyalty by night AND dollars, like the airlines. 1. 4 Grand Suites, 3 Junior Suites, but I don't see how that makes me more worthy or less worthy. I could just as easily say I have sailed a fair few out of Europe which are always more expensive, and often a balcony has been more expensive than a suite out of Florida - Never sailed in an Inside cabin or Ocean view 2. No-one seems to factor in the space of a larger cabin. If it takes the space on the cruise ship of three smaller cabins it will often cost the cruise line money in square footage per passenger 3. As I said, I have sympathy with both views, but I like the idea that people with less money (who express loyalty) are provided the perks richer people often take for granted.
