Good Morning from a sunny and warm day at the beach.

    Heavy rain and winds coming in later and then a cool down for a few days. Crazy!

World Health is very important. We all have to take care of our health because without it what is left.  Dont drink beer. Love Sea Bass, Todays menu looks wonderful. Thanks Debbie! @dfish

       We were in Fakarava in 2019 0n the Eurodam. Beautiful place. I dont know how to post pictures.  That is the island, I went in the water wearing my clothes. I was dry by the time I walked back to the ship.

       My saga with Flight Ease continues. No resolution yet. It is very weird.

I tried making my appointment for Global Entry after getting the conditional approval. No appointments in Orlando, Sanford or Tampa. Doesnt say for how long. Closest I could schedule was West Palm Beach in July! Oh well, field trip! I am going to try calling and see if I can get any information.  

   @grapau27 A very Happy Birthday wish to Pauline. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good morning  to all. Rain continues  on and off here but it  will be in the fifties later.World Health day is important  and I have family members who celebrate  beer often. We have not been to the port but hope to see pictures.

We are going to try the first recipe with garlic and butter using salmon today.That will please all of the group,especially  if I make mashed potatoes.

Today should be the last day of IV meds for Tana. She has  developed a rash that we assume is from that.I am sure it is a common side effect. 

We made appointments  to get our boosters on Friday. It has been hard to schedule  as there are a lot of people  interested.

Our weather in Central Florida is going to be just as @cunnorl described.  If tomorrow turn off as cool as is now predicted, my golf game will be cancelled (I'm strictly a fair weather, above 70 degrees kinda golfer anymore 😉).

Good morning all!

Like many other parts of the country, we're due for some crazy weather the next few days.  Yesterday was beautiful, in the low 60's F.  Today is predicted to get up to 72 -- but then tomorrow and Saturday thunderstorms and the "s" word on Sunday (!!)  I know it won't amount to much, but that's ridiculous.  So I plan to get as much gardening done as I can today while the ground is dry.

 

Good collection of days.  The only beer I like is dark, preferably Guinness.  Have never been to the port, but it's on the Grand Australia in 2 years.  I appreciate the great photos that have been posted!  Will pass on the drink.  I would try the wine, but don't usually care for sweet wines.  The meal sounds great, I think I'll make it with salmon tonight.  

 

Last night's take-out was a disappointment.  Gyros sounded really good, and in the past we really liked the ones from a local restaurant.  Well apparently since the last time we got them, they changed their Tzatziki sauce and it now has dill..... something I really don't care for at all.  I've had gyros in Greece many times, they never had dill.  So my question, what is the preference among the Dailyites?  Dill in Tzatziki or no dill?

 

Today is a red-letter day, the contractors will begin renovations on DS and DDIL's house.  I'm so excited for them!  They plan 6 months of renovations (they'll be doing a lot) so they won't move in until that is done.

@Norseh2oHappy 102nd birthday to your Dear Mom!  She looks fantastic!  My Dear Dad lived to 101 1/2, he looked good too.  🙂

Normally I don't like dill, unless it's a pickle...but our Greek restaurants' Tzatziki has dill, and i love theirs.

Maybe it's because I see it, but don't taste it.

 

When my dad was alive, we would hit as many Greek restaurants as we could for Greek Salad.  He lived near Tarpon Springs.  The big debate in that area was, should the Greek salad have potatoes, or no potatoes.  I like it both ways, but if we asked a non tater restaurant if they had potatoes they would tell us that a real Greek would never serve the salad with potatoes, and if they did have taters, they would say no real Greek would serve it without.

Thanks!  I thought it would be interesting to see how others feel.  So far I'm definitely in the minority, but that's nothing new lol!  I'm just surprised that in all the gyros I've eaten in Greece I've never, ever had one with dill.  Trust me, if I had I wouldn't still be eating them. 😉

Good morning Everyone.  It is very hot here in San Diego today --in the 90s.  And we have our east winds, or Santa Anas as we call them.  So keeping indoors and quiet today.

@Sharon in AZ, thinking of you with your dental work.  You have such a nice smile.  They'll keep it that way!  DH has had his two front teeth capped since before I met him.  They look so nice, I always forget that unless it comes up in "teeth talk."  You'll do great!

 

Thanks so much to those who shared with us the many beautiful photos of Seville yesterday.  Now I'm itching to get back to Spain.  DS attended a wedding there of a college friend.  I had no idea what a great experience he must have had.

 

Picking and choosing from the day's offerings today, I'll take the grilled bass.  What a great fish that is. Delicious!

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily and to all contributors.

I'm a fan of the metric system; in baking bread most recipes use weights in metric for ingredients. And formerly working in healthcare, weights, temps and sizes were usually metric. A salute to World Health Day and Beer! I'm a fan of German and Belgian beers. Good quote.

No to fish, for me. I've never had any type of mule drink. I'll pass on the wine.

I've not been to French Polynesia.

 

Another rainy, cool day. Possibly snowflakes on Saturday and Sunday. I'm watching the Masters online, as I don't have the Golf channel. Not a peep from radiology about the hand ultrasound. I hate just hanging around waiting for a call, so I may call again. I see a retina specialist tomorrow at the health center, so I'll get the plain film of my hand done then.

@dfish It sounds like you had the same reaction to your booster that I did. I'm glad you feel better today.

@marshhawk I hope the Gabapentin helps DH. I take it for neuropathy maybe caused by the Humira I took for my eyes; it didn't make me loopy, but higher doses caused me to stumble around and be off balance. Decreasing the dose again stopped that. I hope Fawn will be ok.

@Crazy For Cats I read about your excursion and all that time on the bus and no lunch stop; sounds awful!

@smitty34877 Good that Tana's done with the antibiotics and hopefully the rash goes away quickly.

@kb4683 Thanks for the pictures.

@Cruising-along Never had Tzatziki sauce, so I can't comment. I'm glad the renovations are starting on DS and DDIL's house.

Good morning and thanks all!  We were to visit this port in 2020, le sigh!  Thanks for photos! 

 

 We are bilingual when it comes to Metric,  my mother only spoke Imperial, our kids only metric, we had to translate😂🤷‍♀️   We grew up with Imperial and than switched.    Like @ger_77imperial for height and weight.  Where I am really confused is England seems to be a bit of each? 
 

Have recovered quickly from booster,   Canada has now has approval for second booster for many based on age.

We’ve spent many months in Greece and don’t recall dill in tzatziki in Gyros,  don’t like fries in them either 😜. And definitely no potatoes in any Greek salad I have  ever had.  Unless it’s from some area we’ve never been,  and no lettuce either!

Thank you!  You would know!  I don't care if there are fries on the side but wouldn't want them inside the gyro either!  

 

Even HAL doesn't put dill in the tzatziki. Greek Night on the Eurodam last fall.

Looks like the warmest day of the year in the Pacific NW; should get to 70 degrees here.  When comparing Metric to Imperial measurements, it is more complicated than it seems.  Many of the UK measurements are different than what we have in the US.  For example, the imperial gallon is 1.201 US gallons.  A hundredweight in the US is 100 lbs.  In the UK it is 112 lbs.  A ton in the US is 2000 lbs.  In the UK it is 2240 lbs.  I grew up around horse racing where we used the furlong, an eighth of a mile as distance.  Remember the old song "I love you, a bushel and a peck..." A peck is two gallons; a bushel is 8 gallons.  I assume they are US gallons.  I have made my own beer for a few years.  I am out now, but have about 100 bottles in the storage room waiting to be used.  Think some Irish Stout will be made next.

I don't mind dill as long as there is plenty of garlic.  That is how I judge my Tzatziki dip.  Fage yogurt has a recipe and it does call for dill and mint.

Doing an early afternoon check-in.  No dill in tzatziki, but mint.  I took a Greek cooking class from a lovely older lady who was born and raised on the outskirts of Athens and she said very emphatically that Greek salad only contains tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, olives and feta cheese.  No lettuce.  And certainly, no potatoes!  

 

@Norseh2oHappy 102nd Birthday to your dear mother!  Wishing her continued good health.

 

Off in a few so DH can get his eyes checked, so I'll miss the Nieuw Amsterdam sail-away this afternoon.  Stay safe, everyone!

Good afternoon from sunny and  windy Quartzsite.  Hopefully, it will not be as windy as yesterday since the wind caused several major wrecks on I-10 between here and the Colorado River.  So far, I haven't been able to find any information about injuries.  When we went to Blythe this morning, we saw what was left of the travel trailer that was blown off the road and now is a total loss lying on its side.

 

DH and our DDs are better at using the metric system than I am, as they are more scientifically oriented that I am.  I have learned enough to make some conversions.  World Health Day is important, and it would be nice if the entire world had access to good health care.  I will salute World Beer Day even though I don't drink beer much anymore.

 

The quote is very good.  I like bass, but we don't have any right now, so like several others, dinner will be salmon and asparagus cooked in the air fryer along with Caesar salad and wine.  We'll pass on the drink and the wine.

 

While we have been to many ports in French Polynesia, we have not been to today's port.  Thank you @kb4683 Kay and @aliaschief Bruce for your pictures.  Kay, I noticed that the lady drummer was on her cell phone while drumming.  Talk about multi-tasking, but I wonder how she or the person on the other end could hear the conversation.

 

I am grateful that so many Dailyites were spared damage from the storms yesterday and I hope that trend continues.

 

@seagarsmoker  Thank you for identifying your pictures today.  The pier looks very much like the one in Huatulco, Mexico.

@aliaschief  Bruce, I'm glad your cold like symptoms are subsiding more and more.

@JAM37  Julia, I hope your DH feels better today.

@dfish  Debbie, good news that the Aleve and a good night's sleep took care of the reaction except a sore arm.

@marshhawk  I hope the Gabapentin helps your DH.

@Cruising-along Carolyn, that is great news that the contractors are beginning the renovations of DS and DDIL's new house.  That is sooner than was expected.  I can't offer an opinion on the dill or mint debate since I've only had one gyro which I liked.  I also don't care very much for Greek salads (it's the cucumbers and olives I don't like), but I don't think I'd want potatoes in one.

Lenda, It's hot where you are.  We are having a heat wave here in the west.  Made me wonder...when do you head back to Texas for the summer?

 

As a kid, I used to go camping on the Colorado River with friends.  Pack everything up in the boats, find a cove, camp out and water ski.  It was so much fun!  When you mention getting supplies in Parker, I remember those days.  But it was definitely not a summer activity.  You're probably starting to miss Texas.  ☀️  ☀️   ☀️

Good afternoon everyone!  I'm done with my second dental appointment but still sore and my upper lip is still numb and I've had a bad headache yesterday continuing on into today.  It'll pass, time heals.  Thank you for your thoughts Maxine @AncientWanderer!

 

Carolyn @Cruising-along -- I don't ever remember dill in any tzatziki I've had.  If it was there I didn't taste it.  Once, long ago, in early in our marriage, I made a fish dish with dill and used dried dill instead of fresh and it was horrible.  It took me a longgggg time to use dill again and now I only use fresh dill.

 

I never did learn metric and missed the "push" to use metric, thank goodness because I'm mathematically challenged.  I like a beer once in a while, especially with Mexican food, and usually a Corona. 

 

We eat a lot of fish but not tonight.  I'm thinking of making a quick beef stir fry.  Debbie @dfish, thank you for your research and your recipes.  They look wonderful.  And @0106, thank you for the recipe, it looks yummy, although I probably won't make it so hopefully I'll see it on a restaurant menu. 

 

Tomorrow are our TSA pre-check appointments so I'll be really late tomorrow.  I couldn't get our appointments together so we are about 1 1/2 apart so unless they can take us together it'll be late and then we have to eat lunch.  It's too far to go separately.  I'm eager to get this next step out of the way.

 

The Oosterdam is looking lonely over in the Med since the Zaandam is enroute to Ft Lauderdale.  We will be on the Oosterdam for the 4th time in less than 8 weeks!  Yay!  She's not my favorite ship but we'll be in the Med and on a cruise so who cares?

 

Ann @marshhawk -- thanks for sharing about Fawn.  I'm hoping she has "licked" her injury away and is healing.  Even though I love small puppies I'm very fond of cats.
