Thank you so much !  His knee replacement surgery is on May 5th with admission to the hospital at 5:30 AM and discharged the same day .  Meanwhile, he is super clean with a Hibiclens shower , change of pj’s and sheets every day for 5 days prior.  I don’t remember ever having to do this before any surgeries.  Daughter’s biopsy is on May 9th .

Meanwhile, our canceled Pacific Coastal cruise departs today from our home port .  It would have been a terrific cruise .

Judy

I was going to wait till tomorrow to send my good wishes but I shall do it now .

Sue-in-Ohio,

Did you find out what caused the alarms to go off? Thank God, you, the dogs and the house are safe.

I guess I should have said a little more.

Sunday, I used the oven for a green bean casserole and twice baked potatoes and rolls, now I had to put on warm because things got a little delayed.

So I asked the husband to take the food out of the oven and put on trivets on the island, (we were doing buffet), as I got the rest of the gravy corn and salad ready,  and I should have known not to send a man to do women's work, he must have tipped, spilled or did something to leave drippings on bottom of stove.

Now the stove was just on warm temp, so no smoke signals were sent up because it was not hot enough-------------Until I started the oven at 325 for my ham and scalloped  casserole and once it reached the 325 is when the kitchen looked like the smoking side of a casino and boy did it stink.

So today, spic and span and all I have washed down the complete kitchen, pictures, knick knacks, dog bowls, windows, chairs, pots pans, cupboards.....................................................smells all better, and damn it looks nice.

The woofers are fine, a little shocked yesterday, but all back to normal, never leaving my side.

Take care

PMDAlliance dot org is holding a Zoom session at 3:00 PM EDT on difficulty with swallowing for PD patients . I remember you had previously mentioned you had trouble swallowing a pill .  It is free . You only have to register. I’m not computer literate enough , or cc is not cooperating , to copy the screen shot to you.

Thank you for your good wishes.

I knew the surgery was on someone's birthday this week..lol!  Jim also had to to the Hibiclens shower, etc. before his surgery.🙄

I'm so glad your DD has her biopsy scheduled.  Prayers that all go well, with good news.🙏

Will you be, or have you, booked another Pacific Coastal cruise for several months from now?

So many May birthdays.  Thank you for your nice sentiments.

Yes, we will be rebooking the Pacific Coastal . I was especially looking forward to Victoria and Vancouver.  Our January cruise is our Hawaii round trip from San Diego.

@Sea Dog,  you’ve given us some very good advice .  I hope , you are fully recovered and can now dance a jig if so required.  How is Linda ? She must have been exhausted taking care of your darling pups and looking after you.

Our ortho surgeon mentioned that only the US and Canada prescribe pain meds for knee surgery .  Let’s see in and out the same day and no pain meds and my comment would be après vous ( after you).

Hi, Patti,

How is retirement treating you?  Appreciate the shout out.  Thanks for remembering me even though I haven't posted a cruise report for past few years.  Didn't realize there's a mooring line fan club.  I will be sure to take some pictures in my upcoming Alaska cruise to share for the 5 of us that appreciate them.

I also post urinal pictures in the past.  Have I inspired many lady cruisers from CC to upload their favorite personal pictures online?

Hi Harry! Great photos! I really like being retired, although global pandemic did not figure into my retirement planning. We just returned from a 5-night Navigator cruise out of San Pedro. It was fun, although we hit a cold snap and found that we hadn't packed enough warm clothes. It was our first since the re-start. There were a bunch of cruisers wearing Ensenada hoodies that they purchased onshore. We weren't the only people that were not prepared for the cold weather.

It is always nice to hear from you and see your unique photos! :classic_biggrin:

Ham and scalloped potato recipe.

Ingredients:

7-8 potatoes. ( good medium size) . (Slice into 1/4 inch diameter that they look like big coins).

1/4 cup flour

pinch salt

2 cups milk. ( I use 2%)

1 stick margarine

1 medium onion. Diced
2 pounds of ham. ( I have always used the one on sale from Virginia to chip chop).
1 pound velveeta cheese

Pre heat a clean oven to 325 degrees

spray a deep dish casserole with PAM.

Combine salt,  1 1/2 cup milk and flour and mix well.  (Leave 1/2 cup milk put aside)

into the casserole you will layer.
start by pouring that plain cup milk in casserole
place one layer potatoes try to cover as much of bottom as you can.

1/3 of onion spread over potatoes

1/3 of ham

1/3 velveeta over ham Does not have to completely cover. Spread out.
pour 1/3 cup of milk/ flour mixture.

repeat as above starting with potatoes

potatoes

onions

ham

velveeta

milk mixture

Repeat one last time.

finally cut up stick of margerine and place spreading on top.

The casserole potatoes will not be completely covered with mixture  but will thicken as it cooks and potatoes cook.

cover with aluminum foil

place on oven safe drip pan.

Usually takes 2 hours to cook

cook first 1 1/2 hours covered

remove cover cook last 30 min for golden brown potatoes.

Remove put on trivets to rest and gel for 10 min.

The reason you use 325 temp is you do not want casserole bottom to burn.
and that is why you put plain milk on bottom so flour milk mixture wont burn.

enjoy we do.

So free Norwegian cruise with balcony upgrade, tips, taxes, port fees $1529.00.  We are mulling it over🥴

The "paid" cruise is cheaper, I believe from the emails that NCL has been bombarding me with.😁

We still have $500 in cruise certificates left with them. They expired but Latitudes renewes them everytime we call. (that is twice to be exact)These are not from cancelled cruises but the "book on board" ones. We liked NCL a lot when we cruised with them, and never had any problems, especially the Escape, Bliss and the Gem. I did not care for the BA at all.

We had the pleasure of meeting Lenny and Toby on an NCL cruise out of NYC.

We did a repositioning cruise (12 days) from Oahu to San Diego years ago.  Great trip!!!

Regarding Medical bills, does anyone ever pay the full price?

Every bill I've ever received from a hospital / doctor / dentist / pharmacy would have 3 columns: 1) a "full price", 2) a "discounted / negotiated price"  and 3) the amount insurance company or I had to cover.

The discounted price is always substantially less than the full price. Sometimes when the insurance company only pays a portion of the discounted price,  I don't always have to make up the difference. Even when the insurance company denied coverage for a certain line item, I'd still only be on the hook for the "discounted price" and sometimes even just a portion of it or none of it.  Between deductibles, co-pays and out of pocket maximum (both individual and family), it's like trying to figure out Royal's math.

Speaking of which, it's kind of like Royals Cruise Planner sales. Does any one ever pay full price for the beverage package or excursion? 😉

IF you ever figure it out, please let us know.       😃

We basically just wait and see if a Doctor sends a bill.     i.e. Eric had a recent visit and the EOB showed he would owe just over $600 when he went for the follow up appt. the doc's office told him he had a credit on his acct and did not have to pay for the office visit.       We couldn't figure that one out but heck if someone says there is a credit and nothing owed, I am not going to question.
