Guest ldtr Posted September 12, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2022 I expect that this means that there will be a charge for classes. Unfortunately it might also mean that previously free classes such as Zumba, might now become additional charge classes.

dreaminofcruisin Posted September 12, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2022 It seems like a strange thing to focus on for a cruiseline that has an older average age. I 'get' they are trying to attract younger people and I am sure there are many older people who would use these services, but it certainly feels like there are other easier and perhaps cheaper things they could do. Playing more music that was written after I was born, for instance (and I am in my 60s).
Astro Flyer Posted September 12, 2022 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) Based on their press release this is JP’s way of increasing paid exercise options. And to sell the Xpotential Fitness’ XPLUS subscriptions for in cabin & at home usage and to sell customized equipment packages for home and their merchandise in onboard retail stores. tonit964 Posted September 12, 2022 #11 Share Posted September 12, 2022 Hopefully they won't start charging to use the jogging track or walk around promenade deck. That's how I get my exercise on the cruise. 3
Guest ldtr Posted September 12, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 12, 2022 One question that come to mind is will Princess will reduce the number of slot on the Entertainment and Activity staff and use those slots for employees of the new partner, like Celebrity did a few years ago when they brought on board a new spa company and some of the activities previously done by the CD staff became pay for activities by Spa employees. skynight Posted September 13, 2022 #18 Share Posted September 13, 2022 I can't believe that this announcement is a positive marketing tool. Do passengers really care who is operating the fitness center? Better marketing announcement would be to just say what the fitness experience will be like in the future. What is no charge and what is offered at an extra cost.

Guest ldtr Posted September 13, 2022 #20 Share Posted September 13, 2022 It is to convince travel agents of how great it is, as their customers get to pay for some things that used to be free. Will be interesting to see how this new program goes. We are booked for a cruise in April of 2023 (wow.. a loooooooooong time off) with our "middle kid", his wife, and our second youngest granddaughter. They are all lean, health, and fit. (A far cry from his parents I can guarantee....) It will be their first ever cruise and I am pretty sure they will be quite pleased with the gym. My daughter in law is really excited about the cruise and has watched the ship video and other things I've sent for them to check out. I'm betting they will make use of the facilities. (They have a work out room at home. <boggle> I'm more of a "Oh, crap. It really hurts trying to get up out of this dang chair" person.)
