Someone I know was up at Niagara Falls last weekend. They could not get to the Canadian side. They also didn't have passports so that could have been the issue.

I can practically see the Queenston Lewiston bridge from my yard (Canadian side)..... there's no Canadian car traffic crossing to the US..... and even the allowable transport trucks have decreased significantly.

I might even venture down to the Falls this weekend, no tourists so it'll be quiet and accessible. Normally we don't go near the place from May 24 until after New Years!

I miss Niagara Falls. We used to live in Detroit and would go there at least once a year. One of my favorite places to be (outside of being on a cruise, of course).  Now that we're in North Carolina, it just doesn't happen with any frequency. 😢

The Canadian side of the falls used to be a yearly fall car trip for us.

Last year we did it on our Thanksgiving day.

It is a 3 1/2 car trip from where we live.

This year we ventured to the American side and visited the falls as well as the forts, and the basic touristy stuff.

Walked and walked and walked Goat island.

Seneca casino was very kind to us.

It is not the same fun as Clifton Hill, and love the casino in Canada, but it was a good safe getaway.

Wish the border was open.

I was just thinking what torture that must be for someone who was supposed to become Pinnacle in 2020 and now has to sit there unsure what ship might finally get them across the line.  Hope it happens for you sooner rather than later.

Cheers!  🍷

Thanks...but even if we had turned...as with current Pinnies, being at that level and not be able to use it, is the pits as well.  No cruise...no perks.  😮

As we all quickly move from one level to the next, remember that everyone else on board the ship is doing the same thing. Some even more quickly.

Quite honestly, I don’t think Royal  Caribbean thought out the wording “double points” when they rolled out the promotion.   I am sure many on these threads are more familiar with getting the most out of the crown and anchor point program than anybody in the royal Caribbean office.  I can’t imagine  the solo in a Junior suite scenario even occurred to those creating the promotion.   On the other hand, Royal Caribbean has nothing to lose by giving people points.  It doesn’t really cost that much and they get great PR and cash for the quarter for new bookings. I believe there was a thread about another cruise line that gave points for canceled cruises. This could be a Royal Caribbean’s answer to that.

It will be interesting  to see if there are any transformations to the crown and anchor program. With the swift rise to diamond,  diamond plus and pinnacle I suspect that there will have to be changes to some of the tiers or benefits.   Not including issues with COVID-19 (Hopefully that will not be around forever) a benefit  as simple as a meal with an officer given at a mid-level of diamond plus, and also at pinnacle, could be impossible to provide.  Too many would be eligible.   And there simply aren’t enough specialty restaurant spaces for all the people who will have the opportunity to use the diamond plus restaurant  Bogo.   Wonder if there will be complaining if crown and anchor benefits change. This point benefit promotion might fall into the category of “be careful what you wish for.”

Royal Caribbean doesn’t care how many crown and anchor members are on a cruise, except to brag about it during the upper tier crown and anchor event. They like to boast if the majority of the ship is some particular level and above.  They  don’t care, and they shouldn’t, if a lounge where  free drinks are provided is too crowded. That is an amazing problem for them to have. They were kind to give three vouchers to allow you to have those drinks someplace else to alleviate the crowds. Those that choose  to get the drinks elsewhere can,  and those who prefer to stay in a dedicated lounge can also do so.

With all that said, I do hope that Royal Caribbean can sail soon.  Guests can take advantage of this amazing point offer, and those of us who simply  love cruising can get back on the high seas.

In looking at the description of the I Loyalty 2X Points promotion it says "Loyalty 2X Points applies to new, individual, and named group bookings confirmed at prevailing rates, and existing bookings made prior to October 19, 2020 on all Eligible Sailings."

Promotions and Deals Terms & Conditions to include Loyalty 2X Points

Does that mean the booking had to be made PRIOR to the promotion coming out today Oct 19?

On another Social Media site the screenshot below was posted. Does that mean you're not eligible for the Loyalty 2X Points if you have a Balcony Discount?   Not surprisingly what has been reported so far isn't at all clear.

I just did a dummy booking on the RCI website using the double points promotion link and it gave me the balcony discount as well as my DP340 single rate, so I don’t think the above is correct.

I was on track to make pinnacle by the end of 2021.  Then Covid came and I watched 12 of my cruises get cancelled.  Now with the double points, I will make pinnacle by mid 2021.  Thank you Royal, I am a happy camper.

Ditto.  Fast track for us....assuming everything sails that we have booked.  Most likely some of the early ones will get cancelled.

Wait until Royal adds the new "Diamond Superior" status, talk about people howling and complaining then...

You have no idea what a can of worms you just opened. Some on this thread will understand.

Do you get double points for Casino Cruises if you don’t upgrade?  I was thinking so but not sure?

Thanks

I actually don’t know the answer to that question.  I have always upgraded our casino comp offers.  I know there was a battle a couple of years ago when CR tried to deny double points for casino comp suite upgrades and CR reversed their decision. I am anticipating 4X points for our casino comp suite upgrades.  I guess we’ll find in Feb when my first casino comp Suite upgrades come around.

Maybe with the upcoming surge of Pinnacles RCI should designate a specific lounge area so they can enjoy their benefits and friends.
This way they will be done with the suite/pinnacle lounge debate.
They earned their just cause by loyalty.  It should be recognized no matter how many on a sailing.

I was told once that you did not get any points if you did not upgrade.  Since I have always upgraded, I have always received points.  I too will find out next spring if it is also double points.

I posted that on another thread and got lambasted.  Bet lots of opinions will change now that people are moving there quicker.
