39august Posted October 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2018 I have done 10:45 flights from FLL in the past on RCI, but we get escorted off with the suites, so off quite early. Is this time reasonable from a Celebrity ship? I'd rather not carry off, so looking at regular debarkation. Can we request early departure time to be assigned? cb at sea Posted October 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2018 It's fine, unless there is some unforeseen problem. You don't need to do self-carry...but do tell them you have an early flight, so you're in one of the 1st groups off.
Rare Essiesmom Posted October 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2018 It will be fine, assuming you ship is coming into FLL and not Miami. EM
RodPat Posted October 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2018 If you are in a suite on Celebrity the concierge will walk you off. Usually about 8:30 am. If you are in Ft. Lauderdale and leaving from there you should be fine as the airport is close to the pier. Pat
Phxazzcruisers Posted October 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 22, 2018 we are currently on Infinity and actually have a 10:00 flight from FLL. To be safe, we will have the Michael's Club hostess walk us off as soon as allowable and we will have our luggage with us.
39august Posted October 22, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted October 22, 2018 We are definitely not in a suite! We will NOT be escorted off. Could I please have some more input? Yes, from FLL.
Duanerice1 Posted October 22, 2018 #7 Share Posted October 22, 2018 Just off the Equinox. Walk off started about 7 AM and general disembarking was scheduled to start at 8 (could have started sooner but we got off at 7). We were back home in Ft Myers by 10:30 and that was from Miami with a stop for a quick breakfast. You could also do luggage valet then walk off pretty much anytime. Luvcrusn Posted October 22, 2018 #8 Share Posted October 22, 2018 Walk off an you should be fine since it starts at about 7:00 AM. The first time for regular disembarkation is 8:00 AM and you can request that. If everything goes perfectly it's all good, but if there's a delay for any reason you may have a problem. I'd suggest using luggage valet, but you won't be permitted to participate with that early of a flight. If you have Global Entry, that will get you out of the terminal quickly. Rare hcat Posted October 22, 2018 #9 Share Posted October 22, 2018 (edited) Suite guests seem to get priority in getting to Customs lines....even if you walk off.. Things may be backed up by the time you get off in the first non walk off group...using a porter may help. It should still be fine IF all goes well and you get a quick cab ride, and security and baggage lines at the airport are not backed up... I'd be too stressed out. We stay over in port an extra night and easily make an early flight the next day.. Edited October 22, 2018 by hcat
twincheryl Posted October 22, 2018 #10 Share Posted October 22, 2018 Not an issue if you walk off. We started doing just that even if we have a later flight. So nice to get off without all the crowds, get a taxi/car to the airport, have a leisurely breakfast, etc.
maggieq Posted October 22, 2018 #11 Share Posted October 22, 2018 We got the first number tags and were at the airport in plenty of time for a flight around 10:30/10:45am flight This was for the equinox in June of this year.
CHEZMARYLOU Posted October 22, 2018 #12 Share Posted October 22, 2018 We made a 10:20 flight out of FLL with plenty of time to spare. We were in a suite so had escort off the ship as soon as it was cleared for non walk off guests. There was delay because of confusion in the terminal about the location of the suite's luggage (it was not where it was suppose to be) but we ran into a porter from other cruises who got our luggage and to a short customs line and a taxi. If you think you are running late, the tip to the porter is $well spent.

39august Posted October 23, 2018 Author #15 Share Posted October 23, 2018 Luggage valet is not available for flights earlier than 11:30 AM. We use it when we can and get off when we please. However, it looks like we better decide to tote our luggage and do the self debark.
JohninDC Posted October 25, 2018 #16 Share Posted October 25, 2018 You can ask for a lower number. For a 10:45 flight you need to be at FLL by about 9:15 - and earlier is better with the TSA chaos typical on busy days. The taxi ride from PE to FLL takes about 15 min (and should cost about $15), so that translates into off the ship, with bags, and clear of customs/immigration before 9:00 (8:30 to be safe). It should work out - please report back and let us know how it went.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted October 25, 2018 #17 Share Posted October 25, 2018 To expedite Customs Clearance you might want to give Mobile Passport a try. It is a smart phone app and there is an expedited line for those using it. Very easy to use. You set it up in advance by scanning passport and creating an account. Within 3 hours of clearance all you do is answer the questions on a regular customs form and press submit. It crates a Bar Code that customs scans and bam your cleared. It is as fast as Global Entry and is free.
39august Posted October 25, 2018 Author #18 Share Posted October 25, 2018 No smart phones. We have TSA pre-check. But thanks for all replies. This is not until Feb. so air schedules may change before then.

Since your cruise is Feb. you'd have time to apply for Global Entry (which comes with TSA pre check as well). You will then just need your passport and Global Entry card (no kiosks in Port Everglades or Port of Miami) to get you through quickly. It's $100 per person, but might be a solution for you. phoenix_dream Posted October 26, 2018 #20 Share Posted October 26, 2018 I hate when people tell you it will definitely not be a problem. The truth is that it will probably not be a problem. We have been on two cruises where we were not able to start disembarkation until after 9:00. On those occasions we would never have made a flight that early. Doesn't happen often, but it can happen. Have a back-up plan just in case. If it were me, I would definitely do walk-off. These days so many people are doing walk-off (many of them I suspect for convenience rather than need - which I feel is selfish but.....), anyway...……..the walk-off crowd can be huge. And regular disembarkation doesn't start until the walk-off crowd is off. Plus there are so many of them the elevators get very, very crowded. Tiggertastic Posted October 26, 2018 #21 Share Posted October 26, 2018 Ok it depends if you’re US or not. We disembarked with 2 friends from US and we’re U.K. we had different lines for immigration, they were at the airport by 8.15am. We got there at 12 as we were only given 1 person the check non US. next time we walked the bags off at 7am, we’re almost first through and made it fine
