Knickearth Posted April 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2019 I am an elite passenger and for the first time ever my reservation reads that hubby and I are each getting cruise night coupon books. what are these? In the past, we use to get coupon books with stuff for the stores (raffles) and sometimes something for the casino. But it was never printed on our reservation form? Thanks in advance to anyone who knows.
fishywood Posted April 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2019 From Princess or from your Travel Agent? In other words, when you say "my reservation reads..." are you reading your Booking Confirmation from Princess, or the invoice from (if you used one) your TA? beg3yrs Posted April 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2019 There's another older thread about these but now I have first-hand information. We just got off a cruise and had the Cruise Night Coupon books. Pretty much the same as the books everyone used to get but don't unless their TA offers them. There's a first-night BOGO for the specialty restaurants, a coupon for a free bingo ticket, a gift for a cheap necklace at Effy and maybe one or two that someone else would find useful. Otherwise it was pretty much like the old books, good for a coaster or to jam into squeaky places in your cabin if the ship is rocking. 1
skynight Posted April 22, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2019 Look for them in your cabin on boarding day. Go through them page by page. The ones we had last year had a Buy One Get One Free specialty dining coupon for use on boarding day evening. I have also seen a free bottle of sparkling water in the specialty restaurant and one time a free small bottle of wine. So don't forget to look through the books for things you may have to do right away.
MCC retired Posted April 22, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2019 It is a slightly better Coupon Book than the standard one everyone gets . 1st night Bo/Go Speciality Restaurant is the highlight 👍 Booking during a TA week long Cruise Night Sale gets you this Book. Used to get buried in coupon books and materials for each port, trying to get you to buy stuff in the stores on shore. And yes, a great tool to use as a wedge or shim for something uneven or squeeky in the cabin.

cruzsnooze Posted April 23, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2019 (edited) The Bogo for first night specialty restaurant is worthless to those in a suite who get that dinner included in their suite fare. Edited April 23, 2019 by cruzsnooze

Cruzsnooze, For poor folks like me, who can’t afford suites , it is still a nice little treat. 😉 Knick earth, I still have a coupon book. Thought I’d thrown them both away after our cruise last week. I will give it to mom and she can pass it on to you so that you can see what’s in it.
RMMariner Posted April 23, 2019 #10 Share Posted April 23, 2019 I live in hope that I will open one of these coupon books, and it will have a coupon for a coupon book that actually has some good coupons. 1

I told her this morning you were going to do that. Then I told her I would have to report her for bringing those god dam see's candies to us. I asked at the CG on the Grand 3 wks. ago and HW said to use it any time we wished.

There are some nights when the DR menu isn't all that appealing.
TarHeelCruiser81 Posted September 9, 2023 #17 Share Posted September 9, 2023 (edited) We received an E-mail from PCL stating we'd receive coupon books on our 12-day British Isles cruise beginning 8/24 aboard the Regal Princess. Never received them during the cruise. The more time I have to review how the cruise went compared to what was billed, the more I think about never booking another cruise with Princess. You have resurrected a dead post from over 4 years ago. Since then the coupon books have become virtual with e-coupons that I think you would have been notified of in an email from Princess. Otherwise, they could have been collected at Guest Services (a hardcopy print-out). Or, I think you could have just claimed any of them (but I suppose you wouldn't have known what they were). Some of us think you didn't miss much by not having the coupons as they are nothing like they were pre-pandemic.

Thrak Posted September 10, 2023 #21 Share Posted September 10, 2023 I have a question regarding one of the coupons. There is one for a free bottle of wine at a specialty restaurant but it says it is "only good on embarkation night". I have a multi-segment cruise coming up. It's one trip on one ship but has 6 different booking numbers. It would seem "logical" that the first night of any of those segments "should" be considered an embarkation night. Of course Princess isn't necessarily logical but am I looking at this correctly? First night of a cruise that has it's own booking number should be an embarkation night.

You probably DID receive them but just didn't know it. The Coupon books we receive from our TA are "electronic" and we don't ever get them in physical form (beyond maybe an Email). The Princess "system' knows there are there and against your account, even if you don't. Yes, not a great way to run a business, they should have told you about them since, as a newbie, you wouldn't have known about them.
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted September 10, 2023 #24 Share Posted September 10, 2023 My TA reminded me several times that I electronically received a link to the coupon book on my last and next cruise. Printed it out at home. When I redeemed the free wine on embarkation meal at the Crown Grill, server needed to verify and cut off coupon. Received a Chardonnay. Did not use any of the other coupons. On my next cruise, I’m thinking of sitting for Platinum free photo. Hesitant about free $10 casino for $20 spent. Last time, I did something like that, it was a fiasco EFFY…. Such a joke
Thrak Posted September 16, 2023 #25 Share Posted September 16, 2023 On 9/10/2023 at 12:19 PM, that said: The coupon books are linked to booking numbers. I doubt that anybody in Crown Grill would be checking to see if a coupon is linked to a booking. More likely that they would just accept it and that would be the end of things. However, I have no real life experience in this matter.
