Rare Germancruiser Posted March 27, 2019 #602 Share Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) All in all i really like what I see from both Milly and Summit after their Revolution. the cabins look nice and ary. For the live of me i can´t say which cabin I liked more - these " before and after " pictures were great to compare both. The cabins were redone - not totaly and complete - like in the Revolution- in the Milli Class- Solsticeation. My first X cruise was on board Milli- when she just came out- brand new back then. I like the old style - first style cabin, as well. I ordered room service breakfast when I booked a Concierge Cabin and always took it either on the balcony or at the desk. The little table in front of the sofa was for that purpose to low. So I enjoyed my breakfast sitting in front of the mirror- did i always look at myself eating my breakfast- absolutley not- I was busy eating- no time for watching myself doing so! A full room service dinner, lunch, breakfast, whatever for two in a regular verandah cabin was and is a challenge- for that purpose those cabins are to small in the first place. Breakfast was okay- when traveling solo and when in Concierge Class- for the tables on the balcony were lager in CC ! For two we would never have dreamed about taking breakfast in a regular verandah! Very unconfortable either in the new cabins or in the old ones! Quite honestley this little table was more in the way then usefull. I can´t count the time I bumped against it. Noooooo- I am not in my dotting years as of yet- but still...! lol Edited March 27, 2019 by Germancruiser
Rare Germancruiser Posted March 27, 2019 #603 Share Posted March 27, 2019 This aft sunset bar is one my favorite placed on board- not necearly for a light lunch or breakfast- to windy for that most of the time. There was always sun- even with the old outfit- at about sunset, there was no shade whatsoever. So I really don´t see the problem here. There is not sun there from dusk to dawn- so just get a time when its more protected from the sun! For those with skin problems - well I feel terribly sorry for them- but they have to be careful whereever they go.
Rare Plato123 Posted March 27, 2019 #604 Share Posted March 27, 2019 We have been on several S Class cruises and on the Edge. We are thinking about the Summit for later this year, but the video of the Sky suite looks quite spartan and no couch, unless I missed something. Very glad to see better chairs on balconies than on our Edge Sky suite and very glad to see no giant rocking chair to get in your way.

One cruising ritual we enjoy is ordering coffee, juice, and an English muffin in my room early before we go to the gym or leave for a shore excursion. I suspect these changes have been made to discourage ordering from room service because it saves Celebrity money in long run on these services. I am thinking of bringing the little table from outside and using that.
Luv2Crus40 Posted March 27, 2019 #606 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Wonder if people will be "borrowing" small tables from around the ship for their rooms. The poor stewards will be busy moving furniture, Cactus plants, vases, etc. and out of the cabins and suites. Like others, some changes look nice, others are strange for s "luxury" cruise line. Their designer obviously was going for IKEA cheap, not cruise comfort. What seemed like a good idea, did not turn out as they hoped. I hope that Lisa will direct Celebrity to make the nevessary changes suggested by actual cruisers. She and Hoppen and their families, will be sailing on the Edge, I think this year, and will see for themselves.
Luv2Crus40 Posted March 27, 2019 #607 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Forgot to add. We've been on the Summit 4 times. Next Summit cruise is in two months. We love this ship. Next favorite ship is the QM2. After this sailing will decide if we go back to Cunard QM2.
Rare hcat Posted March 27, 2019 #608 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Qm 2 is lovely...very sturdy for northern waters. Our favs are Silhouette and Equinox Have been on Summit RT to Hawaii, Carib, Bermuda, etc. Looking forward to seeing the changes....Some stuff was getting old and seedy. New may not be our taste but at least it will be newer!

Luv2Crus40 Posted March 27, 2019 #611 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Couch is no longer in cabins. See pics. Glad Summit was returned, needed it, but an experienced cruiser should have had some input.

CruisinRoxy Posted March 27, 2019 #613 Share Posted March 27, 2019 It’s really a shame that folks who spent so much money have to figure out how to redecorate rooms and balconies in order to utilize furniture! Those plastic milk crate seats are ridiculous! As are armless chairs and short hard couches! I cannot wait to sail Summit next February but I’m a little worried about what I’ve seen. Hopefully some realistic changes will be made by then!

The shower is a little different and not as big. There are pictures on one of the first few Millennium sailing reviews after dry dock or the Millennium revolution thread. There is no coffee table. The tv is no longer in the corner to see from all angles. It's over a credenza against the wall so only can be viewed from the bed unless there's a swing bracket??? The blind has been replaced by a curtain that when pushed to the side, covers half the door. I will be bringing a hook to drape the curtain over or else there will be very little light in the cabin from what I can see. The balcony furniture is the biggest disgrace if you ask me. No loungers and a just a bench in it's place. I will be requesting some. If two don't fit with the bench, then it will have to go. Maybe the butler can donate it to the Penthouse for the week. Also the table out there looks cafeteria style and the chairs look classroom style
JFontaine Posted March 27, 2019 #615 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Just like as happened on the Edge, early cruisers on the Summit and Millenium will hopefully speak up about renovations or furniture that just don't work; acting as pioneers of improvement for cruisers who will come later. I am not saying that we should spend our vacation complaining, but I hope that if people speak up, not only will they get what they need to have an enjoyable cruise, but they will improve the experience for those that come after them (and even on future ships). I will be doing that in the Summit penthouse this summer, if the furniture issues have not been resolved by then. And my heartfelt thanks to Jim who has facilitated this discussion on the M class ships, and VT Cruising on Edge. You both are rock stars in my book for spending the time that you did. Thanks

dazey Posted March 27, 2019 #617 Share Posted March 27, 2019 We will be in one of the newly created oceanview cabins (3125) on Summit in a few weeks. We recently sailed on the Edge in an oceanview and found it to be quite nice especially the bathroom. Maybe we are not that demanding(since we do balcony and oceanview obviously) but found the cabins to be acceptable. I did miss on the Edge the full Martini Bar and also the shops that one could afford to purchase an item or two and also the sales. I am hoping the Summit will fulfill those wishes. I am hoping to find a cruise that has Murano which is my favorite. LePetite Chef - did it and not again. The service staff seemed to push everyone to decide and eat at the same pace and choices were limited. I did like Fine Cut and Eden. All in all, the Edge was fine but I would not spend many more dollars for it. Thank you to all for contributing to this site.

If you go to the Millie Revolution thread and do a search of 6145/6146 you should see the photos. We’ve loved these two suites in the past, and had 6145 booked next month on Millie. But we ended up switching to the CS after seeing what I consider to be the pathetic furniture both inside and balcony. The bathroom is the only attribute left to these two suites IMO. They were bigger than the older OV6 rooms. Now that cruisers know about them, they are popular. Great location. Quiet hallway and really big windows.

rosskeys88 Posted March 27, 2019 #624 Share Posted March 27, 2019 For the Hoppen doubters...it’s much more elegant in person. So far, the redesign is great, and exceeds expectations. That said, old problems die hard; we have had plumbers in our room for 3 hours. A bad smell became yellow/green water in all sinks/tub/shower/balcony tub. The “retreat model” doesn’t have a staffing plan either. It’s clear staff doesn’t ecactly know their role and are being pulled from place to place. other than that—it’s stunning 6
