I am very sorry to report that my DH Lou died this morning. We never thought this would happen so quickly..I am glad  we had him here and that he was able to say goodbye to loved ones before he became unresponsive.
We plan a nice dinner for friends and family in about a month as he really did not want a traditional wake or funeral service.

Thank you again for all the prayers and good wishes.

    Deepest condolences.

Normally, we don't watch college basketball, even the March Madness.  However, I just watched the Xavier v Texas game.  It was a good game, especially since Texas led all the way.  They are now part of the Elite Eight, and they will play Miami next.

Even though I failed the parallel parking part of the test, I got where I could parallel park fairly decently.  Now days, I don't see many places where there is parallel parking.  Thank goodness.

Over the years, I've driven three of our motohomes, but I was really only comfortable driving our 25 foot class A.  I wouldn’t even think about driving our 40 foot diesel pusher.  Fortunately, DH loved to drive it.  In recent years with the increased traffic and the roads getting so crowded, it has taken some of the fun of driving away.

I'm sorry you may have to have radiation to get rid of the last remaining bit of skin cancer.  It seems our medical issues aren't always straightforward either, and we don't do things the easy way.  We weren't sure what to think last summer when the nurse practioner at two appointments thanked DH for being her most interesting patient of the day.

    Lenda

Ha - sounds familiar.  I was actually included in case studies and medical journals when both of my lungs collapsed within a few days of each other my sophomore year of college.  I got to spend a fun-filled month at the old Brackenridge hospital in Austin.  That, plus one other strange issue and my current case pretty much fills up my medical file 🤷‍♂️.  And Hook ‘em on the big win tonight! 🤘🐂🤘

@Kurtybee123 Thank you for the information, and I am very happy you got good (and happy) results.

Thanks Annie!  Luckily, I have very few medical issues, but when I do, I always manage to stump my Dr’s.  This has been a very long process to get to this point (first surgery was last August for what we thought was a herniated muscle in my lower back).  2 more surgeries (all out patient) later and turns out I have a squamous cell skin cancer that never surfaced and is/was in the muscle.  PET yesterday showed a miniscule amount left that they probably couldn’t locate with surgery, so probably a few rounds of radiation in my future to be safe.  If I’ve learned anything, you have to be diligent if you just know something is not feeling right.  Hopefully your results will be good as well, but rest easy that the actual scan is nothing to worry about.  Focus on your healing and recovery instead!

@Kurtybee123Thank you for the information.  Did you have the test done with the isotopic  (?) shot?  I dont do well with needles, And I'm hoping I don't get sick from the shot.

Annie - I started in a prep room with an IV while lying flat and they put the radioactive glucose in the IV.  Once that was complete, they pulled the IV and I had to remain flat for about an hour while it worked it’s way through my body.  It has no sensation like the contrast dye for an MRI.  They actually turned the lights off in the room and I grabbed a quick nap.  Then we went to the scan room and I was done 30 minutes later.

    Wow @bennybear!

Now I noticed something in your first picture. If you look to the left, it appears to be a fist about to slam down on the earth, and if you look in the middle, I see a face with thick wavy hair...and he looks miffed.  Do you suppose this might be the hand of God, saying to earth, I'll slap you silly if you don't behave?  Kind of like He is flying over us...maybe my imagination is too vivid....or I really want something like that to happen....

The best laid plans of mice and men were not fulfilled today, as the weather is perfect, and DH decided it was a good day to tear apart the entire dash on my 2001 jeep because it hasn't started in over 2 months. After he had his fall, and lost his vision in one eye, I have been driving the newer jeep,  (His)  Newer cars are more smooshy when you run into something, and after he took my red jeep off on a "short" journey he managed to tear off the passenger side window, dent the front right side door, back up and dent the rear door.....so I just traded with him, when he was not in the correct state of mind to know better. So no piano concerto, no walk in the woods, and I basically have the afternoon alone.  Still nice, not working...

@mamaofamiSorry you had to wait so long for your surgery yesterday.  Imagine the poor sot, who was scheduled two people after you.  And the poor doc. What a long day he must have had.

@Cruzin TerriI hate taking my metformin, but what does Prednisone do to you long term?  If it's the option to relieve pain, and the only one, what are the long term effects that you don't want?  I'm just curious, I know what my pills are supposed to do, but I really dont help them with a terrible diet.

I scheduled my PET scan for April 6 early morning.  I told the young lady that was doing the scheduling that since I cant eat or drink for 6 hours before, I might as well get it done early, Making me starve is not a good thing.  We got done with the scheduling, and she told me what to expect, and asked if I had any questions.  Well yes, I said, you didn't ask me if I was claustrophobic.  She asked -do you have a fear of being claustrophobic?  To which I replied, there is no fear involved, I am claustrophobic.  She said they would not use a machine that would totally enclose me.  Yay.

Ok, I love philly cheesesteak with some Heinz 57, grilled onions and peppers. and good cheese.

I will eat chocolate covered raisins, but not in a movie theatre...I wont eat things that go squish in the dark...

    @kochleffelRaisins are wine's grand parents.

Now, you know I don't drink anymore, but that drink today looked fascinating, booze and a salad....

Annie - ironically, I had my first (and hopefully last) PET scan yesterday. Being somewhat claustrophobic, I was slightly nervous, but I must say compared to an MRI, it was a breeze.  The machine is much wider and not nearly as long as an MRI.  They pretty much moved me through it feet first one time, then I just had to lay still for 25 minutes (which was easy since they kind of restrained my hands and feet). No noise at all.  Hopefully yours will be the same and you get the same good results I received this morning 🤞

We have no pets so I don't have that to worry about.  But Maxine @AncientWanderer might find one underfoot so it's a good thing for her to use her flashlight.

Cruisetimetables.com seems pretty up to date so I'm thinking Volendam is making a straight shot to Port Everglades.

Paul @kochleffel is so right about the closed eyes part.  If keeping them open 100% of the time is a problem I need to act like Frankenstein with my arms out in front of me to stop me from banging my noggin again!

Sandi - I highly recommend these, at least for your route from bed to bathroom.  We’ve put them in master bedroom and hallways.  A little pricey, but they work great at ground level.  Not bright enough to be a bother while sleeping, but enough to keep you from hitting walls.

May be an illustration of text that says 'Misg w ልላ OK. ROGER! THAT'S ALL THE TIME I'VE GOT FOR NOWI I'LL TRY ΤΟ GET BACK TO YOU IN A WEEK OR TWO ΤΟ FINISH UP WITH THE JOB. In a tremendous stroke of luck, Dr. Remley has the opportunity to perform surgery on the contractor who renovated his kitchen.'

Of course, anyone who has had to wait on a contractor will appreciate it too.

Hope you got through the storms ok down your way Lenda.  They sure packed a wallop moving through DFW this evening - sustained winds of 75 mph for quite a while.  Luckily, we only lost power for a minute or so and it came right back on.  Nothing like spring time in TX!

I think I will try the blue bubble posting method that Vanessa @JazzyV mentioned and that several of you like to do, too.  Here goes!

@kazuJacqui, thanks for the Iceland-Greenland meme.  Loved it!  I hope you get all your seeds planted on time.

@cat shepardAnn I hope Bindi is back to her normal calmness soon.

@JazzyVVanessa, great job on the Care and Celebration lists.  Thank you!  Thanks also for the amazing photos from Christchurch.  It must have been so interesting.  They have the ball time signal in Greenwich, England, too.  I believe the signal was at about 1 pm there.

@ger_77Gerry hoping to hear your DH's tooth was replaced today.  Maybe the denturist should start using your super glue. 😆 Nice of your trusted friend to give you a hand setting up the new computer.

@smitty34877Terry pretty snow pic (if you like snow).  I hope your DH's tests come back in a positive way.

@ottahand7Nancy I'm glad you enjoyed your Belem tour but that late couple should be ashamed of themselves.  Thank you for your photos too.  You are certainly having some lovely dinners onboard the Volendam.  On our Amazon cruise they scheduled the Crossing the Equator festivities for after the third crossing.

@dfishDebbie the dining set looks great in your dining room.  I'm glad all the snow that fell didn't delay the delivery today.  The tortellini skillet dinner looks delicious!

@superoma Eva Happy 53rd Anniversary!  The flowers are beautiful!

@aliaschiefBruce it's good to hear someone is sleeping well.  Wish we could all join your well rested club!  The memes each day continue to make me laugh out loud!  Maybe I need to de-stress on a world cruise like Rich is doing.  😉

@Crazy For CatsJake I hope you can easily fall back to sleep with all the wake up calls from the kids.  I'd be an even bigger mess than I already am🥴.

@Cruzin TerriTerri hope you sleep better tonight too.  Amazing that your DH can sleep just about anywhere including standing up.  Hopefully the table arrived today and you and DH can get it set up soon.  Good luck waiting for the tiler.  You should be making good progress on the unpacking of the boxes in the meantime.

@marshhawkAnnie, I'm sorry to hear of the problems with neighborhood pilferers.  We always keep our doors locked, ever since we lived near the prison that Charles Manson was locked up in out in Northern California.  We weren't taking any chances!

@kochleffel Paul, sleep if you can because it can't hurt you.  We are envious.😴  Thank you for the photo from Valdemossa.  Nutty weather!

@cruising sisterLorraine hope you got some public sleeping in today on your flight.  Have a wonderful time!  Your new airport looks nice.

@Quartzsite CruiserLenda good idea your tour guide had telling everyone to arrive back at the bus 30 minutes early and letting you all know the actual time would be 30 minutes later.  Did the couple ever catch on?  When my late sister was first married and had several toddlers she would always be late for Sunday dinner at our parent's house.  So we just told her dinner was 30 minutes earlier than planned.  It worked great!

@AncientWandererMaxine thank you for telling us of your experience in Christchurch, taking the City Line tour bus from Akaroa. I love visiting botanical gardens.  I love the 4 am bathroom visit meme.  If I woke up at 4 am I would just stay awake since I would normally get out of bed within the hour to begin the Daily and then do the treadmill.  Actually I'd be thrilled to sleep from 10 pm to 4 am.  Maybe I'll try the Benadryl route Sharon mentioned.

@TiogaCruiser Laura,I love your creativity with the flowers.  This event should be outstanding.

@Safety SquirrelEdna, thank you for your discussion of the Churchill tour.  We love learning new things.

@rafinmdRoy, thanks for the photos from Christchurch.  I hope the foot continues to go down in swelling.

@Seasick Sailorthanks for the reminder about Honolulu instead of Kauai today.  I simply forgot to note that today.  Nawiliwili is difficult on a good day.   Are you leaving for Fanning Island, Kiribati Wednesday?  Arriving March 4?  Also thanks for the sleep advice.

@luvteachingKaren, it's good to hear your DH is doing well lately and will be home soon.  It's better to be safe than sorry with driving on slippery roads.

@Cruising-alongCarolyn, good luck with all your medical appointments.  And I do feel like a lump tonight.  Sweet dreams to you tonight!

@NextOneEdi, glad to hear your new X-rays and tests look good!  But I hope there won't be a need for a heart valve replacement.  My Mom had two replaced with pig valves in the late 1990's.  I don't know if they still use those these days.  While we were out today we saw blooming trees of all colors and kinds.  Spring is showing up early, so we'd better watch out for the unexpected March or April snow.

@Sharon in AZSharon it's too bad you've been experiencing heartburn and stomach problems lately.  Hoping tomorrow is a better day for you.

@lazey1Jane, what a terrible month you've had!  I'm so sorry you have to go through so many procedures and appointments to get some answers.  Also I hate to hear of the congestive heart failure diagnosis.  Thankfully the medications seem to be helping.  After hearing this I am going to try not to complain about losing sleep even if it does make me feel crummy.  We should always try to look on the bright side of things.  Prayers for you that things improve for you very soon, and good luck with all the doctor visits.

Well sorry this took so long to finish.  Dinner was in the middle there, too, so it couldn't be helped.  I don't like not being able to read and keep up with the Daily all day long.  This one time reply at the end of the day is for the birds!  Now I know how @erewhonfeels.  Well, see you all in the morning.  I have 9 hours to relax and wind down!

You do such a fantastic job of keeping this going and providing thoughtful responses to everyone, just keep doing what works best for you! And 3 months in to raising our now 7 month old terrier rescue pup, I hope for your DD and DSIL that it works out.  It’s so fulfilling but also a full time job! Bailey says hi to the Daily.  She graduates her six week beginner training tomorrow! image.thumb.jpeg.c0658c4b9174224355fbc63ecc942833.jpeg

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I like the combination of chocolate and mint, well, chocolate and anything, really.  The battle of Iwo Jima was horrific with loss of life on both sides.  I wonder if any females were involved in the naming of today's honouring the women veterans?  Interesting.

We've got grey skies, but moderate temperatures today, only -19C and no wind, so it should be nice when I go out to blow off the skiff of snow that came down overnight.  It won't take long, so that will give me more time to research a new desktop computer.  Ours is on it's last legs - this morning it literally took 15 minutes to come on once I pressed the switch.  Then, I'd begun my post and it froze.  I checked, and I can't update to Windows 11, so that's another sign that it's time to pass this one on to someone who can take it, refurbish it, and give it to a school in need.

On another note - yesterday while watching sail-away, I had a package of corn nuts (which I haven't had in I don't remember how long), and was munching on them while enjoying seeing the ships.  Suddenly I realized there must have been a stone or something in the mix, so I quickly spat it out into a tissue.  Unfortunately, it was part of one of my molars.  The good thing is that I don't have any sensitivity, but it still means that I'm likely looking at being turned regal once more with another crown.  LOL  I'll be on the phone first thing tomorrow morning when the dental office opens to get an appointment to have it repaired.

@grapau27I'm sorry to hear about Sarah's friend passing away; please pass along my condolences to her and her friend's family.

@kazuI do hope once the insurance company receives all the documentation, that they process your claim quickly - you don't need any more hassles in your life!  Quick thinking to get your driveway guy to bring up your begonias . . . well done!

@ottahand7I hope your house is safe, and that your missing clothes are soon located!

Special thoughts going out to President Carter with prayers for an easy and peaceful transition.  He did so much for so many for so long.

I know I'd like today's menu suggestion, but in light of the fact that I'm sticking with soft foods, I'll tuck the recipes away for another day.  DH said he'd like something light for dinner, so I've got another salmon fillet  and oven fries that I'll cook up for him and I'll have the remainder of the borscht from yesterday at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for all who are in need, especially those with natural and man-made disasters.  Cheers to all with celebrations.

    Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

    Gerry

Welcome to the corn nut crown club (2 time member here)!  My Dentist says corn nuts should be illegal, but if they were, it would put a damper on her vacation budget (she loves going to Grand Cayman as much as possible).  After the second break, I’ve sworn off them for good.  Good luck getting in to your Dentist ASAP!

    Good morning Daily-ites.

I hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday. Sandi thank you for coming forward with the all important friendly Daily.

Terry I'm happy to see Tana having an appetite. Prayers for all on Sandi's list, including Jacqui, Sarah, all our Ukrainian friends, Kathi, and especially our Roy.

Last month we had ice cream for breakfast! We got home late after our cruise so didn't stop at the market. Next morning making coffee and realized we had no cream. Our freezer came to the rescue by having vanilla caramel swirl ice cream. It was pretty darn good.

Yesterday I slipped on our tile floor and hit my elbow and rib. Don't know if I bruised a rib or pulled a muscle, but it hurts like 😫 Very difficult to get my sweetheart up and ready.

Tonight is pork chops. I want to come up with a new sauce though. I get tired of plain gravy..

Take care my friends. Be kind and pray for those who are braving the freezing, dangerous weather.

Joy - much too late for yiur meal tonight but tuck this away for future.  I use it for pork roast and would work well on chops.  You’ll probably have extra and could freeze for future use.  It’s really tasty and very easy (if you like cranberry)
    1 can whole cranberries

    1/3 cup chopped onion

    3/4 cup orange juice

    1/4 tsp cinnamon

    1/4 tsp ground ginger

Bring to boil and let cool.  Start basting chops or pork loin about 1/2 way through cooking and use extra for side sauce. Enjoy!

Lenda I've just made a note to be on the lookout for the pianist Naki Attaman and will give him your message if I run into him.  Small world eh?

Vanessa, I really hope you can figure out the upset stomach issue.  Not a fun way to feel!

Sandi - had a busy weekend but briefly saw your question yesterday about driving to FLL and avoiding major traffic, tolls in the rental car, etc.  If you haven’t heard of it, Waze is a great free app for road trips.  It will constantly calculate your best route based on current traffic conditions, construction, accidents, etc.  Plus you can choose a route with no tolls if that is your desire.  I never take a road trip without using it now - I actually use it for anything but running errands close by with Dallas traffic and construction.  You’ll occasionally get a very strange detour to avoid a major backup, but I’ve found it to be 100% reliable.  Other app users (wazers) alert you to police, stalled cars on shoulder, etc. (even roadkill - lol).  And if you’re the passenger, you can pass some time passing on those tips to other wazers. I’ve found it to be a game changer on road trips!  Good luck on your drive!

@Kurtybee123  I hope you did not have any problems from the severe weather this aftermoon.  Looking at the weather map on the news, it looked like the areas north and east of Dallas were getting some really bad weather.

@dfish  Debbie, I'm happy you arrived in Midland safeely.  i hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as today.  Enjoy your new home.

    Lenda'

Thanks for thinking of us.  All good here in Plano.  About an inch and a half of rain and some wind, but our storms last month were actually worse.  Northeast of here looks like they got the worst of it, but it sounds like no severe injuries or death luckily.  Sure has cooled off very quickly and the drop in humidity is fantastic!

Good afternoon.  DH and I had a long text conversation, then he got tired of texting and called.  He said the morning PT was good but very tiring.  I could see why since he walked 4 times as much as he has ever done in rehab.  He only has 30 minutes of PT or OT this afternoon.  He might also be tired since he stayed up to watch the Astros win last night.  He's usually been asleep much earlier.

So far, we've gotten about 1/10 inch of rain and not really bad winds or hard rain.  We are still under a tornado watch with a chance of severe storms between 2:30 and 5 pm.  The storms could also have hail, so I'm glad I moved the car to a neighbors port.

Right now, I'm enjoying my daily ration of chocolate in celebration of Candy Day.

Jacqui, I'm sorry your DBIL and niece will be flying home tomorrow morning instead of boarding the ship with you.

    Thank you, Graham.

Ann, it is good that Vickie's DH is aware of her passing.  It must be very hard for him.  On the other hand, how nice that a lady could give Vicki's shelties a home after losing her sheltie.  It was very nice  of the Sheltie Rescue of California to pay all the vet bills for the rest of their lives.  We've see several examples of people going above and beyond the last few days.

Jake, Jasper is a very handsome cat.

Karen, that is good news that your DH is making progress.  Slow but steady seems to be the order of the day with PT.  I agree that his stubbornness may be helping him with the PT.

Vanessa, I'm glad that third injection in your knee is behind  you, and I hope it helps.  Storms since you picture of the jetty were taken have taken a toll on the jetty and the light tower.  This was what we saw on December 1, 2021 as we sailed from Mazatlán

    DSC09526.thumb.JPG.c701443bfeb3d73813165b2418c1bb66.JPG

    .

Nancy, that is good news that your DB is walking better and was able to be transferred to rehab.  I am sending positive thoughts that the infection clears up quickly, so that his pain lessens.

    Lenda

Stay safe Lenda.  News in Dallas just showed some risky weather down your way right now.

I may have said this before.  I just love autocorrect -- NOT!  DH texted me to bring him some dental floss tomorrow, only autocorrect changed it to bring him some "demo falls". 🤣

More progress this afternoon.  Part of the therapy is preparing DH to go home.  Today, the therapist had me come along to watch and to amswer some questions about the car I'll use when the time comes.  They have a mock up of a car to practice getting in and out.  DH had no problems with that.  They even had a "driver" at the wheel, a dressed skeleton.  My home work was to measure how high off the ground the car seats are.

While DH has come a long way in less than a week, there are still areas where he needs a lot of help.  My guess is they will begin working on those areas once he is more stable standing and walking.

Carol, I hope the cortisone shot does the trick.

It is good news, but as you know there are a lot of different areas to cover before a patient is released.

    Lenda

The fact that he’s requesting dental floss (or demo falls) is a good sign! I’d be enjoying the reprieve from those mundane tasks 🤣

Good afternoon.  It's been a fairly dreary day with a lot of clouds and some sun breaks, but no rain.  We need rain, but the chances next week are between 24% and 33%;, so I'm not holding my breath.

It's been a busy day as I'm trying to get a lot of computer work and errands done before next week.  DH got the final clearance for his surgery next Tuesday morning.  The last we heard from the hospital is we have to be there at 5:30 am, so we'll be leaving about 0 dark 30 that morning.😒

Carolyn, I hope you have a save trip, and arrive safely in Quebec City.

Jack, I'm sorry the news about your brother is not good even if it's not unexpected.  I hope he remains comfortable for his remaining time.  That is good news that your DD and her DH are doing the walk through on their new house next week, and you will be getting some quality grandpa time.

Susan, that is not good news about the runner.  I wish the best for him and his family.

Roy, thanks for finding a picture of Diamond Tooth Gertie's.  That really is some place.  I enjoyed your pictures of the Fire Museum.  We will have to check it out the next time we're there.  It is a small world when you run into people you know when far away from home.

Yeah, Terri.  You made it to the beach.  I hope the good weather continues.

Ann, that is good news that Pat has tested negative, and I hope he has a repeat tomorrow.  I'm sorry your cousin's ALS is progressing so quickly.  I hope she remains comfortable.  I'm sorry you will miss the family Thanksgiving, but that is a wise decision.  There were eight couples in our little community who did a cruise recently, and then had a big party when they returned.  We know of at least three people who now have covid, so we are keeping to ourselves mainly until after the last surgery on October 24.

Jim, I'm sorry that you are still without power, but with all the devastation from Ian, I'm not surprised it's taking a while.  It takes time to build the grid back, but I hope it doesn't take too much longer.

Vanessa, I hope you like your new recliner.  I enjoy the one I have in Quartzsite, and maybe I'll get one here someday.  So far the symptoms from the shots are still mild.  I had a stuffy nose for about a hour or so, but that could be something blowing in.  Otherwise, it's just the normal sore arms, a small price to pay for protection.

Good luck on Tuesday.  Don’t forget to wear your burnt orange tomorrow! I’ve been to the game every year since I was a freshman in 1983 except for Covid year when tickets were canceled - that’s 39 years in a row! Give ‘em Hell, Give ‘em Hell, OU S#*KS! 🤘🐂🤘

Good morning from sunny, warm and breezy central Texas.  There is not much on the agenda today, so it may be another lazy day like yesterday.

We watched the Texas Longhorns game last night.  After losing by one point to #1 Alabama last week, the Longhorns moved up to #21.  At the beginning of the game last night, it looked like UT San Antonio might win, but UT out played them in the second half, and the Horns beat the Roadrunners 42-20. 🤘

Some good news this morning, we received an email from the people who will replace the screws in our metal roof.  They have a change in their schedule, and wanted to know if first thing tomorrow was all right to do the job.  When I emailed them back, I ask just what time "first thing" tomorrow was.  It turns out, their idea of first thing in the morning is earlier than ours, and they'll be here at 7:15 am.  I can be up by then, but I'm not sure about DH.  Hopefully, replacing the screws will solve our leak problem.

As far as national cheeseburger day, we celebrated a couple of days early since cheeseburgers were our dinner Friday night.  I value my women friends and hope I'm appreciated as a wife.

The Oscar Wilde quote is interesting, but I'm not sure I completely agree with it.

Stuffed shells are good, and I make them occasionally.  We'll pass on the drink and think about the wine.

We have been to Livorno many times, and all but the first time were on BHBs.  I'll repost my pictures in a few minutes.

@1ANGELCAT    I hope you will be able to enjoy your cruise, and not have to cancel.  However, you know what you can and cannot do, and I'm sure you will decide what is best for you.  And I hope the insurance issue with the doctor is solved soon.

@HAL Sailer  Melisa, I hope your DSIL gets the results of the full body scan soon.  In a way, I can understand her doctor recommending beginning chemo based on what was found during the surgery.  This will give them a head start on fighting the cancer, and hopefully slowing or stopping any further spread of cancer cells.  I feel so sad for your DH not being able to visit with his sister.

@HAL4NOW  Have safe if longer drive to the coast today.  Thanks for the update on the fire and road closures.  You are right, I wouldn't want to be in the path of one of those falling trees.

@ottahand7  Loved the picture of the flowers and the butterfly.  It's interesting the different versions of the King Ranch Casserole recipe.

@cunnorl  It sounds like you have everything under control for you long cruise.  We like longer cruises and have everything arranged so we don't have to worry when we are away.  All our bills are either direct debited from the bank account or charged to a credit card which is debited from the bank account.  Since we travel a lot (or did pre-Covid), our mail is sent to a mail forwarding service which will hold the mail as long as needed.  Needless to say, after a very long trip, we get a big box of forwarded mail, mostly junk.  We no longer have houseplants to worry about, and our neighbor, who has a mowing service, looks after the yard.

@rafinmd  Roy, sending best wishes to the search and rescue members going to Puerto Rico for their safety.

@Crazy For Cats  Jake, I think I know who the boss of your house is.  🤣 🐈

@cat shepard  Welcome home, Ann.  Can't wait to hear about your trip.

@lindaler  Linda, welcome home.  Enjoy your sister's visit to Mobile.

    Good Evening to all

First of all RIP to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.  She was surely a remarkable woman.

    Now for my news.

We have moved to a hotel.  Not exactly what I was hoping for, but it was the one I chose because it is 4 1/2 miles from home.  We have decided to stay here until next week and then move to someplace better in Savannah.

The insurance rep had a medical emergency yesterday and apologized profusely for not being available,  However, he made up for it today.

Tomorrow we have an appointment with the adjuster at 11 am and then Jim has a doctor’s appointment at 2:30.  So we are glad to be nearby.

Next Wednesday we have an appointment with the General Contractor and he will assess the situation and determine the cost and the length of time to get the work done.  We have two months of hotel stay booked and it is not a problem to change hotels.

We have also decided that we will probably go to Barbados in the beginning of October as planned since there is nothing that we can do or change here.  Besides, we need the rest.

So that is my update.  I have not read the posts.  I have been busy all day.  Had nothing to eat except a sandwich.  It has been another crazy day.

I hope you are all well.

I will try to post tomorrow after we meet with the adjuster.

    God Bless.

    Terri

Excellent plan and glad things are falling in place.  Many years ago when worry of black mold was a concern, one of my shower valves behind the travertine tile let loose like your toilet.  Rather than break through the travertine, they went through the drywall in the living room.  Fear of mold, insurance sent us to a hotel for a month.  Hated to be away from home, but after seeing the construction mess, glad we weren’t there.  Try to treat it as a small ‘vacation’!

We are trying to do that.  Tried to get in touch with the claims rep all day.  Never returned my calls.

    Very frustrating.

    Terri

Stay vigilant with the insurance (sounds like you are without needing my 2 cents).  They should definitely have you in a hotel, and it sounds like you’ll be comfortable with the contractor you’ve selected, so you won’t have to be overseeing every detail of the repairs yourself (and hopefully won’t impact your planned upcoming travel 🙏).  You just need to weather this initial ‘storm’.

Except she has been used for housing Ukrainian refugees for the last several months.  Unclear what services were provided by ship staff compared to normal cruise  If you have the same people staying in rooms for a longer period of time there might be more wear, especially if less services were provided.

Volendam has been housing refugees.  Noordam is currently in Alaska.

    Good morning all!

It feels like fall is arriving, we had a few days in the mid 80's F and now it will be down in the low-mid 70's for awhile.  It feels good!

A good collection of days, I'll take a hard pass on the meal but the drink sounds good and the wine is one I've had before and liked it.  Never been to this port, thanks for the photos!

Today we'll be doing a grocery run and need to buy some paint (hahaha).  It's for the post that I always have my Sweet Peas climb.  DH will need to pressure wash it first, then I'll try to get it painted (no wine involved, darn!) before the weather turns.

Sue @Rowsbyenjoy your month in Hawaii!  Loving your photos. 🙂

Lenda @Quartzsite CruiserHappy 55th Anniversary to you and your DH!

Sandi @StLouisCruisersHappy 14th Birthday to your DGS Austin!

Thank you Vanessa @JazzyVfor the correction on @marshhawk's anniversary date.  I was sure she had said it will be the 9th. 😉

Well hopefully things will be returning to normal now that my neighbor is back home.  This morning I saw Jinx on his own porch with a bowl of food.  I really wonder if the girls thought he'd gone off and died (he's elderly) and that's why nobody was looking for him.  Teenage girls shouldn't have been left alone so long, but that's a whole other story...

Great news about I-35 in Waco.  We only made the drive down once last year and what a mess it was going through there.  But I’m sure they’ll start working on another area soon.  I’ve been making that drive for 35+ years and there’s always construction.  I always joke with friends that as many times as Hillsboro has been torn up and expanded over the years, somebody at TXDOT must think it’s going to be the next Dallas or Houston! 🤣

Good morning from a dark and misty central Texas.   Yesterday's rain was all around us, but somehow managed to miss us.  Looking at the weather radar, again we are sort of the eye of the rain in this area.  We have a chance for some rain n about an hour, if the radar future cast is correct.  🤞  We have been hearing thunder for about an hour.  Since I typed this, it has started raining and the driveway is now wet.

Three important days to celebrate.  VJ Day ended a years long nightmare in the Pacific.  Food banks perform an important service, but I wish there was not a need for them.  Our college colors are burnt orange and white.   GO HORNS!

Another interesting quote today, and I'll need to think about it.  We'll definitely pass on the meal and on the drink.  Looking forward to the wine description.

@rafinmd  Thank you Roy, for putting our anniversary on the Celebration List.  We've packed a lot into the past 55 years, and I wonder where the time has gone.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, thank you for the anniversary wishes.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AUSTIN!

@ottahand7  Thank you for the anniversary wishes.  That brisket looks good.  We haven't smoked a brisket in years.  We'd have to get up too early to put it in the smoker and have it ready for dinner.  The only way to get tender brisket, as you know, is low and slow, and then let it stay at 190-200F for a while.

@cunnorl  Thank you for the anniversary wishes.  We hope to have many more anniversaries.  We'll look tomorrow to see if we can see the launch.  Hope they make it this time.

@Heartgrove  Jack, thank you for wishing us a happy anniversary.  I hope you hear from the insurance adjuster soon.

@ger_77  Gerry, thank you for your good wishes.  I'm glad the dinner went well last night.

@cat shepard  Ann, thanks for the good wishes on our anniversary.  My guess is, they will provide lunch at the Princess Lodge.  Since Princess and HAL are under the HAL Group, I would not be surprised if they shared some facilities for the Alaska land tours.

@superoma  Thanks for remembering us on our anniversary.

@Cruzin Terri  Terri, thank you for the anniversary wishes.  I hope you don't have to build that ark.  Isn't technology great and time saving?  🤣

@aliaschief  Bruce,  I have my fingers crossed 🤞 the dishwasher is up and running by dinner time.  Thank you for the anniversary wishes.

@Seasick Sailor  Joy, thank you for the lovely anniversary "card".  Where are you and DH going to the VA?  DH went to the one in Waco when we first moved here, but had to switch to our PCP.  They insisted they needed to see him every six months, and that did not fit in with our travel schedule.

@smitty34877  Terry, that's good news it is getting cool enough to have the windows open.

@seagarsmoker   Thanks for the anniversary wishes.

@lindaler  Linda, thanks for the good wishes for our anniversary.  I'm happy you are settling into life in Mobile and are enjoying the area.

Now, I'll see what I posted on July 16, 2021, from A Coruna.

    Lenda

Happy Anniversary Lenda and Hook ‘em Horns!  We’ll be driving down to Austin tomorrow morning for the game and hoping the sporadic rain showers take the day off!  And of course the required stop for kolaches not far from you in West on the way home Sunday.  🤘🐂🤘
