Where can we check in onboard for flight home. Do we need Wi-Fi?

Presuming you have a mobile phone you can use WiFi if you have a port call the day before your cruise ends and go to the ilounge and ask for help.  They helped people print boarding passes at no charge.

Wouldn't hurt to ask guest services.

Guest services will help you out. They may send email to ilounge and give you enough minutes to log on and check in to your flight.  No harm in asking

OP said they have a sea day not a port day

Thanks everyone, we’re on the Equinox, I’ll check with Guest Services, the Concierge and in the iLounge, hopefully we’ll figure out something. Your help is much appreciated.

I've often seen 1-2 hour of Wi-Fi specials offered by the lines on the day before disembarkation. Ask if something like that would be available. Otherwise you'll have to check in at the airport or as soon as you hit port that morning.

When you arrive in port you can use data from your cell phone carrier or just check in at the airport.  Just because you can checkin 24 hrs before your flight doesn’t mean you have to.  We regularly check in at the airport.

Unless you're one of those people who insist that Southwest is the best thing ever (I'm most definitely NOT one of them.). Unless you want to be in the final boarding group you HAVE to check in at the 24 hour mark - or pay extra for "Early Bird Check In".

Hi, we’re on United, not Southwest so we can wait until we’re in port if necessary. Haven’t made any new friends yet, lol, maybe we will once onboard. Our flight is at 11:10 so we’re cutting it a bit close but I think we’ll be okay.

Many thanks again for your help and suggestions.

You're flying from FLL to EWR? Do you have the United app on your phone?

Odds are you can check in as soon as you get cellular reception at 4-5 a.m. I don't fly as much these days, but I've flown a lot. There is no way on earth I would not have connectivity with the airline with the frequency of changes. 11:10 in FLL shouldn't be a problem, but they change flights. They reconfigure aircraft. All sorts of things you could react to if the airline can contact you (United normally will text, email, and have alerts on the app). I'm really sorry, but I'd at least buy 24 hours of WiFi for my smartphone. There was a time when I'd consider reservations and seat assignments stable, but I've had United (my preferred carrier, and I'm 1K) change aircraft on long haul international routes and in one case actually delete the premium economy cabin I'd paid for. That's an outrageous example, but...

If I had to I would also buy 24 hours of wifi for the last day. Its worth peace of mind for $20.  I remember a couple years ago I had used up my Elite minutes and the ilounge gave me enough wifi to check in to my flight and choose my seats.

Doing Online check-in doesn't really give me any peace of mind, especially if I have baggage to check in anyway. It doesn't make any difference. I'd rather invest the money into advance seat reservations or an upgrade unless that was already included in the original booking.

Which doesn't help if they change the seat configuration and you could have grabbed an aisle instead of the middle they stuck you in...

Additionally, haven't needed to print a boarding pass in a very long time.  Just save it to the phone.

If a CC member, go to the CC desk and ask.

For a wild moment, I thought CC stood for Cruise Critic and I wondered about waving that card around to solve whatever problems I had.

Then I saw the next post...

You can try to ask the Concierge.  They are there for everyone not just Concierge Class cabins.

And never mind. I'm just silly. 🤪

With planes flying full these days I like to choose my seat 24 hours in advance. If I wait till I get to the airport it will be a middle seat.  I don't ever pay for advance seat selection.
