relmondcrsise Posted October 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2022 Is anyone else cruising over Thanksgiving this year or cruised over past Thanksgivings? This will be my first year onboard and I'm wondering what to expect. It will be a bit strange not doing our usual family gathering, but it will be nice not having to worry about anything and just relax and enjoy the day. Are there any special activities that take place? I did see this special Thanksgiving dinner menu posted and it looks delicious. I'm happy I can still get a traditional meal onboard. I appreciate any insights you can share from your experience.

Rare Cruise Raider Posted October 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2022 We cruised last year on Thanksgiving and will be doing so again this year as well. Since Thanksgiving is an American Holiday, I didn't see much at all about it being a holiday, although they did have the most delicious turkey dinner in the MDR.
voljeep Posted October 20, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2022 We are also sailing over Thanksgiving - and expect Thanksgiving to be formal night since that is the first day at sea.

Rare startedwithamouse Posted October 20, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2022 We've sailed four times over Thanksgiving. With the exception of last year, always turkey carving (silly) demonstration, Thanksgiving displays from the pastry department in the piazza. Thanksgiving menu in the MDR. Rare startedwithamouse Posted October 20, 2022 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2022 Last year's addition of the Santa Maria Roasted Tri-Tip with refried beans, pico de gallo, cotija cheese, roasted chayote and flour tortillas is gone. Tri-tip was cooked to perfection.

polmcs Posted October 20, 2022 #12 Share Posted October 20, 2022 I’ve done Thanksgiving on Princess a number of times. Yes, expect turkey on the menu that night (even on my Tahitian cruise) but as the Thursday was a formal night on most of my cruises, it was also surf and turf night, so I went that route instead! 😉

Cruzinnana47 Posted October 20, 2022 #14 Share Posted October 20, 2022 (edited) Thanks, AstroFlyer. for posting the menu from the Princess press release. Hadn't seen it yet. We'll be sailing on the Enchanted Princess on Thanksgiving--our 1st time being on a cruise during the holidays. Food choices look pretty darn good! Even better when we don't have to cook.😉 Edited October 20, 2022 by Cruzinnana47

And my DH will love Gnocchi. I think they were pumpkin flavored back in 2019. We always sail during Thanksgiving. 🙂 I do it to escape hostess duties. Yes, there will be lots of kids. Including mine. But he is very well behaved. I found my menu post from our Thanksgiving Cruise in 2019: looks more limited this year (Thanksgiving Dinner, that is) Edited October 20, 2022 by Itchy&Scratchy

DCThunder Posted October 20, 2022 #20 Share Posted October 20, 2022 Downsides to Thanksgiving at a restaurant is you can't get seconds on everything and I prefer dark meat to white meat. And do we get turkey sandwiches later that night while watching football?🏈 2
