Poll: If Royal Doesn’t Require A COVID-19 Vaccine For Its Passengers, Would You Still Cruise with RCI???

  1. 1. Would you cruise on a Royal ship even if RCI doesn’t require the passengers to have received the COVID-19 vaccine?

    • Sign me up, I already received the vaccine or plan on getting it before I go on a cruise so I’m not concerned if it’s not required for others.

    • Sign me up. I do not have immediate plans to get the vaccine. I would provide a negative viral test result or documentation of recovery prior to boarding, if required, and follow RCI’s requirements for social distancing, washing hands, and wearing a mask when social distancing wasn’t possible.

    • I would not go on a cruise with unvaccinated passengers. I have received the vaccine already or plan on getting it before I go on a cruise.

    • I do not plan on cruising with RCI in the foreseeable future regardless of the vaccination requirements.

And unfortunately their choice affects us if the ship gets quarantined or the cruise cut short.

That is why the ships need a protocol to handle people testing positive for covid that does not require an entire ship to be quarantined or any change to the itinerary.

That made me chuckle, because in Canada, that means a different thing.

You won’t have them for very long if you keep them on your from porch.  A friend of mine mentioned that people are now scoping out peoples yards using drones looking for plants.

Exactly, I really do wonder how many people who post on here about cruise lines being able to deny people, will be back on here in a snit later saying "they wouldn't let me on board, discrimination, class-action lawsuit," etc. Be careful what you wish for, indeed.

It is very cut and dry what I wish for. All passengers and crew be vaccinated against Covid-19. Easy peasy.

Yes, it was happening in London this fall as well.

Biker, who wonders whether folks will debate the data or something else.

This data shows 100% of the UAE have had their first dose.  Not that 100% are completely vaccinated.  It may also show that the Sinofarm vaccine is not a efficacious as may have been hoped which is why the UAE is using a 3rd dose booster in some cases

It depends on the definition of fully vaccinated and the kind of vaccine being used.

It appears that the UAE is using Sinofarm which is meant to be a 2 dose vaccine so few are fully vaccinated.  As I stated above they are going to give a 3rd dose of Sinofarm in some cases.

I appreciate your bringing statistics to what is often an overly emotional discussion.

My wishes won't change but that is for home ports in the US.

You do know, nothing that is discussed here will make any difference to what Royal decides to mandate. If I thought it did, I would encourage them to ban those over 70 until such time as I reach the age of 70.

If there were a ban of 70+ that would let me out.

Why aren't you using your M8 signature any more? I've seen a few of your posts without your signature.

What’s my signature?

So it’s ok for you to suggest restrictions that suit you but it’s not ok when I suggest one?

No, that's not what I was trying to say. All I meant was that if 70+ were restricted from cruising (as you suggested), I would not be cruising because I'm 71. So.....that let's me out.

Ok. But my point is you want all these restrictions for others. Why shouldn’t they have age restrictions?  You can’t dispute the data that suggests those 70 or over are more likely to have issues than those younger.  Just say’n.

You want everyone to wear a mask, two of them or more but blinded that the older people are, the more likely to become seriously ill from Covid. Eliminate those over 70 and maybe mask wouldn’t be necessary for those younger people vaccinated.

You must be thinking of someone else. I have never said I want everyone to wear a mask on a cruise. Two masks??? NEVER EVER will I wear two masks. I never said that. To be honest, I do not plan on cruising until the mask mandate is lifted so it may be a loooooooong time before I cruise again.

I want every person who boards a cruise ship to be vaccinated  and that includes all passengers and all crew. I have been saying that even before these vaccines had emergency approval. My views on that have not changed.

Now getting to the restrictions of passengers 70 or older......As I think more about this, why restrict folks 70 or older if ALL PASSENGERS AND CREW are vaccinated? The vaccines prevent bad outcomes if anyone of any age becomes infected with Covid. That is the simple solution for cruise lines to be able to operate safely, at least with start up.

As it is now, children can cruise as long as they have a negative test three days prior to sailing. I don't understand why you are still wanting the older folks to be restricted from cruising, especially if they are vaccinated and pose no threat to themselves or anyone else. Am I still missing something or not understanding your agenda?

I can handle wearing a mask onboard in public spaces, but if we had to wear one on our balcony?  No way.  That would be a game changer for me.  It would be the only place you might be able to catch some fresh air onboard.  If they take that away, it is more than I would be willing to take.

As it is, I've read where the Las Vegas casinos require guests to wear masks even while sitting on their lounge chairs at the pool, even if the chairs are spread 6' apart.  Ugh!  I am not a big pool person anyway, but I can't imagine sitting out in hot, humid weather wearing a mask.  Since the cruise ships have even less room to spread out lounge chairs than the resorts do, I wonder if they will require masks there as well.

I am with you on that, at least on your own balcony you want to breath fresh air without wearing a mask, I assume even when on your deck chair that should be possbile. But wearing a mask, especially indoors is no issue at all.

Your buddy, Dr Flipflop, whom you support, says wear two masks even if vaccinated. I assume you follow his narrative?  I believe if you go back and look at your previous posts, you will see where you support that narrative.

I personally don’t really care about age restrictions, it was just an example. At first, I wasn’t sure if the vaccinated would or wouldn’t infect others. The data now seems to indicate that those with the vaccine and those previously infected just don’t build up the viral load to infect others. These are things we know. Therefore, if true, masks should not be required. As far as variance virus, we don’t know. We don’t know a lot of things. Until they have data that proves otherwise, we shouldn’t do things based on what we don’t know. What better way to entice those who are resistant to getting the vaccine then to tell them they can toss the mask out. I bet a whole bunch more will get vaccinated.

You are correct that I do support Dr. Fauci. However, I don't agree with his 2 masks deal. Never will, never have and will never wear 2 masks at the same time. Nope. Not me.

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed that when push comes to shove, masking will not be required of fully vaccinated people on a cruise ship. Still waiting to hear a definite directive that vaccinated people are not able to infect others. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Still waiting.
