masteradept Posted December 8, 2020 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2020 Just saw two posts on two separate forums from guests on board that at around 2am local time it was announced that Quantum would be returning to Singapore and guests were asked to remain in their cabins... looks like a positive case on board. Ship tracking also shows the ship returning to port a day early. Hope all goes well...

Sunshine3601 Posted December 8, 2020 #11 Share Posted December 8, 2020 Oh No! Is this the 3rd sailing? Singapore has very low cases of covid. Let's hope it is a false positive. Somehow MSC was able to do several months of successful cruises (all but 2 cruises in October) without covid onboard. Let's hope RCL can do it. Look how low Singapore cases are compared to the US and only residents of Singapore are allowed on the Quantum sailings.
Baron Barracuda Posted December 8, 2020 #14 Share Posted December 8, 2020 So what does "going into quarantine" imply? Will passengers be restricted to ship for a period of time or considering all are Singapore residents will those who test negative simply be allowed to disembark and return home?
HaveWeMetYet Posted December 8, 2020 #15 Share Posted December 8, 2020 CDC licking their chops about right now. This is going to be one of the big problems cruising with covid raging. Now everyone has to stay in their cabins and the cruise is cut short. Imagine if this was a US cruise and you had to follow all the CSO stuff. No Thanks, I will gladly wait it out. https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5780/

COVID-19 is not a joke or fake news meant to destroy the cruise industry. It is a deadly killer that is still striking at the heart of our country and so many others. Don't blame the media. In retrospect the cruise industry tried to come back too quickly and will pay the price. In addition, this mistake will cause our safe return to cruising to be further delayed. 27

RC has worked with the Singapore Govt to set standards and a plan is in place. One part of this plan was no more than a 6 hour sale back to Singapore. QoS has an isolation ward in the hospital and lots of fresh are plus 2 types of contact tracing devices. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/sgp/en/royal-promise I hope it’s a testing error as all individuals had a PCR test before the cruise. This test is the gold standard and has been in use in Singapore since the beginning. 1

bluesea777 Posted December 8, 2020 #23 Share Posted December 8, 2020 (edited) Not surprised! The incubation period of catching covid is between 4 and about 15 days. You stand next to a person infected with covid and not become positive until at least 4 days later. So the negative pre-travel test really do not help as you might catch it on the way to airport and during your journey to the port to board the ship. Here in Bermuda we have now seen an increase of positives ... the travellers (returning residents or tourists) test negative for their pre-travel but test positive on arrival, OR test negative on their pre-travel and arrival tests but positive on day 4 test, OR test negative on first 3 tests and test positive on day 8 test. All arrivals must quarantine until their day 8 test. Edited December 8, 2020 by bluesea777 1
