Unfortunately, there are no Grand Class ships with Window Suites that do TransAtlantic (maybe to Greenland).

Thread is 11 pages long and no a single bid has been accepted.

Title:  How is the bidding system doing?  I would dare to say....Nothing is happening, yet.  Wake me when the first acceptance comes in.

I would not think we will have any reports of bid accepted until a few days before Oct 1.

I happen to be on an Oct 1st cruise so I will be happy to share if my lowball bid is accepted in a couple weeks 🙂

Cheers,

John

PS: Maybe someone's bid will be accepted right away if they offer the max bid amount. I haven't read anyone's post that did this (lol).

Come to think of it, I have a cruise booked and was not sent an email.  Maybe "they" know that I don't want an upgrade (as marked).  But I've heard others say they have received email even if marked no upgrade.   Hmmmmm curious.

Our remaining cruises for 2022  have all been marked do not upgrade and have received emails for 3 of the 4.   Nothing worth bidding on.

Be sure your profile in Princess is set to receive promotional emails. Otherwise you won’t get the upgrade email.

Obviously they do not know who you are🤣

Check your setting to get the ton of junk e-mail and the one bid form.

I’ll tell you, ever since I turned that sucker on to get the bid e-mail I have been flooded with daily BS sale stuff sent to me from Prince (Hate It more than you know). Can’t wait to turn that POS off in two weeks!

Have you (or anyone else who has received a bidding E-mail) compared the minimum bid price to what it would have cost to have booked that higher category in the first place?

I'm very happy with where I am booked.  I don't need more junk from Princess.  Thank you very much.

I did a  comparison before I  bid.

Currently  standard  balcony and we  bid  on clubclass  mini.

Balcony with princess plus $1323 p/p  and  club class mini  with  princess  plus $2113

Made low ball bid of $300 p/p.  At  this  time cruise  still shows  one forward club class available.

Offers  were : CC premium mini $315,   CC forward mini  $290,  Mini  $185

Premium deluxe Balcony  $70  ,  Deluxe balcony  $40

Was that $2113 the price when you booked or when got the email to bid?

I didn't because I booked using a casino offer where they offered me a free inside and I paid to upgrade to a mini suite.  The casino area has told me in the past that they couldn't offer Club Class or Full Suite upgrades so I didn't collect those prices for comparison.  And by only paying the upgrade fee I've already paid much less than what the mini suite would have cost at the time of booking so from that perspective this is a good deal.

Many of the categories are still available for sale so I can compare through the lens of current pricing.  Here's the Standard fares for the available categories (10 day Southern Caribbean):

Mini Suite (MF - Current booking):  $2,479

Premium Suite:  $4,729 (buy-up of $2,250 vs. minimum bid of $955)

Penthouse Suite:  $4,929 (buy-up of $2,450 vs. minimum bid of $980)

Sky Suite:  $10,929 (buy-up of $8,450 vs. minimum bid of $1,480)

Viewed this way the bid prices are a deal, at least the minimums are.  But it's more than we'd want to pay at this point so it's kind of a moot point for us.

Fun fact about Sky Suites.  Every passenger up to #4 pays the fare shown.  So Princess would charge 2X the fare for 2 people in the suite and 4X the fare if 4 book it.  Really seems bizarre not to discount passengers 3 and 4.  Maybe that's why I've been finding these cabins available close to sailing?

Whoops typo on the Sky Suite price - now corrected above.

I received bid today for Enchanted Oct28/22 cruise.

offering Vista suite- which is aft facing & I don’t see one on this ship. Premium suite & PH suite, Sky suite, club class mini suite & minisuite.

Only one I’d be interested in is Club class mini extra $310 CAD pp, but we are fine with the cabin we booked.

I'm on this sailing and didn't receive an offer to bid but am already in a premium suite. I would consider bidding on a higher category suite.

Whitelist or add the following email to your email  contacts - info@princessupgrade.princess.com

Check your spam too. My guess is you will get one. The suites and CC Minis are sold out. At this point someone would need to cancel in order to move up, but you never know!

I received the email offering to allow me to bid for my 10-day partial Panama Canal cruise on November 28 on the Caribbean. I'm booked as a solo in a Cat. IB (inside cabin). I was already upgraded from my guarantee Cat. IF. At the time I booked, moving to an obstructed view was around $150. The minimum bid for me was $50 ($25 x 2 since I'm solo). Other minimum bids were $220 for unobstructed ocean view, $600 for standard balcony, and $850 for premium balcony. (Those are all double the single occupancy minimum bids.) I was not offered the opportunity to bid on a mini suite or suite even though they're showing up as still available.

The slide bidding tool was interesting. For instance, it would allow me to bid from $110 to $520 (x 2) for an ocean view. If I wanted to spend an extra $1,040, I would have booked a premium balcony cabin to start with.

I ended up placing the minimum bid for an obstructed view. I'm willing to pay $50 if Princess accepts my bid to get a window, mainly because I have liked sailing in Emerald Deck cabins before. The four Cat. OZ cabins on the Lido Deck are not currently available. But I guess there's always the possibility of someone canceling their cruise or being upgraded from one of them and my getting assigned to one of them. If so, I'll still have a great cruise.

We got our upgrade bid offer today for our 15 day cruise on the Ruby.  We already got a great deal when we booked our obstructed oceanview cabin.

Heres the Upgrade bid offers:

Oceanview $105 pp

Balcony $470 pp

Premium balcony $545

We’re debating placing a bid on the regular balcony.  Still a great deal when added to what we paid for our oceanview

Since the cost of Princess insurance is based upon the cabin price, if a bid is accepted, does the price of your Princess insurance go up?  What about the tax portion of the cost?

Is the sq feet of living space (not including the balcony) the same as an obstructed ocean view cabin?

has anyone going on a transatlantic in NOvember received an invitation to bid?

Nothing received here at my end for the Rome to Fort Lauderdale crossing. I get all manner of junk (sorry, promotional) mail from Princess, so any bid mails should not be suppressed

Same here.  We board the Regal on Oct 26th for 3 b2b's, the last segment being a TA.  Nada!

turns out, I wasn't getting the bid emails because in both my profile on Princess.com and in the personalizer I had email communications turned off. I turned them on yesterday, after somebody advised me to do so, and bam - I got the invite to bid right away. Many people on our roll call have been getting them for quite some time now, since our final payment was back in August.

We are in an inside on Thanksgiving cruise, and our bids started at $150 for a standard obstructed balcony. Funny, because this category is sold out... I bid anyway. Can't hurt, can it?

At this stage, it makes no difference if the category is sold out or not because much could change right up to your sailing. That’s why they allow all the bids on all the categories: someone could cancel at the last minute and your bid may be accepted.

My upgrade offer was for the Enchanted too and I was confused by the verbiage for Vista suites.  I do think the description was developed for the Grand class ships which typically have aft facing Vistas.  On the Enchanted the Vista suites are forward on the Sun deck and there are 6 of them (light blue in this screenshot):
