Harmony of the Seas best deck

Looking into going on the Harmony of the Seas

 

Never been on this class ship before and am looking at Ocean View Balcony Handicapped rooms, midship, and they have decks 6,9,10 & 11 available

Any opinions? I know older ships maybe the balcony changes (closed verses glass) or noise considerations

My best advise it to look at deck plans.  We prefer a cabin that has no public space above or below.  We've been on all these decks and there is no difference or preference.  The ship is large and  it is good you are looking at mid ship.  

 

But - why did you say that Harmony is  "old."  The ship is abut 5 years old,  a  baby in ship years.

We like deck 6 because it is near so much.  You have access to the Boardwalk and all the venues there.  It also gives us the ability to go down one flight of stairs to the Royal Promenade or up two to Central Park but since you are looking for an accessible cabin, that is likely not a consideration.  The balconies on Harmony are glass fronted, I think you might be thinking of the older first generation Voyager class ships.

I meant old since I have not sailed on RCl since 2010 on the Explorer of the Seas and on deck 6 the balcony was steel

What they said!  We typically pick deck 6 & 7 for that very reason...  one or two flights down (Maybe 3 if going to the casino...) and an elevator ride to the rest.

Lowest deck for oceanview balcony is deck 6. Easy choice to see the ocean without being high up.

We have had accessible cabins on decks 9 and 10 on the Oasis and Symphony.  Our Jan22 cruise on the Harmony is an accessible cabin on deck 9.  Elevators are close by. Cabins above and below.

I also prefer Deck 6, have it booked for next 2 cruises.  Easy access to Boardwalk and Schooner bar.  I got aft cabins so I will be right at the Boardwalk, not have to negotiate a long passenger hallway.

We would choose deck 9 over Deck 6. Deck 6 balconies are over the running track and lifeboats, so there will be a higher probability of random noise/activity. Deck 9 would be a lot quieter.

I’ve stayed on deck 6 and never heard a sound from below. We stayed in a cabin close to the rear elevators and it was perfect for us. Right around the corner and outside to the Boardwalk and only one flight down to the promenade.  
If you have limited mobility (assumed if you’re booking an accessible cabin), you might find the lower decks preferable.

I've heard that deck 8 on ships with Central park is nice for crossing from one side to the other. On the Allure we were on deck 10 forward and would go down 2 decks, cross over to aft, and then up or down to where we needed. We were assigned to deck 9 on Harmony (in 3 weeks). I just chose a balcony on deck 8 forward for our future Allure cruise.

Central Park The Trellis Bar and Park Cafe only a short walk away.

I am also a fan of deck 8 on O class ships. Deck 9 is fine too. It is just one flight of stairs to the Park Cafe and Trellis bar. It is very easy to grab a coffee or drink to take back to the cabin.

You don’t need another person telling you deck 8 is best, but here I am doing it. If 8 is not available, then 9.

I was able to book  a HC room on Deck 9

 

Can you wait to buy the insurance and prepay gratuities later
