Another Ivan's pie - Lamb and veg. I have never seen a pie with so much filling. I wish. Not my pic but posted for you pie addicts.

Yes I was impressed with the amount of filling in their cottage pie as well.

Ships are very particular about the types of lettuce they allow on board, no icebergs are allowed since 1912.

That's a little gem of advice, almost rocket science😉

National Scone Day today, according to the ABC

Now is it Scone or Scon? I say Scone.   I mean if you live in Scone NSW you live in Scone not Scon.

Now I am confused with my own jibbering.😁

Wish I could eat these, cannot find GF Scones.😬

Make your own using a gluten-free lemonade scone recipe. Dead easy!

Coles have gluten-free self raising flour.

That's a fantastic recipe, Julie:  quick and easy.  I've seen gf sr flour, but never bought it.  I have a lemonade scone recipe which uses very cold butter.  This one is much easier.  Thanks for the link.  Would you try it, Les?

My father used to say someone had "a long crack in the scone" if he didn't like them.  I asked him when I was little why that was, and he said their brain had escaped.  He had some corkers of sayings.

I make regular lemonade scones. I use 1/4 cup lemonade and 1/4 cup regular cream to every cup of SR flour. They freeze very well, and they just need a quick zap in the microwave.

I think you'd need the thickened cream for the GF version though.

Might have a go but will not be easy.

Around my area, scone (pronounced scon) was slang for your head. I think it has Geordie roots, and there were plenty from northern England working in Newcastle's steel mills.

Les, I would like to give you a hint to make fantastic scones. Whatever recipe you use (Julie's looks good) handle the dough as little as you can - just enough very gentle mixing to combine the ingredients. I don't use a scone cutter. I just gently pat the dough into a long very fat sausage shape, then cut into discs. Too much handling of the dough makes the scones tough. Try Julie's recipe and let us know how you go. 🙂
