Next up probably a cocktail then sail away and then Anniversary celebration at the Chef’s Table.

See you soon. Thanks again everyone for following along.

Thanks for clarification. I love the Navigator and her sister ship the Mariner. I sail her every year since it's a local drive for me. My favorite cabin is deck 6 middle of the hump. I'll be on the Navigator in two weeks so keep her running smoothly for me! I'll be watching you!

I’ll try and save you some bourbon.😉

Did you find the Key worth the price?

We do. A lot of people don’t think it’s worth it. But for us if the price is right and we are going to get the internet package it can make sense. I love the priority boarding aspect and the wonderful Key lunch. We were having lunch at the same time watching people coming aboard. Also at debarkation we will get a special breakfast menu and be able to leave at our leisure instead of waiting in line to exit the ship. Everyone is different but if the price is right we always get it.

The Chef’s Table

IMG_0306.thumb.jpeg.287c20887568bc1adad3667603abcbba.jpeg

I love the Chef’s Table. Yeah, yeah I know the menu hasn’t changed in years but everything that’s on the menu is great and includes things I don’t get to eat all the time.

IMG_0332.thumb.jpeg.1b248fa93a1db9bb5539c736761bfdc3.jpeg

Arnel our guide and sommelier was funny, knowledgeable and a great host. If you have never experienced the Chef’s Table I highly recommend it, but be warned it’s a lot of food. A lot of wine and takes up to 3-4 hours. Ours lasted 3 and half hours but that was mainly because we all were having a great time. Interesting that everyone at the table was celebrating an anniversary so we all toasted to one another.

IMG_0326.thumb.jpeg.ae05d3b25343047b5ee6a205725a0c56.jpeg

Even Arnel said it was the first time where everyone at the table was celebrating an anniversary. So let’s get to the food.

IMG_0319.thumb.jpeg.47e99a567a1f4af79ec87d9c898b04e9.jpeg

First Course:

Scallop Carpaccio paired with a Attems Pinot Grigio

IMG_0321.thumb.jpeg.99d35349a952155b5e2211185b56f89e.jpeg

Second Course:

Smoked Tomato Soup. Which is my all time favorite of soup paired with a Conondrum Chardonnay/ Sauvignon Blanc

IMG_0323.thumb.jpeg.073e82696d3bfb2bd0f43cb78a84df3e.jpeg

Third Course:

Maine Lobster Salad paired with a Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc

IMG_0325.thumb.jpeg.706bdb803614f87e9d0e9cda4b7861ca.jpeg

Fourth Course:

Roasted Branzino, my all time favorite fish paired with La Crema Chardonnay.

IMG_0329.thumb.jpeg.ecef9bd7bc88b86adb7f53c7476660f6.jpeg

Fifth Course:

Grilled Filet Mignon paired with Sequoia Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc

IMG_0330.thumb.jpeg.1c3cc4a6fb5f5e7c8f026942a6a1fb75.jpeg

Sixth Course:

The World. IMHO I he best chocolate dessert in the world. Served with a salted caramel espresso martini.

what an incredible experience and anniversary celebration. Here is no way you could do a 6 course tasting menu for that price you pay. It would be 3 times that in any other restaurant.

Thanks again to Arnel, Chef and our fun table mates. Needless to say I need to go to bed now.

What a fantastic looking meal.  We've still never done a chef's table on Royal, but I know that I'd enjoy every single item on that menu.  I'm happy that it went so well for you and Linda.

I think you would love it Bob. It would be even better if done with a bourbon tasting. 😉

Met some Bills Mafia last night. Great people. There is a healthy respect for each others teams. That’s the way it should be no trash talking. They love their teams as much as we do ours. Hoping I can watch the game tomorrow in Playmakers. The Pkaymakers on board Navigator is nice that it’s in the Promenade but it is kinda small. I imagine it’s going to be jam packed for games tomorrow on a sea day.

Wasn’t bad. Mine are better but then again I use all top shelf. I haven’t done a bourbon inventory yet. Stay tuned. I did see they have Templeton Rye which is one of my favorites.

They won’t have it on the ship but I love Sagamore Spirit Ryes.

Wow, What are the chances EVERYONE at chefs table was celebrating their anniversary!!  Toast to you both and that.

Meal looks fantastic, but definitely more food than I could possibly eat but my wife would love it . Surprised that the filet mignon was served with a white wine.

I'm guessing that the Blanc in Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc was a typo.  The wine was probably a Cabernet Sauvignon.

Good Morning Ensenada!

IMG_0338.thumb.jpeg.ae4f857b8534dd9c32630ed50c9391c8.jpeg

We did breakfast in the Windjamner as we have a 8:30am meeting for our excursion and the MDR did not open till 7:30am.

IMG_0341.thumb.jpeg.a9f287be1fb937e600688bd4ec2b9bc7.jpeg

I do not like the Windjamner. The morning Chaos and calamity of people scurrying about to get food is crazy. Not to mention the screaming and running kids through the narrow walkways.

IMG_0342.thumb.jpeg.70288ff3c46502f2ddbc90065b56cc22.jpeg

IMG_0343.thumb.jpeg.eb93771fd81cc5b75e4721ed437563ec.jpeg

The food was actually pretty good but I like the pace and the more quiet and formal setting in the Main Dinning Room. Call me a snob.

IMG_0340.thumb.jpeg.9f08e7244054630774de355e834fbb06.jpeg

Eggs Benedict was good.

At least we did try the WJ. Not sure we will be back.

Cankle Report!

Many of us here on Cruise Critic have known each other for years.

Many of us congregate over at our beloved “How are things where you are?” thread started by our very dear and loved friend @dani negreanu.  We talk about everyday life and cruising. One of the topics we occasionally talk about is the dreaded cruise cankles. You know where all the rich food and drink filled with salt with an ocean filled environment cause your feet and ankles to swell. Mine swell up so bad that my feet look like the feet of Fred Flintstone. Our good friend @George C got relief when his doctor prescribed two pills.

Potassium CL Er 10mg

Furosemide 40mg

Basically water pills.

IMG_0334.thumb.jpeg.072fdb4b44379be21512721e0d4ec672.jpeg

So if you don’t mind (and in the spirit of @Ocean Boy ) I am going to document my progress with some not so flattering pics of my feet during this cruise to see how well I do on these pills. Thanks to @Lionesss for the idea to keep track.

So far day two not bad.

Loved the report on the chef's table and the pictures. Would it be worthwhile so someone who doesn't drink ?  Along with those water pills try to elevate your feet above your heart to help with the edema. Prop a pillow under them and if you are comfortable with it do that at bedtime to keep them slightly elevated.

Yes they will make arrangements for non alcoholic beverages.

Yes I slept last night with my legs elevated. It does help.
