Meals on board

Yes and one of the thing I love about Princess is that you can get a meal in the buffet all day long. Some cruise lines close the buffet for example after lunch at 3 pm then don't reopen it until dinner. Not so on Princess, you don't have to worry!

Besides the usual MDR (sea days lunch only) and HC which is open continually from 6 AM to 11 PM every day, there is the pizzeria and grill as well as the IC (open 24 hours). Like others have said you definitely not go hungry on a Princess ship.

We miss having lunch in the dining room on port days. The dining room used to open every day for lunch until Princess instituted this new policy a few years ago. Occasionally we've found that they'll open the dining room for lunch on a port day when there's a late arrival (1p.m. or later) or early departure (before 1 p.m.) But you can't count on this. You just have to pay attention to the hours listed in the Patter.

We miss it too. :(

Our dining times were a little messed up with shore excursions on the Emerald a couple of weeks ago. So we headed to the buffet. I have to say, the food was decent, at best, during off-peak times. And getting the attention of the waiters/waitresses was harder than I've ever experienced on Princess.

On our recent cruise on Crown, we disembarked on Saturday, the food in the buffet at lunch was very repetitive and of poor choice. Do not know if someone thinks UK cruisers like battered fish but to have it on every day of the cruise is a bit too much and the service due to lack of staff was very poor compared to our last cruise on Emerald Princess.

We had the same issue on the Ruby in January. We eat most of our meals in the buffet and the repetition was almost painful.
