Rare puppycanducruise Posted February 2, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2019 It's difficult to buy a gift for a stranger. You don't know their preferences, if they have allergies, religious restrictions etc. So just treat them with respect, and give them a bit of cash so they can support their family.

Paul Bogle Posted February 2, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2019 The crew live in limited space. They do not have room to keep extra things. What they do have room for and what they are working to acquire is money.

MJSailors Posted February 2, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2019 Agree with others posting here. A cash tip is appreciated as well as keeping a neat cabin and treating the steward with respect.

newmexicoNita Posted February 2, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2019 always just give an extra tip and a thank you note. This works as they can use the cash plus you can decide, during the cruise whether he/she deserves extra and how much. It is rare we have not left extra but there have been a few that have not been all that great.

April42749 Posted February 2, 2019 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2019 (edited) The only thing that won't end up in the garbage is CASH! Just wanted to add, that although your intentions are good, I'd personally throw out a bottle of sauce because I don't need or use sauces. This is why I don't get involved with roll call gift exchanges. It's highly unlikely anyone would me anything that I wouldn't consider clutter. Most would throw out that bottle of BBQ sauce rather than Taking up space in their cabin.

Rare 1025cruise Posted February 2, 2019 #18 Share Posted February 2, 2019 Most crew are art collectors. Their favorite is small, rectangular pieces of green paper with pictures of dead presidents. 6

FreestyleNovice Posted February 2, 2019 #22 Share Posted February 2, 2019 Imagine the crew member stealing the show in the crew cafetaria with his bottle of Frank's hot sauce on everything he eats. The center of attention at crew parties.

victory2020 Posted February 2, 2019 #24 Share Posted February 2, 2019 Obviously everyone has different opinions. I always bring my cabin steward chocolate, energy bars & nuts(peanuts seem to be a favorite). I have been thanked profusely, as well as been given champagne, bottles of water, trinkets from their home countries, etc, so I'm assuming they have been happy. Their cabins are small so I keep selections to consumables.

Cash is king and is the thing that is most apppreciated by a crew member for a job well done.
