K.T.B. Posted June 11, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2021 600 passengers. ONLY 2 show as asymptomatic. 0.33% of the passengers. On a ship where everyone is supposed to be vaccinated. Seriously, nothing to see here. 12
Thrak Posted June 11, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2021 (edited) This article says they are "in isolation". Another articles says they are stuck in St. Maarten for now. No more cruise. The cruise line is supposedly going to help them (eventually) get home. I guess one of the articles is correct. I'm guessing the one linked that says they are in isolation is correct. Grover_ Posted June 11, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2021 I think Celebrity allows unvaccinated children under 16 on these sailings. I haven’t seen information about the ages of the passengers that tested positive.
KruzPrincess Posted June 11, 2021 #8 Share Posted June 11, 2021 Dang. It will be interesting when they sail from FL/TX without a vaccination requirement.
caribill Posted June 11, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2021 Also MSC Seaside in Europe which did not require passengers to be vaccinated reported two cases mid-cruise. The passengers, their traveling party and close contacts were immediately isolated. Ship had to skip a port stop in Malta. The two passengers and their traveling party left the ship in Sicily and were taken home "by protected MSC Cruises transport." Cruise then resumed rest of itinerary. https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiENXMInCwt8tMuuQ1DuhLSnIqGQgEKhAIACoHCAowjsP7CjCSpPQCMM_b5QU?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen 1
milolii Posted June 11, 2021 #10 Share Posted June 11, 2021 An article filed by a passenger who is a reporter, states there are 6 children on board. Passenger states she was on a shore excursion with the two who tested positive. And is now quarantined to cabin, being treated well. https://thepointsguy.com/news/celebrity-millennium-cruise-ship-covid/ 1

I don’t want to be quarantined especially when the CDC says there is no need for fully vaccinated to quarantine. I truly hope this is an anomaly and not a sign of things to come.
PrincessLuver Posted June 11, 2021 #12 Share Posted June 11, 2021 Probably passengers with fake vaccination cards.....this will probably be a common and sensational news item once cruising starts and I sure there are going to be some Covid cruises from hell returning too.......

Wishing on a star Posted June 11, 2021 #14 Share Posted June 11, 2021 (edited) Don't know about the possible fake Vaccination documents. Possible!!! I don't think all of these cases are 'VAX Required' cruises. But, doubt the authorities will be able to investigate and verify if the Vaccination Records were legit. Rare c-boy Posted June 11, 2021 #19 Share Posted June 11, 2021 Keep Calm And Carry On "Because the cruise is a fully vaccinated sailing, the science and procedures in place have also helped to keep us calm, and the announcement of the positive tests didn't seem to break the mostly optimistic atmosphere onboard. Because of the protocols in place, most guests were able to continue their cruise as planned -- attending shows in the theater, grabbing drinks at the lounges and frequenting the casino. The current mood and reaction of passengers -- combined with the line's ability to swiftly put their protocols in motion -- serve as a reminder of how far we have come since the beginning of the pandemic -- and how cruise is uniquely positioned to deal with such an eventuality" some of you Henny Penny's should read this article. https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/6183/ 8

Syracusefan44 Posted June 11, 2021 #21 Share Posted June 11, 2021 The cruise lines should be requiring vaccinations on each ship," says @ScottGottliebMD. "They should try to achieve 100% vaccination among passengers and certainly crew--to try to create a protective bubble around that experience at least for the time being." https://twitter.com/squawkcnbc/status/1403315184878469120?s=21 3

I think that anyone on a "vaccinated" cruise who tests positive during the cruise should have their true vaccination status confirmed with their doctor or state/national health authorities. If it's proved that they used fake vaccination cards and have not really been vaccinated, they should be ordered to pay fines or restitution to the cruise line and all others affected by their charade. Not a popular option I'm sure but perhaps advance notice of such possible actions will cut down or even eliminate any attempts to game the system. Rare c-boy Posted June 11, 2021 #23 Share Posted June 11, 2021 now hold on here people. You are going down a slippery slope here with statements of false vaccination cards. Any thing of that nature has to be verified, speculation on this thread don't cut it. " Even with a fully vaccinated (and tested) crew and passenger base, breakthrough cases could happen. They've happened on land, and they certainly could happen at sea. As one cruise line exec said: "You'll never eliminate COVID entirely, it's how you deal with it that is important." 8
Barry ATL Posted June 11, 2021 #24 Share Posted June 11, 2021 DH and I discussed this and our first take was a question. As unlikely as breakthrough cases are, what are the chances that two people sharing the same cabin both have a breakthrough case at the same time?

Assuming properly administered, including wait-times between and after shots, two-shot Moderna or Pfizer, .05 x .05 = .0025 or .25% times the standard infection rate. Crazy low, but still possible, and even likely, over huge populations. Edited June 11, 2021 by CruiseMrB
