some will refuse to do laundry on their holiday

That would be me. FWIW I asked for cold water wash last time and I "think" I got it. Will mark cold water from now on

For us it’s the availability of 14 night itineraries compared with 10-12 nights with Celebrity.More varied entertainment and opportunities to dance Latin/Ballroom.

We’re not bothered about the food but like Sabatini’s for the ambience.

Is your daughter still on X ships?

We love X but also started cruising Princess for the variety of itineraries and the cost comparison when travelling in peak periods. We found we could sail on Princess for 14 nights in the summer on different itineraries compared to 7 on X on the usual European offerings. The entertainment on X did take a real nosedive as they perceived pax wanted to entertain themselves rather than them provide the variety. Princess does give a good mix.

We really enjoyed our Princess cruises pre-Covid, just hoping we feel the same now 🤞.

I'm not a mega mega Princess but I have to say, for me, moreso than any other line- they're a solid all rounder. The food is great, the entertainment is solid, the rooms are well designed, comfy beds, great staff, nicely designed ships, great tech (for the most part), not everything is nickle and dime. I don't think any of the other lines are as wholly consistent!

Hi Villauk, thanks for remembering her.

No, she isn't. Her last contract was opening Celebrity Edge. That really took a lot out of her. The passenger reviews for the new ship were brutal, and the constant pressure from HO management made life on the ship unbearable.

Sorry to hear that, but hopefully she’s made the right move and is now much happier 👍. We’ve not been on any of the Edge class ships as the IV put us off tbh. No doubt we’ll give them a try one day.

Not exactly "free". $3 for wash, $3 for dry, $1.50(?) for soap (if you don't bring your own).

Not sure what ship you're referring to, but on my cruise I paid nothing for use of the machines or the soap.

We have always loved the ambiance on Princess and it just "feels right" to us.  I hope we get that feeling back again, but I am expecting it to not quite be the same in October.  I do wish them success in getting back on their feet.  And they must get that MC App fixed so it removes barriers to newer guests.  We old-timers can put up with it as we know more what awaits us on the other side.

That's it for me - Princess just feels right. We've cruised on Princess three times since the restart, and it still feels right. Not exactly the same, but still right.

I just like to say I like Princess Cruises for all the good reasons all ready mentioned. The big one for me is when my wife got really sick on one of our cruises the medical staff saved her life.
I just like to say to all of them Thank You Again !!!

We’ve cruising across many of the major cruiselines (Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, NCL, HAL, Carnival) with nearly 70 cruises to date, most of them on Princess.  While I used to claim Celebrity has been my favorite, we sure have felt spoiled by Princess since the restart last year.  In the last several months, we’ve cruised on the Ruby several times, the Grand Princess 3 times, the Discovery twice and the Majestic once.  The lower capacity has really had us spoiled ….
I can’t judge any of the other cruiselines since last July but feel like Princess has really stepped up to the plate since then and they may very well have become our absolute favorite!

I think the wonderful crew / staff is where they shine!
There food has been good to excellent!  The entertainment has been fantastic … not just the headliners and production shows but also, the activity staff with all the new and creative events they’ve added to the schedule on the fly.
The beds are the most comfortable on any cruiseline.
The deluxe balcony option on the newer ships is a wonderful option.
I am actually a pretty big fan of the medallion, even though we’ve been on a couple of sailings when it didn’t work for one or the other of us.
I could live without smoking in the casino but don’t really want to make this negative because, overall, our experiences have been stellar!
A huge plus is that Princess cruises out of our home port of San Francisco.  I’m excited that the Royal Princess will be joining us full time starting at the end of the summer.  Don’t get me wrong, we’ve loved the Ruby being here but I do love the Royal class ships.

On the Grand in March there was a tray of tokens in the laundries. Soap, and machine use was free. We had brought dryer sheets.

All the ships charge...UNLESS the token machines are broken and Pax Svcs is in a good mood.

Again, as I said in my post, I cruised the Discovery Princess.  Just got off of it last week.  I did laundry and paid nothing for my use of the machines or soap/dryer sheets.

No evidence of tokens anywhere; if so, I would've mentioned it.  The soaps were sitting out on a shelf free for the taking. I threw my clothes in and pressed Start.  Laundry is pretty straightforward like that.

Sorry I don't have a video for you to believe me.  😜

A mark in the plus column for Princess, though!

We have cruised HAL, Celebrity, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Princess.  HAL remains our favorite but Princess is a very close 2nd.  In fact, our last 4 cruises (and our upcoming cruise) is with Princess.  We are fortunate that we are able to cruise in suites on our cruises and definitely prefer HAL for the suites.  While we have cruised in suites on Princess, we prefer the Club Class Mini-suite.  The actual difference between the Club Class Mini and the full suite on Princess to too miniscule to warrant the increase in price.

We were not a large fan of Norwegian and have only cruised with them once.  On Celebrity we cruised on the Century and loved it size (very similar to the older HAL ships) and overall feel.  While Royal Caribbean was fine, we are NOT fans of the huge amusement park like ships.  We will NEVER cruise on a Carnival ship.

At this point we select our cruise based on where we want to go, itinerary and time of year.  We usually look at HAL first and if all of our boxes are checked, will choose them, however our last 4 (plus upcoming cruise) is with Princess so I guess Princess is becoming our go to.

On our recent Royal Princess cruise the token machines were out of order on many decks. After trying 3 different laundry rooms I went to Passenger Services and reported the issue. They didn't offer me free tokens and also didn't offer to sell me any. They just said they would have someone "fix it soon". My wife finally heard someone say that the token machine on Caribe deck was working so I zoomed down to that one and got tokens. I don't think they ever did "fix" the other token machines. A woman in our nearest laundry room warned not to use one of the washers as it just eats tokens and does nothing else.

Maybe she was disoriented and she was really talking about a slot machine.  I've heard lots of people walk away from those and complain that they had been taken to the cleaners!!  😁

Princess and Holland America are our favorites with HAL a little more sedate with an older crowd but lately we are seeing more younger people. I've sailed all the lines the OP has sailed and after all is said and done they all have their good points and not much bad, we have never had a lousy cruise. I do feel that RCCL rates are higher as someone has to pay for all the extras like ice skating rinks and bumper cars which at our age we aren't interested in.

What I like about Princess is the Military OBC plus the benefits for past cruisers which are very good especially for Elite status.

I know that it is possible as I have heard tales of such, but like you, we have never had a bad cruise. We were on the third-ever cruise on the Disney Magic and the food was uniformly miserable. But all things considered, the cruise still rated as a net positive.
