@PandaBear62, Yes, your mini bar should be restocked for the second ‘segment’. Go to your cruise history and I am certain it will show you earning 2 cruise credits if you are booked in anything less than a full suite.

I believe if you are thinking of cancelling Plus package, it is considered part of the cruise fare, so I think you might have to cancel and rebook under the current ‘standard’ fare? Please call your TA or Princess ASAP for assistance with this issue. It is easy to think it is just an add-on amenity, easily added and subtracted with no relation to your cruisefare, but pretty sure you are actually booking a particular bundle, that once purchased, you cannot just cancel the ‘Plus’ amenity.

When is next fall? This coming fall of 2024 or 2025? Asking because if you are past  final payment, you will be subject to cancellation fees.

Yes, Elites receive 10% discount for shore excursions. If while booking the discount is not applied, you will receive as OBC on board.

Oh dear, I didn't realize that about plus. Luckily, the cruise hasn't gone up and we are still under a "guaranteed room" rather than a specific cabin. Actually, it's gone down $15, lol.

I looked and the cruise is shown as one, not 2 cruises that are back to back.

Yes, it's for 2025, so we are okay and our deposit is refundable. Essentially, after removing the gratuities, the two "casual dining benefits" , corkage fee for 8 bottles of wine brought on board, 4 stateroom canned soda packages, 4 stateroom water bottle packages  and expense for internet (half price), we still have a discrepancy of just over $1500 (between the package cost and DIY).  Even if we buy a coffee drink or beer a couple times a week over 4 weeks, we'd still be a significant dollar amount ahead.

@PandaBear62, I do not think you looked where I suggested to see about the cruise credits? You need to login to your Princess account, click on my account, click on cruise history. There you will probably see your ‘future sailing’ and it will show 2 credits, even though you booked this as ONE cruise. Almost all cruises that can be sold as separate smaller ‘segments’ or ONE long cruise, passengers will be credited for each cruise segment.

If you are pretty sure dropping Plus is what you want, pretty sure you need to cancel and rebook cruise under ‘standard’ fare. Please call Princess or your TA to verify.

You're right it is two cruise credits. I did find it, I had never seen that page before! Had no idea it was there.

Currently we have a guaranteed balcony BC category, which I believe can be either mid forward or mid aft on decks Marina, Lido and Sun. Right now I can only book a cabin in forward or aft.

I'll have to decide what to do. I'm sure we'll use the credits for casual dining, but that still leaves about $30 per person for beverages. It gives me some things to consider. I appreciate all your information!

This is what I have been wondering. So, if I book and pay now for excursions, I will get 10% back to my account when I board as refundable OBC? Given we will be spending about 2k on excursions, that $200 back will be nice!

You will only get the 10% OBC credited to your account after you have actually taken the excursion.

It doesn't matter when it posts as long as it posts before the cruise is over. It will still be applied to any purchases made on the account, including purchases made before the OBC posts.

When we book in advance the charge for the excursion, the credit from the payment and the 10% obc is shown in the account. So.it does not show up after the excursion is actually taken.

If you cancel the excursion the cost and the 10% obc vanishes from the account, leaving only the original payment credit.

Discussed Elite benefits:

> mini bar

> 10% off excursions, photos, some store items

> laundry

> PE Lounge

> priority disembarkation lounge

Priority Water Shuttle: when I was in Maui last June I was off & while others were still trying to get to a water shuttle. Just walked into Deck 5 midship restaurant, had status checked, asked if my party was complete, and taken down a separate elevator to almost the front of the line with other elites. Cut wait time from hours to 10 minutes.

Cannot find an answer to my query via the search option, so please forgive the slight diversion of the thread, but does anyone know if the elite (or other level) status expires after a period of absence from Princess?

I seem to recall one had to cruise with Pincess at least every 3 years to maintain status but can’t find this written.

No, status does NOT expire with Princess. MSC requires you to sail at least once every 3 or 4 years, if you do not, you revert back to being a newbie. I thought Disney also something regarding sailing at least every 5 years?

Was on the Ruby and Grand this past Mar - May.  I ordered whatever ever comes with the  Oreo cookie (that's what I really wanted).  Only asked for vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and the Oreo.  No Oreos at that time so had a Snickers Bar  instead of the Oreo.

A Snickers bar instead of an Oreo is always an upgrade in my book. 😁

Once Elite, elite forever.

At least thats how I've always understood it.

(Now theres casino levels which come into play on other cruise lines,

which can affect your offers... Princess is just getting into the act with that.

Your current casino level, if you have one, expires end of Feb.)

But as far as Elite?  You're good, and doesn't expire.

You never know what Princess will take away from the Elite, don’t give an idea.

Good point.  Strip away the benefits and then offer them back.  Free internet?  Cruise 15 more times.  😝

So true, makes it much easier to arrange private excursions.

I'm a Newbie Elite and I have a couple of questions.

When you call to exchange items in the mini-bar, do you need to be there when they come? It sounds like sometimes this takes a while, so how do you know when they will be coming?

Regarding Laundry. We might try it out on our next cruise with some of DH's things. Do you just leave it on the bed for your steward to take, or what's the process?

Thanks!

You do not need to be in the cabin for the minibar to be exchanged. You will find a paper bag to put your dirty laundry in. This is usually in the closet. There is a form to fill out that indicates how many items you have - x briefs, x shirts, etc. You fill out the form with your name and cabin #. I always write "elite benefit" on ours.

@dreaminofcruisina hint for submitting laundry. On the laundry form, you will notice 2 columns. IIRC, the left side has the heading Laundry and the right side says Cleaning. As Princess no longer offers ‘dry cleaning’ service like many land based operations because of environmental/chemical restrictions, the right side is the ship’s equivalent. So if it matters to you, separate and fill one form/bag for laundry and the other bag for professional  ‘cleaning’.

I also take a screenshot of the laundry laid out on my bed before stuffing into the bags, in case a piece goes missing so it will be easier to identify and you can show steward picture of missing item. Once laundry is returned , I delete picture if everything comes back as expected.

I leave the bags for pick up on my bed.

Most ships for accounting purposes will show the laundry amount charged to your folio and then usually credited back that evening or the next.

I boarded the Island last Friday and the 10% refund for my excursion was in my folio when I boarded. The actual excursion was several days later.

In addition to taking a photo of the items being sent out, we also take a photo of the laundry slip.

We also have our excursions and the 10% refund  post to our folio the same as yours did.  Been posting this way since Princess started the 10% refund.
