I hope you are feeling better now @Jimbo

My go to covid remedy is ...

plus 2 tablets of Airborne...

3 times per day. Morning, early afternoon and evening.

I've had Covid at least 4 times (I stopped testing after the 4th time). All 4 times and any time I had suspected cases never lasted more than 3 days and never got to more than an annoyance with this regimen.

YMMV

Get better soon.

Stay dry Lenny!

Plenty of flooding north of NYC as well.  Once again, for the 2nd or 3rd time this year, we received a month worth of rain in a few short hours. A lot of parkways that were built in the 1920's & 1930's with names like Bronx River Parkway, Saw Mill River Parkway, etc - since they were built next to or on top of those rivers - are flooded. No surprise since water flows to where it's always been.  I learned early in my driving days to avoid roads with the word "river" in the name during heavy rain storms.

Fortunately, I live on high ground. No flooding in my immediate vicinity

My daughter who lives in Manhattan but works in LI is on her way to her house in Delaware County. She is now driving through the Bronx.

It is really very bad where I am,The road that I can see from my terrace door is flooded. We have trees very close to our house that we hope do not hit us.

Of course, you'd want to mention your least successful career.  I haven't watched Survivor in years  but from what I remember, if someone was "too successful"  (i.e. lawyer, pro athlete, etc), they become an immediate target as they were deemed not worthy of winning since they didn't t need the money.

I remember the season with Johnny "Fair Play" telling the story of his dead grandmother who was actually alive & healthy in order to get sympathy votes.  I probably stopped watching the show shortly afterwards.

I gave up watching once and returned years later.

She'll get their safely, it'll just take a long time with all the road closures. Once she gets to the other side of the Hudson River, conditions are much better.  Looking at the weather map, the Hudson seems to be the dividing line, heavy rain to the east, not too much on the west side of it.

My nephew is currently on his way to RI for a car show this weekend. I hope he enjoys his time in the 200 mile long parking lot, formerly known as I-95. Hopefully he packed a sandwich for the trip.

Looks fantastic!  I can see why you love traveling in it so much.  Sure, it might be missing an ocean view balcony but the mountain views you've posted before are pretty nice....and you have a much better shower than a cruise ship. 🙂

And what is this clutter your speak of? It's my dream to get to that level of organization. 😄

So far both son in laws and my 15 year old granddaughter are home safely.

My daughter driving from Brooklyn somehow made it to LI and is about an hour west of where she lives. One problem may be locally because there is only one road that goes north and south through the entire town and we are south of the Southern State Parkway.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience at the dentist today.  He gave me a gallon of numbing agent (needle) but one tooth is very problematic and I felt extreme pain as he was trying to pull it.  He wants me to come back tomorrow to be put under.  He said he feels sorry and that I shouldn't have to experience pain like I did. So, to be continued tomorrow.  He's a top rated oral surgeon so I am sure he knows what he's doing.

So sorry for you Bonnie, tooth pain is awful. I'm such a baby at the dentist but she knows me well and looks after me

What was the point collecting your passport the next to last day?

When we arrived in Boston we had to see usa customs on the ship before departing the ship. I guess they took the pps so this could be done

You are correct, no facial recognition at Boston terminal.  We got stuck in a long line that didn't move for quite awhile.

Any idea how many on our sailing had covid?

There were so few non US folk it actually worked out really well for us.  We had to go to dinning room where we were seen straight away by immigration.   After a couple of questions and inputting of computer info we were shown out-of the MDR and a short walk to exit the ship, no queue 😬

It appeared maybe about 20 cabins (double occupancy).  I'm guessing many more may have had it and not reported to medical, based upon the coughing, etc. we heard early on during the cruise.  We always travel with Covid tests and appropriate meds just in case.  I was grateful we were offered Paxlovid-- I declined due to mild symptoms, but my husband is at higher risk.  He had virtually no symptoms once he started on Paxlovid.

Sorry to hear you got covid. I was also on this cruise and was quite pleased I caught it early August to get it out-of the way.

Hubby's come home with a cold but he's tested twice and it's just a cold, not covid

I'd suggest doing some research before ordering a full-face mask.  We asked about them on a snorkel excursion somewhere (might have been Woodwind in Bonaire) and were told that they don't use those masks.  If you are snorkeling for a longer period of time, carbon dioxide can build up in the mask.

Full-face snorkel mask causes IPO fatality - DIVE Magazine

Thank you for the heads-up, Bob!  Jim does have some of the listed health issues.

The one I have has one way valves so you do not get the carbon dioxide buildup.  Some of the early ones did not have that feature.  I have snorkeled for a couple hours with no problems.  Did meet someone using an old one, a couple years ago, and he was getting light headed using his.

The fit does make a difference.  Susan could not get one of the full face ones to work for her, because of her narrow face.  It is always a good idea to get a good fit and try them out before taking them along the first time.

It's good to know that the newer ones have the one way valves to avoid the problem of carbon dioxide buildup.  I do wish I had ordered them this Summer so I could've tried them out.
