Good morning from a frigid northeast Ohio.  It was 1F when I got up.  It is now 2F.  Nothing planned here except the pool at 10:00 am.

Today's meal is a great one.   You can use a variety of different kinds of perogies - potato and onion, potato and cheese.   I wouldn't use the sauerkraut ones in this dish because of the cabbage, but you could if you wanted to do so.  This is an extremely easy dish to prepare and so satisfying to eat.

Here is a standard preparation for the meal:  https://noplatelikehome.com/kielbasa-pierogies-fried-cabbage-recipe/

You can also make this a sheet pan dinner:   https://12tomatoes.com/sheet-pan-kielbasa-pierogi/

I bet it is just as good when done in the slow cooker:  https://parade.com/841587/deannasamaan/buttery-slow-cooker-cabbage-pierogies-and-kielbasa/

I think I'll go with this one because the red cabbage gives such a nice contrast.   https://www.jerseygirlcooks.com/pierogi-with-red-cabbage-and-kielbasi/

Prayers for all who need them and cheers to those who are celebrating.

Enjoy!

Punch a clock, dishwashing in nursing home, college cafeteria, Scientific Atlanta, early days in Arts Center call center, and now I just punch an alarm clock when I have to get up early for a doctors appointment.  Working from home, I have to text that I am at work, and text when i leave my desk.

@kazu I am just glad when you post.  Vent away.  I am so sorry about everything you are going through right now.  You are in my prayers every day.

@grapau27 Thank you for the recent food porn, and the wonderful pictures of your family.  I am so glad that you are posting the weekly sermon.  They are truly inspiring.

No adventures planned for today, just work, walk the neighbors dog, find and feed the new stray...and read the Daily!

Thank for the Thursday Daily, Rich.

I appreciate National Geographic but don’t need to punch the clock nor chocolate cake.  Good quote by Gide. 👍

Sorry I haven’t been posting.  I’ve been in a bit of a funk between seeing my lawyer and Financial Planner and paperwork for things I never thought I would have to plan for 😔  I do appreciate all of you caring very much ♥️ And sorry I haven’t been on to commiserate with all of you who need support and join in the celebrations of those with  joyous news.  😣

Marley’s blood profile is worse than when he was sick and he’s going on a special prescription that hopefully will help 🤞 Why should I have expected good news?

Our “light” snow turned into a mess on Tuesday and the temps are brutal here - -31 with a “feels like” -41 C.  Now an uncalled for clipper is moving in tonight to dump more snow and after that the ‘Nor Easter, predicted to be a weather bomb arrives on the weekend.

Final testing for Jose’s unit is supposed to be today.  If everyone is negative they will announce when I am permitted to go in.  If it’s this weekend, I’ll never be able to get there if what they are predicting for the Bay of Fundy holds true 😔

See?  I’m no fun at all this week.  All I do is complain about the weather and my plight.  A real Debbie Downer.  Why I haven’t posted.  My house is a disaster.  Once I get Marley’s prescription and a couple of things in advance of 3 days of snow I may try to clean the house.  I did say MAY 😉

Prayers for everyone on Roy’s Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a good Thursday everyone !!!

Stay safe and especially if you are in the path of the storm and please don’t forget your 😷

You are an amazing strong woman well demonstrated by the way you are navigating through so many challenges every day. Like all of your other friends and fans on the daily you are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. I pray that God continue to give you the strength to face each day, that he provides healing for Jose and Marley, and that you experience the peace that only He can provide.

Good morning friends!  Another cold morning, 30F.  Today is going to be sunny and 52F, tomorrow will be cloudy and 52 with a chance of flurries Friday night.  Better than many of you so I'm grateful for that. Chocolate Cake Day is a winner!  I just said last night I wish we had some chocolate cake.  I can appreciate National Geographic Day especially all the beautiful photos in that magazine.  At age 18 I had a job at Proctor and Gamble in St. Louis in the offices, and we had to punch a timecard, just like the factory workers did.  I'll be interested to see the pierogies recipe today.  The quote is a good one and very thought provoking.  We have been to Port-of-Spain once about 7 years ago.  I took a tour that day so got to see some of the surrounding area.  I will check my photo book to see what might be interesting to show you all later.

Prayers said this morning for our Care list and of course my own personal list of family or friends that need them.  I need to check with my sister on how my niece's husband is doing with his chemo this week.  Also, DSIL is planning on heading north tomorrow and will stay the night here with us (halfway point to home).  There will be services held for his Mom in Ohio, their home state, on Feb. 18.  No decisions made on whether his Dad will stay in Florida or move back to Ohio where DSIL and his sister live.  Anyway, thank you Roy @rafinmdfor the Care and Celebration lists.  Thank you Rich @richwmnfor the Daily.  It was great hearing from Jacqui @kazutoday.  We are glad to hear from you and don't think you are whining at all.  You have many things to work out and take care of and you are only one person!  I do hope the tests come back fine at the hospital so you can get in to see your beloved DH.  Also hoping that Marley's prescription does the trick, and that the darn weatherman is wrong about the extent of your nasty weather report.  We can't do much to help, but I wish I was close by so I could come over and help out with the house cleaning.  That is something I am good at!  We might wish for Gerry to come over and fix us some of her great cooking,  She always has such a nice way of describing her menus!  And she never forgets the wine!😁

Have a great day my friends!

Good Morning from a bright and sunny day at the beach

Chocolate cake sounds pretty good about now!  The quote is so true, never been to todays port.

@kazu Jacqui, never apologize for venting to us.  You are among people who care about you and Jose. I hope to someday meet you both on a beautiful ship.

My new laptop arrived last nite. Now I have to call my friend who is super techy to set it up for me.

Rocket launch this evening. Hope the weather holds.

I am going to go for a nice long walk on the beach while the sun is out.

Stay safe and enjoy today

Thanks for daily report.  I love chocolate cake, but rarely have it.  I was surprised to learn that Disney owns National Geographic- a magazine I read in my youth.

prayers to all who need them.  Best wishes.

This surprised me as well so I had to look it up. Wikipedia entry in part states:

In September 2015, the National Geographic Society moved the magazine to a new partnership, National Geographic Partners, in which 21st Century Fox held a 73% controlling interest.[11]

In December 2017 - to March 2019, Disney acquired 21st Century Fox,[12] including the latter's interest in National Geographic Partners.[13] NG Media publishing unit was operationally transferred into Disney Publishing Worldwide.[14]

Another article states that the 73% ownership is by Rupert Murdock. I would tend to believe the Wiki article

Good morning all. @kazusending hugs and prayers. Like others here, I wish I was closer to be able to help you.

we immigrated to Canada in 1952. One of the first subscriptions my dad got was to the national geographic magazine. He continued that subscription until the year 2000. All those magazines are on bookshelves in our downstairs bedroom. I also have some dating to the early 1900’s because at one time I was collecting them. Nobody wants any of them, superseded by the internet.

prayers for those that need them. Will lift a glass later to those celebrating.

Good morning  everyone. We have 13 degrees here but the sun is shining. A nor'easter  is headed our way starting tomorrow night. We shall see.

Chocolate  cake would be welcome in this house but I am not ready to bake today. I enjoy National  Geographic  and we have found interesting  streaming  on that app.We have not been to the port if the day.

Dinner tonight will be bean and cheese enchiladas, a popular offering  from my kitchen. We hope to have a decision about Tana's  possible move to a rehab hospital  today. The power of the medical industrial complex is something  else. She has been a nurse for over 20 years but appears to have a less than ideal policy.Hmmmm.Sorry but it is frustrating.

Good morning. It’s 40 degrees this morning but future forecast states our wind chill temps will be in the teens!

That’s a great quote today. Never had to “punch the clock” but being late in the military had it’s consequences. Probably why I’m always early for any appointment.

Chocolate cake or any dessert sounds great. Wasn’t easy but as of yesterday ten pounds have gone bye bye!

Jacqui, my goodness gal you are certainly being challenged but you definitely have a wonderful group of concerned folks here on CC for support and prayers. We are all open to well deserved venting. Keep the faith!

Thanks Rich for the Fleet Report. Sure would be nice to see all ships active with guest aboard. Roy thanks for the list and a special thanks to our food and wine editors!

Enjoy the day.

Good morning. Thanks for the Daily.

Yes to chocolate cake day. Never had to punch a clock. A salute to National Geographic.

Good quote.

I came to know today's meal when I moved to PA years ago. I like the drink and wine.

I haven't been to today's destination.

I missed posting yesterday, as I was cooking part of the day, then we opened our Christmas presents belatedly, then had a wonderful meal. The sauerbraten seemed extra delicious this year. It's very cold here this morning, -2F. Lots of schools on a 2 hour delay. We will get to 30F later.

I'll have to read and catch up with yesterday's and today's posts. Once my guest has left tomorrow I"ll be back on my normal schedule.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers to the celebration List.

On Feb. 7, 2015 we were in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on the Ruby Princess on a cruise that took us from Fort Lauderdale all the way around South America and back up to Los Angeles, 49 days total.  I was interested in a tour there so DH stayed and enjoyed an empty ship while I went first to the historic Mount St. Benedict's Monastery.  It is located 800 feet up in the mountains.  Probably those same mountains seen in this photo.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLSGbr_STKxzG1ZYQ6mWyff?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213647

We headed out on the bus and up we went.  We arrived to see the monastery, a church and a place called Pax Guest House.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVI3uN_9mzdjfwA53tySSrhq?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213692

Good morning Rich and fellow Daily-ites.  Thank you for the Daily.

Sharon how is your family covid situation? Any news this morning?

Jacqui you are a wonder woman. Keep your strength but remember to put your faith and trust in God's lap. When Allen was so sick I put a prayer in my "God box" asking Him to put Allen in His care. Believe me, I was able to deal with our situation going forward knowing God held Allen. Being away from our home was the hardest because I didn't have my support group there. So know that when you post, your support group is with you and praying for you.

This morning is looking sunny. I have a much needed haircut today. Thinking of a simple ribeye, baked potato and asparagus for dinner.

Prayers lifted to all on our Roy's list. Sending blessings and cheer.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily report.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds good and @dfish pictures are very tempting.  We have been told to expect 12” of snow minimum on Saturday.  Made my trip to the grocery store last night instead of Saturday.  Think will be hours bound over the weekend.  There is plenty of wine and rum to get through the weekend.

@kazu please feel free to lean on us anytime.
I enjoy a good chocolate cake.  Bertuccis used to carry a five layer chocolate cake that was delicious.  It came from Reading, PA but can’t remember the bakery.

Thanks Rich, Roy and all who make the Daily happen.  Cheers to those celebrating and prayers for all of us because we certainly need them.

I love chocolate cake, especially red velvet. Lately I’ve been watching Life Below Zero on the NatGeo channel. It’s about how singles, couples and families have chosen to live around the Artic Circle in very isolated conditions and the ways they make happen things that we take for granted.
@kazu, Jacqui don’t sweat the small stuff. I had a organizing consulting business for years and often had clients with multiple issues going on. Most often keeping the house clean fell to the bottom of the To Do list. We talked about how just emptying the kitchen sink or doing a load of laundry could give them a sense of control in a time where everything else seemed out of their control. Just a thought 😘. Always happy to hear from you. Venting is healthy. Susan

We glanced around some nearby rooms.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIRoY9qQLfuXdb4wx_To95z?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213709

We could enjoy our refreshments outside on the verandah if we wished.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJ3ZttOtvPowc37W0d-Sqnb?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213712

I asked someone to take my photo and they did, just as I was removing my hat.  Oh well!00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKQvW3wtrMX8clvfo-muEXk?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213717

It was time to head back down to the city of Port-of-Spain to see the sights of the city.  We saw the National Library.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJCWSkP5gxIG3ugQdE65FP7?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213755

We weren't stopping at any of these unique buildings, just passing by on our way to the Royal Botanic Gardens.  Next we passed this domed building made of glass which was the National Academy of the Performing Arts.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLkJlU4Q_gI9aDSdcDoLPdI?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213802

Across from that building was the Trinidad War Memorial.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVL3RBSUO3YbDWCXTZgx8JVb?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213856

Close by in Queen's Park Savannah are the Magnificent Seven, a group of extravagant and eccentrically designed mansions.  Here are two of them.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLpL3uFMoXr9uPRWc6qFB0C?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213866

Entering the gardens which are located adjacent to the President's House.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJij8FOZBdY9l_3zDW_iDn5?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213914

Well it was nice to get out and walk around the gardens but they were not quite as exciting as other botanical gardens I've visited.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIH1axqu6l1R7CvS5bQ8hNw?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213997

The President's House was under renovation and was covered completely with a canopy like building.  Can you see it under there?00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIMSzvjYziABFwJRlayEH-j?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213981

And an empty fountain in front of it.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKfcy3PE5_gTojEriSl3tDp?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427213989

I'm sure they must be finished with it by now so hopefully it's a much prettier sight if you end up here in the near future.  That was it for my day in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

I loved your pictures.
