QuickieGlenn Posted October 29, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2021 Looking into going on the Harmony of the Seas Never been on this class ship before and am looking at Ocean View Balcony Handicapped rooms, midship, and they have decks 6,9,10 & 11 available Any opinions? I know older ships maybe the balcony changes (closed verses glass) or noise considerations Thanks
cruisegirl1 Posted October 29, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2021 My best advise it to look at deck plans. We prefer a cabin that has no public space above or below. We've been on all these decks and there is no difference or preference. The ship is large and it is good you are looking at mid ship. But - why did you say that Harmony is "old." The ship is abut 5 years old, a baby in ship years. Enjoy the beautiful ship. M

I know older ships maybe the balcony changes (closed verses glass) or noise considerations Thanks We like deck 6 because it is near so much. You have access to the Boardwalk and all the venues there. It also gives us the ability to go down one flight of stairs to the Royal Promenade or up two to Central Park but since you are looking for an accessible cabin, that is likely not a consideration. The balconies on Harmony are glass fronted, I think you might be thinking of the older first generation Voyager class ships.
QuickieGlenn Posted October 29, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted October 29, 2021 I meant old since I have not sailed on RCl since 2010 on the Explorer of the Seas and on deck 6 the balcony was steel Thanks

What they said! We typically pick deck 6 & 7 for that very reason... one or two flights down (Maybe 3 if going to the casino...) and an elevator ride to the rest.
coaster Posted October 29, 2021 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2021 Lowest deck for oceanview balcony is deck 6. Easy choice to see the ocean without being high up.

Rare crewsweeper Posted October 30, 2021 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2021 We have had accessible cabins on decks 9 and 10 on the Oasis and Symphony. Our Jan22 cruise on the Harmony is an accessible cabin on deck 9. Elevators are close by. Cabins above and below.
maureencruiser Posted October 30, 2021 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2021 I also prefer Deck 6, have it booked for next 2 cruises. Easy access to Boardwalk and Schooner bar. I got aft cabins so I will be right at the Boardwalk, not have to negotiate a long passenger hallway.
Rare orville99 Posted October 30, 2021 #10 Share Posted October 30, 2021 We would choose deck 9 over Deck 6. Deck 6 balconies are over the running track and lifeboats, so there will be a higher probability of random noise/activity. Deck 9 would be a lot quieter.
HicksRA Posted October 30, 2021 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2021 I’ve stayed on deck 6 and never heard a sound from below. We stayed in a cabin close to the rear elevators and it was perfect for us. Right around the corner and outside to the Boardwalk and only one flight down to the promenade. If you have limited mobility (assumed if you’re booking an accessible cabin), you might find the lower decks preferable.
Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted October 30, 2021 #12 Share Posted October 30, 2021 I've heard that deck 8 on ships with Central park is nice for crossing from one side to the other. On the Allure we were on deck 10 forward and would go down 2 decks, cross over to aft, and then up or down to where we needed. We were assigned to deck 9 on Harmony (in 3 weeks). I just chose a balcony on deck 8 forward for our future Allure cruise.

matj2000 Posted October 30, 2021 #14 Share Posted October 30, 2021 Best Deck for a cabin? deck 14 And as close to the stairs/elevators as possible Just below the pool deck, makes easy back and forth to my pool side chair all day.
Baowen Posted November 1, 2021 #15 Share Posted November 1, 2021 I prefer deck 8 for this class of ship. You are on the same deck as Park Cafe and Central Park. Beth
Norwich Cruiser Posted November 1, 2021 #16 Share Posted November 1, 2021 We prefer deck eight on Oasis class ships. Central Park The Trellis Bar and Park Cafe only a short walk away.
Ocean Boy Posted November 1, 2021 #17 Share Posted November 1, 2021 I am also a fan of deck 8 on O class ships. Deck 9 is fine too. It is just one flight of stairs to the Park Cafe and Trellis bar. It is very easy to grab a coffee or drink to take back to the cabin.

gmkgks Posted December 2, 2021 #24 Share Posted December 2, 2021 You don’t need another person telling you deck 8 is best, but here I am doing it. If 8 is not available, then 9.
