@Sea DogI am not proud of these. It was so bright out, and with reflection off of the hull, I could not tell what I was doing...

I always think the lines are too skinny to hold a massive ship in place.

Anchors can only do so much.
Maybe they also have a parking brake??

This morning, on our walk, I thought I would try out one of the things I didn’t know my iPhone could do.  I just read about it being able to identify things, so I gave it a try.

First, I took a picture of something I am quite familiar with this time of year, and I opened it up in photos.  On the bottom, there is an i with a little star by it.

When you click it, it brings up information about the photo, and has a little leaf to look up the plant

When you look up the plant, it give a description

It worked on a common violet.

And this, that I had no idea what it was. A3729840-3555-4F2B-8C7E-51168EB118C6.thumb.jpeg.db1074bfada93c08d3cce83225d75584.jpeg

Evidently, I have found an ingredient for our next salad. 🤣🤣

I don’t want anything in my salad with the word “hairy” in it…

Hila is our (Jack's sister's granddaughter) 15 year old niece in Israel.  She had a spinal stroke a few weeks ago.  Very rare especially for her age.  She was paralyzed but now can use her arms and she can move her feet but can't walk yet. Thank you and everyone in here for the kind thoughts and prayers.

Thank you. It sounds very scary for a 15 year old. I am happy to learn that she is moving in the right direction. Will keep her in my thoughts.

Yesterday was tough, but cathartic.  We buried my Mom yesterday, on what would have been her 91st birthday. Working through the grieving process since she passed, I’ve tried my best to consciously turn my sadness into gratefulness. So lucky to have a mom who filled my life with such unconditional love that could have caused a loss this deep.
Growing up, my mom wanted to be two things: a nurse and a mom. I can say with all confidence she was the best at both.
She worked for over a decade at Swedish Hospital in Seattle as the private surgical scrub nurse for Dr. Bill Hutchinson, one of the best surgeons in the world and the founder of the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center. She may have had THE prime nursing job in Seattle, and was damn good at it.
And she gave it all up, a week before I was born, in the prime of her career at 33, to be a mom. She loved being a mom, always involved in everything my brother and I were doing, from PTA to baseball to soccer to skiing.  We spent a good part of most summers on our boat in the San Juan Islands and on Hood Canal. She told me many times that the happiest time of her life was carrying me, knowing she was going to be a mom.
She and my dad started cruising in the mid-80's, and by the time my dad's health caused them to stop in 2009 after about 25 years of cruising they had been on 35+ cruises, almost all with Royal.  Grateful that they passed their love of cruising on to me 🙂
Appreciate the fact that I can "journal" my thoughts here...

What a lovely tribute to an obviously adored mother!

Today is partly cloudy with expected high of 68.     Yard work day.    @Ozark_KidUndecided if I will plant my seedlings as the forecasters are calling for 2 days back into the 50's and low of 36 later this week.

It’s hard to decide.  I was hesitant planting last week when it forecast 37°  night coming up.  I planted and they were fine.  I read warnings about tomatoes and below 50° weather but it pertains to more mature plant and germination.  My planting buddies convinced me to go for it. I had a few that I planted that did not look as good as I wanted when I planted them.  I seeded next to them and in a few weeks I will decide if the seeded looks better than the original and thin out the weaker looking plants.
When the cost of wood was high last year I made my new beds out of cinder block.  I now have 3 cinder block and 3 wood. Yesterday I spent time filling the holes with dirt so I can plant in them.  My legs are sore today.  My OT SIL recommended I take a day off.  He said don’t risk hurting something before the cruise!  Supposed to get heavy rain this evening and tomorrow.  It has been so windy but I believe it is making the plants stronger. Forecast yesterday said it would drop to 39°  Tuesday but now saying 41°. I have too much out to have to try and cover.

I am glad you posted this.  The family was on the back deck and I heard Sharon say that the tag was gone from her new plant.  When I read this I had her grab her iPhone and try it. She now knows what it is.  I think you have to have the phone software updated for it to work because it didn’t work on our daughter’s iPhone.  It didn’t work on the iPad.

Then I wondered if the Samsung would do it.  The Samsung doesn’t seem to have a library of plants.  It looks up similar looking pics on the internet. This is with any pic, not just plants. Once the pics pop up you can click to see if there is additional information.  To me the iPhone is ideal for looking up plants.  Thanks!

This is how Samsung works.  Find the button that looks like an eye and similar pics will pop up.

Saying goodbye to Haiti and feeling quite peaceful.

We are actually further out than it looks. I took this with the telephoto lense and some zoom. It looks good on my small screen.

Peacefulness feels good and this is how it looks...

I always do that at Le  Miz. As soon as the orchestra plays the first note, the tears come.

Yeah, Le Miz is worse, and Miss Saigon, as well, but I am a romantic.  I realized it when I went to Old Yeller, and when Captain Kirk got caught in the Tholian Web….

Did you have to bring up Old Yeller? You know we Italians are very emotional people.

Well, I got an unexpected email from Royal Caribbean today. It was a Cruise with Confidence Future Cruise Credit. The thing is, I wasn’t expecting any.

The booking number was for a cruise canceled by Covid in April 2020, but we took the cash refund for that one.  The FCC is for $203, and the only thing I can think it would be for is this sailing we booked with free gratuities.

Now I have to seriously search fall cruises, since it has to be used by the end of the year. I can see a visit to Next Cruise next month.

I could never watch Old Yeller or The Yearling after being traumatized the first time.
