I think RCI learned its lesson in bringing older ships back into the fleet with Empress.

Royal had no idea that cruises to Cuba would be stopped by the government due to increased restrictions. Took longer and was more expensive than previously estimated to bring her condition up to Royal standards. It was also a wise choice at the time to spend the money to give Boleros a heavy Cuban theme. Empress really was perfect for these Cuba sailings. Best espresso at the cafe in Boleros on any Royal ship I may add.

The added cost could of been easily recouped had she been allowed to sail for years longer without the government intervention. Empress was easier to sell off due to her recent renovation. Horizon will need a little more love, but World Cruises command a high per diem. It would justify the investment needed to get her ready.

M Bayley's post has been edited with "news of a lifetime" removed.

Understand that and I originally took it the wrong way. The 'lifetime' response originally stated seems to be a perfect teaser to a World Cruise.

I bet it is the deal about the buffet being open for dinner. Word is that after Nov 1st it will go into normal operation......

Would be a good thing, but just not the 'wow' factor worthy of the hype posting from yesterday.

I really would of thought this 'news' would of been officially released no later than 24 hrs from the original posting. I am not at a PR guy, but just seems to be too prolonged at this point to serve as a positive response or purpose.

Agree, the excitement and anticipation has kind of faded

Leaving more questions unanswered seems to be the wrong way to go. Just provide information as soon as it is available without a 'teaser' post. Why? Providing specific and precise information when many are hesitant to even book a cruise is the right policy.

The original 'lifetime' reference means to me a World Cruise as you usually do it once in your lifetime. I am guessing the former Celebrity/Pullmantur Horizon doing this cruise because of the Horizon reference. Her smaller size will allow her to visit more ports.

Horizon was scrapped this year.

Please share your source of this information. Everything I read is that she is in Greece and not scrapped.

MV Horizon (Pullmantur Cruises)

The cruise ship MV Horizon has been known under a handful of different names but the main name Horizon came from the Celebrity Cruises when the cruise line operated the ship from 1990 to 2005. Just like other ships in the Pullmantur fleet, MV Horizon is to be scrapped in Turkey, a sad ending for such an interesting vessel.

All the important equipment was taken from the vessel in Athens, Greece, and now the ship seems to be awaiting the scrapyard. Royal Caribbean took back control of the ship when Pullmantur filed for reorganization in Spain, which is a form of bankruptcy.

Horizon has also sailed for Island Cruises and Croisieres de France. The ship is 46,811 gross tons with a passenger capacity of 1,442 along with 620 crew members. She was last refurbished to become part of the Pullmantur fleet in 2012.

I don't know if it is ok to post the website or not.

You're welcome, coaster.

Hope Royal gives me credit somehow if I am correct... Seems like a riddle thrown out there for someone to figure out.

I also think it is a World Cruise with all those photos.  Hope it is as we would book in a heartbeat !!

Even if Cuba worked, Covid hits and Royal would have scraped her before now

You all have too many silly and crazy ideas.

Obviously the announcement will be a new Emerald Lounge!!!

AND, first time cruisers with inside cabins on decks below 4 on all ships will have full access to the Diamond Lounge.

AND,  Bon Jovi, Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Zepplin and a few more will be head liners on Radiance Class ships.

AND,  ... ok I am out....

those vaccinated passengers that are fully vaccinated

and have a booster shot will no longer have to take

an antigen covid test 48 hrs. before sailing

that is my guess

Either or both of these would make my cruising much more enjoyable.

Royal then owns both Coco Cay and its neighbor, Great Stirrup Cay. Royal then announces the "iSling"--a large slingshot ride to shuttle guests between the two islands. Guests on Coco Cay are launched to a large trampoline on Great Stirrup Cay.

maybe people could just jump in the hot air balloon and take the short trip to the other island.

And no smoking in the casino!
