Poll: If Royal Doesn’t Require A COVID-19 Vaccine For Its Passengers, Would You Still Cruise with RCI???

  1. 1. Would you cruise on a Royal ship even if RCI doesn’t require the passengers to have received the COVID-19 vaccine?

    • Sign me up, I already received the vaccine or plan on getting it before I go on a cruise so I’m not concerned if it’s not required for others.

    • Sign me up. I do not have immediate plans to get the vaccine. I would provide a negative viral test result or documentation of recovery prior to boarding, if required, and follow RCI’s requirements for social distancing, washing hands, and wearing a mask when social distancing wasn’t possible.

    • I do not plan on cruising with RCI in the foreseeable future regardless of the vaccination requirements.

Google it.  The UAE rate is nowhere near 100%.  In fact, Israel is higher and they aren't at 100%.

Ah, the age old question of which facts on the Internet to believe; perhaps some posts in this thread would help.....

You posted yours like it was a fact when every single site I can find with vaccine stats says a much lower vaccine rate.  Keep believing that the UAE has vaccinated 100% but they have not.  No country has.

I think you missed the point. The internet and CC in particular is about showing that my "facts" are better than your "facts".

By next year this time, there could be a pill treatment similar to Tamiflu that knocks out COVID completely.  5 day stay at home treatment.  Evidence of having that treatment and/or updated vaccines could go a long way to easing mask and social distancing onboard cruise ships.

I'm waiting for the determination that vaccinated people can not transmit the disease to others. There is evidence already, coming out of Israel, that the Pfizer vaccine may prevent vaccinated people from transmitting the virus to others. The reason being is that vaccinated people have a lower viral load in their naso pharynx and the amount of virus they shed is not enough to infect others. Want a link to that information? Google it. You will find it. Promise.

To get cruising started again and as safe as possible, I'm still in the camp that ships should mandate all passengers and crew be vaccinated. IMHO, this would only be temporary. Once it is deemed feasible that cruise ships can safely operate, then maybe by that time there will be a vaccine for children.

If they can mandate vaccines then certainly they can mandate Doctors permission for those over 70.

Why would a mandate for those over 70 be needed if those over 70 are vaccinated? Seems redundant, actually. Maybe either or.....vaccinated OR have a letter from the doctor if over 70, That makes more sense to me.

Over 70 for other health reasons. I’m just saying, if they can mandate vaccines, they can mandate requirements for Dr permission to sail for any particular age. Just be careful what you ask for.

Keep it simple... mandate a vaccine.

I totally agree. I much prefer a vaccine mandate but was responding to another poster about a doctor's letter for people over 70.

I’m pretty sure you have made that clear. 😇

As they have already done it, it would be easy for the Cruise lines to mandate a Dr permission based on age.

I don't see anything wrong with that. Hubby and I will comply if that is what they want. We want to cruise so if a doctor's note is needed, we will do it.

As I may have mentioned before there are always people who are perfectly happy being told how many plants they and their neighbors can have on their front porches.

I wonder if my neighbors work for the CDC or some other Federal government agency.  They've been telling me what I should do with my yard for as long as I can remember. When to cut the grass, blow the leaves, etc.

I've given them free reign to come in and mow, cut, plant, trim, water and fertilize to their hearts content. They never take me up on my offer. Maybe they really do work for the government.

Yeah me too. From the beginning I've been saying be careful when asking for people to be excluded because you may find yourself being excluded yourself.

Exactly, I really do wonder how many people who post on here about cruise lines being able to deny people, will be back on here in a snit later saying "they wouldn't let me on board, discrimination, class-action lawsuit," etc. Be careful what you wish for, indeed.

That made me chuckle, because in Canada, that means a different thing.

That is not proven and as time goes by I think it will be proven that vaccinated people do not have enough viral load to be contagious.  If there are people on board who have not been vaccinated then that is their choice to be at risk.

And unfortunately their choice affects us if the ship gets quarantined or the cruise cut short.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I was trying to keep the focus regarding the vaccine being a requirement.  Wearing a mask is another topic for which people have an opinion and for which there are science studies on.

I think RCI will definitely have restrictions in place whenever they start back up in the USA.  Hopefully, we can at least avoid wearing a mask on our balcony.

I can handle wearing a mask onboard in public spaces, but if we had to wear one on our balcony?  No way.  That would be a game changer for me.  It would be the only place you might be able to catch some fresh air onboard.  If they take that away, it is more than I would be willing to take.

As it is, I've read where the Las Vegas casinos require guests to wear masks even while sitting on their lounge chairs at the pool, even if the chairs are spread 6' apart.  Ugh!  I am not a big pool person anyway, but I can't imagine sitting out in hot, humid weather wearing a mask.  Since the cruise ships have even less room to spread out lounge chairs than the resorts do, I wonder if they will require masks there as well.

Yeah, and right now if you test positive, you're kicked off at the next port and the ship continues on its way. There have been some interesting reports about isolated incidents recently in the Canary Islands. The fact that the media hasn't sensationalized them is a good sign.
