I wish Princess would....

I know I'll be sorry but; Explain this statement "no one would have to hide their purchases in order to enjoy them & could order 2 drinks at a time without having to go to a different bar to get another".

It's self explanatory.

People could sit together & order two drinks at the same time without having to go to another bar for the second drink.

It makes it easier all around for everyone.

yes, 2 PBP's can order 2 drinks ...one for each package to be consumed by the package holder ...

* Play "The Love Boat" song during sailaways (like they used to).

* Schedule an ABBA night for the DJ at least once every cruise.

We were on the Regal in Baltic a few weeks ago and very happy to say they played the “Love Boat” theme at least six times, that I could hear. (Sailaways and passing military island installation out of St. Petersburg ). In fact, the Regal is the only ship I’ve been on recently where it’s played. Brings a smile to all!

And we also had an ABBA night when we left Stockholm! Was a huge hit!

The main problem with princess live is that, except for the first row, you cannot turn the chairs around so that teams can easily communicate with each other. Also, there is no table or other spot for putting down paper to write on.

A second problem is that when they do have an event there that is being recorded for future broadcast, the TV cameras block many people's view.

Explorer's Lounge on many ships is fully packed with standing room only for evening entertainment.

And, no, the Lido deck is not a substitute for a decent Promenade deck.

a) The promenade deck on the pre-Royal class ships was covered so that you could still be on it if it was raining.

b) Unlike the Lido deck, you could sit on a lounge facing the ocean and rest or read in a quiet environment while getting sea air or just gazing out at the sea.

Applause re: Explorer’s Lounge! We love that place and yes it is almost always “standing room only.” I’ve yet to see Princess Live totally full.

We too miss the Promenade deck on recent builds. Our favorite (like everyone else) is the Coral and their beautiful Promenade deck.

We've had a sofa on every cruise line other than Princess. That includes Royal Caribbean, Carnival, NCL and Celebrity. Actually, the Royal Caribbean cruise and one of the Carnivals weren't even balcony cabins. They were OV cabins and still had a sofa.

Jim

I guess what you call a sofa differs from what I call a sofa... haven't been on RCCL in years, but have been on the new Celebrity ship - CC cabin class on Equinox, Ecilpse,  Shiloutte

and recently one NCL ship don't recall the name... mini suite type cabin.  Celebrity had a hard foam block on seat and back so uncomfortable never used it was all that I saw; don't recall any sofa on NCL ship at all.  By contrast on Princess with a mini suite I get a sofa bed which is comfortable and bath tub.   I prefer Princess mini suites cabins... to what I have seen on Celebrity, NCL, Cunard and the new HAL ships.

Just about every mass market cruise line has small sofa in a basic room including inside rooms except Princess.

I have cruised Princess, Celebrity, NCL, Cunard and HAL over past 10 years, have not seen a sofa in any cabin accept on Princess mini suites... Celebrity new ships, Eciplse, Equinox, Silhoutee... has a poor excuse for a sofa in CC cat  that is a very hard piece of foam on the seat and back so hard I never used it, because very uncomfortable besides right next to the closest.... location in cc cabin very poor.    I prefer Princess mini suite cabins to anything I have seen on these other line  -- in fact, Cunard sells the same mini suite cabin as a "suite" on the QM2 with a much higher price tag.

I did not know there was a debate as to what constituted a sofa. And I just have too many things going on right now to want to get into a duel.

The poor excuse is the fact that Princess doesn't even provide a chair anymore. I have sailed Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Carnival and they all had a sofa of some sort in the ocean view and balcony rooms I booked except Princess

I know I'm off topic but I was going to make this a: I wish Princess would .... but then I heard they will!

Give me a drink coupon to use at Crooners on short (less than a week) voyages instead of the Captains Party.

May be easier to get a chair back in the room than a sofa... good luck.

Not waiting for a chair or sofa. This is a Princess wish list. I have already taken my business elsewhere but that has to do with itinerary, embarkation port and sailing dates.   I have found I can sail longer itineraries in better accommodations with the airfare savings by sailing on lines that support the New York area. With all of the changes and cuts across the board these days it's down to checking a pros and cons list when booking a cruise.

The Grand Class ships are smaller than the larger RC ships like the Anthem, so sofas may not work, but the barrel chairs worked fine. I enjoyed looking out of the window while sitting in the barrel chairs, especially on cold cruising days when the balcony could not be used. The barrel chairs were also convenient for company.  From the pictures posted, it looks like the RC cabins are narrower and deeper than the Grand Class ships, which works to include a sofa because the ships are much larger.

Yes both Royal and Celebrity rooms are narrow and deep. Princess is more of a square.

Good for you, makes sense to me.

Doing the same thing, here only for us, at this point, simply trying to avoid flying as much as possible ... so going round trip as often as we can from our home port is a priority... Princess fills that bill.     We have seen most places we wanted, so now it is just about getting away for a few days.  No doubt Princess can improve their product but so far the direction they are going with Royal class is simply copying what Celebrity did, HAL is doing the same thing, so it goes.

Happy cruising to you out of NY!!

I wish Princess would make people who treat the crew badly walk the plank. Or a more reasonable request; I wish Princess would speed up the Anytime dining wait time.

We have had anytime dining and once we found out that we could make reservations, never had much of a wait.

My biggest pet peeve; I wish Princess would not allow guests to sit or stand on the outside aisle steps when the seats are filled during a show.  I feel this is a safety issue in an emergency situation, or in my case if I wanted to leave during a show, I would not be able to climb the stairs past the guests blocking the stairs as I have limited mobility.  Also worst case scenario, could be a definite fire hazard.

I'm another guest who needs the barrel chair, it's the only way I can reach down to put on and tie my shoes [I'm short!]  On my last cruise, Sept. 3 Alaska,  my husband requested a club chair for our obstructed view cabin, the steward brought the chair in about 10 minutes [thank you Sirachai!].

I would like to see a few more hand rails along some open areas of the ship, such as in the casino pass through just along the long walk from one end of the casino through to the Princess Theater area  and especially on deck 7 from the Explorer Lounge area to the Vista Lounge [Grand Princess]. I've been jostled many times by people viewing their photos and not watching where they're going.  A long hand rail dividing the walkway would be helpful in that area, with enough breaks in the lengths to allow for a wheelchair or walker to fit through.   Same reqest for buffet deck areas, and by the pool areas where it's sometimes slippery.

Wish more of the live Princess theater shows at night could be shown simulcast  in the Explorer Lounge, we did sit there for one show that was simulcast and felt much more relaxed at the end when we were not in fear of being trampled at the exit.

I wish the deck 6 area on Grand Princess looking down on the atrium had some seating,  also maybe take out a shop and put in a specialty, for fee ice cream parlor!  A place like that would be awesome!

The kiosk for printing out stateroom accounts was no longer available on my Sept. 3 cruise, I don't have a cell phone due to hearing loss, miss that kiosk.

Last thing, the Art Auction in the Explorer Lounge usually happens around 1 p.m. [Grand Princess].  Why do they set up the Auction gallery before 8 a.m. and rope it off all morning so the lounge can't be used all day?  That's wasting that space all morning.

While possibly less convenient you can always get a printout at Passenger Services.

FYI: some of the new hearing aids (if you use them) have Bluetooth capability that can connect the aid to a smart phone.
