I arrived after DH left for PT.  I missed his text that it would be at 11 instead of 9 this morning.  I probably wouldn't have made it here much earlier.  I need to find out the weekday schedule.

Good morning . It is only 43 but the sun is shining with cloudless skies.I never liked candy corn,have not been to the port and dislike tilapia. I do like the quote.

Thank you everyone  for your support and encouragement. Lou and I have worked our way through the doom and gloom phase and are now just working on looking on the bright side.I will just be glad when it is behind us.

@Quartzsite Cruiser,  Lenda as a retired PT I can tell you that  progress is often mighty slow and often involves two steps forward,  one back. I hope Steve as individual  sessions daily as well as group sessions. I often found the patients would  be very much supporting each other. Only someone in that situation  themselves can truly understand.

@Cruzin Terri, I am so sorry  this has  occurred  with your insurance  company and hope there is a resolution  soon.

Terry, so far it looks like DH has a one on one session in the am and a group session in the pm.  I know it will take time.

Off to church in a few minutes, but Roy, I wanted to let you know that my  cousin Vicki died yesterday afternoon, so you can take her off the cares list.  The family here will get together here one day soon to celebrate her life.

Ann, our condolences to you, Pat and they rest of Vicki's family.  I'm glad you got to visit her last spring.

Just so you all understand.  GEICO farms out their home insurance.  They do not sell it directly.  Our home insurance is through Homesite.  We get a break by having our Auto, Home and Umbrella under GEICO.  We have never had to file a claim until now.

I may contact GEICO and express my displeasure at the treatment I have been receiving from the company they use for Home Insurance if things don’t change this week.

’Terri

I think that is a good start. I probably would have done it several weeks ago. I like to see action.

Happy Reformation Day, Dailyites! This is always a big celebration at our church and normally I would have been at church for most of the day. As luck would have it, I picked up some sort of upper respiratory infection towards the end of the Nieuw Statendam cruise (not covid!!), and the doctor has me on some heavy duty meds. Not fit to go out into society yet, but at least I was able to livestream the service this morning. I volunteered to help next Saturday with the church's Craft Fair, so I need to be healthy by then -- all the other volunteer gigs are cancelled for this week.

Not a fan of candy corn or tilapia, and never went out on Mischief Night -- not a big thing in this part of Maryland. I bought a pumpkin that I need to get carved before tomorrow night and got to the store (masked) to get the necessary candy. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so don't know how many trick-or-treaters we'll get.

Prayers raised for all who need them, and congratulations to all who are celebrating!

I'm very sorry to hear about your cousin Vicki passing.  The celebration of life sounds like a good way to honor her.

Sorry about your respiratory infection and hope the meds help you to recover before the Craft Fair next weekend.  Lucky you not catching Covid on the cruise though! 😃  I've been hearing the best way to carve a pumpkin is to cut the bottom open instead of the top where the stem is.  We always did it wrong I guess.  They last longer, give you more space to carve a face, and are easier to put a candle or light in it.  Who knew?

We went to visit our future cat.  After we were in a play room with her for a while someone from the staff came in and asked what we thought of her and were we interested in adopting her.  We said we were very interested.  They said that once an adoption is under way and the meet and greet has occurred, then they put the cat on to the schedule for a spay/neuter surgery.  I went to the front desk while they looked on the schedule.  She will have the surgery next Monday and I will be able to pick her up on Tuesday. She will be spayed, have her rabies shot and  be micro chipped, all for $99 plus tax. Now I need to go buy some scratch pads and possibly a cat tree of some sort.

There were a lot of other animals having visits today. Hopefully they all get adopted.

So happy you are getting a new friend.  You're getting a good deal for $99.  I hope more people adopt a new friend too.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I'm not a fan of candy corn, don't like mischief night (one time home from college my car got egged and they tried to sugar the gas tank but it had a hard to remove gas cap) and I do like checklists to keep me on track! Good George R. R. quote.

I'll pass on the meal (fish) and drink. Yes to the wine, although a bit above my price range.

I have been to Puerto Quertzal on my Panama Canal cruise.

It's nice today at 65 and partly sunny; rain tomorrow and Tuesday. I'm still doing things around the house, and started laying out some clothes in a spare bedroom for my November trip.

@Sharon in AZ Sorry to hear you're still waiting to find out about the medication. And that you have to be referred and approved for the Rheumatologist. I waited a little longer to see mine, but that's because I wanted to see the chairperson of the department for my initial evaluation. I now mainly see her PA.

@grapau27 Thank you for Fr. David's sermon today.

@4966and556 Sounds like a good meeting your new cat. Congrats!

@Cruzin Terri I hope you hear from the insurance company soon and don't have to threaten legal action to get them to do something! Good idea to contact GEICO directly.

@AncientWanderer Congrats to DH on his golfing wins!

@ger_77 Safe travels tomorrow.

@StLouisCruisers You mentioned DGS perhaps attending the same college as DS; here Pitt gives tuition discounts for family members of staff (or at least they used to). Thanks for the photos.

@0106 Nice pictures.

@Quartzsite Cruiser I had to laugh at the a/c temp of 75 being cold! Must be an AZ thing. Great photos.

@smitty34877 Continued prayers for the family.

@Overhead Fred Thanks for the photos.

@Vict0riann My condolences to you and the family on the passing of Vicki.

@aliaschief Safe travels tomorrow.

@ottahand7 Good to hear DB doesn't have MRSA.

@NextOne Feel better soon!

@kazu I'm enjoying hearing about your time in Barcelona.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

We’ve been to today’s port. Took the long bus ride to Antigua to see the volcano from the McDonald’s. Then spent time in the jade museum. I can’t seem to find the photos. Scary bus ride through the winding streets. We were late back to the ship but they waited since we were a ship tour.

@Sharon in AZ, I keep thinking about you and Terry and Vanessa, and others with inflammatory conditions.  My mom had very early onset RA and it was tough.  I hesitate to sound like the California crackpot, but DH and I really notice a difference in our joints when we avoid nightshades -- tomatoes, peppers, eggplant.  My mom would never experiment with an anti-inflammatory diet, but I wish she would have given it a try.

Anyhow, I'm definitely not minimizing the need for "big gun" medications.  My poor mom really had a time of it.  I think of that often with @smitty34877taking care of Tana, all the while having RA.

USCGC Bertholf (WMSL-750) the first of USCG's Legend-class maritime security cutters, home-ported in Alameda, CA. Prob. that far south on an anti-narcotic mission. She frequently is away from home i.e. in March 2016, she sank a semi-submersible narco-submarine off the coast of Panama, and three years later she transited the contested Taiwan Strait

Not much going on.  I left just before DH had his afternoon PT session.  I tried one of the GPS recommended routes home, and it was faster, at least today it was.  I might give it a try going in Wednesday.  Tomorrow I'm going early to vote and once it warms up, I'll do some outside work.  Tuesday, will be the dreaded house cleaning.

@aliaschief  Bruce, I hope you and Sue have a smooth and restful flight home.  Thank you for taking us along on your journey.

@NextOne  I'm sorry you picked up a bug on your cruise, and I hope the medicine takes care of it quickly.

@JazzyV  Vanessa, not only is the a/c issue an Arizona thing, it is also a Texas thing.  With our warmer weather, we are more "thin" blooded than those living in northern climates.

@AncientWanderer  Please congratulate your DH on his great golf year.

@4966and556  I know you are excited to get your new fur baby home soon.

@ger_77  Gerry, safe travels, on time flights and luggage on board tomorrow.

@ottahand7  Wishing your BD a speedy recovery and a short rehab.

Lenda

I wish that were the case.  I know many colleges do the same thing Pitt does but some do not and Michigan is one of them.  Luckily, DS has been contributing to a college fund he set up for the boys years ago.  And there will probably be some merit scholarship money coming.  They're good to go!

Mischief Night is also known in some places in the U.S., but in Detroit it took a much nastier form. From Wikipedia:

Devil's Night made its way to Detroit in the 1930s and 1940s. Traditionally, city youths engaged in a night of mischievous or petty criminal behavior, usually consisting of minor pranks or acts of mild vandalism (such as egging, soaping or waxing windows and doors, leaving rotten vegetables or flaming bags of canine feces on stoops, or toilet papering trees and shrubs) which caused little or no property damage.

However, in the early 1970s, the vandalism escalated to more destructive acts such as arson. This primarily took place in the inner city, but surrounding suburbs were often affected as well.

The crimes became more destructive in Detroit's inner-city neighborhoods, and included hundreds of acts of arson and vandalism every year. The destruction was worst in the mid- to late-1980s, with more than 800 fires set in 1984, and a number in the hundreds for each subsequent year until 2011.

In 1995, the city and as many as 50,000 (!) volunteers collaborated to stop it, with conspicuous all-night patrols, and the practice was gradually suppressed.

I'm not a fan of tilapia either. It seems to be more popular with people who don't like fish in general, than with those who do.
