One thing I am a little concerned with is that my ankles and feet swelled up on me like they do on a cruise. So a land based vacation and a cruise based vacation causes the same thing to happen. The two things have two things in common, lot's of good food and drinking alcohol everyday. I am concerned that something might be going wrong with my kidney's or liver or maybe it's just my prostrate not letting me go to the bathroom enough. Either way I need to get this figured out. When I do a 7 day New York City then Buffalo vacation like I will do again in a couple of weeks I have the same thing , but now I have some medicine to deal with that . Keep me updated please. My wife has also struggled in the past with swollen calves, feet and ankles. Especially while flying and cruising. Meds might be better for you, but have you tried compression socks? March 2022 on the second leg of our Caribbean B2B cruise on the Explorer she had a vein blowout. Open wound. Not a pretty sight. We met a couple in the DL one evening and sat next to us in the MDR. They advised (based on their personal experiences) my wife to see a wound specialist when we returned home. To tell ya the truth, we never heard of that kind of specialist. Weird conversation but beneficial to my wife. When we got home she saw a open wound specialist and had excellent repair results. One thing the Dr. suggested/ stressed was to wear compression socks. Traveling or not. Every cruise after 2022 she hasn't had issues with ankle, calves and feet swelling. Always wears her compression socks before getting on the plane. 1

I have them but haven't used them. What's weird is that they do not swell up when I fly to the cruise port. The swelling occurs after several days of eating and drinking and then swell worse on the flight home.

I have that swelling problem also but not my ankles, feet or calf's. 😂 Try and see if the compressions socks work. I know you are a beach/water person. We aren't beach people anymore and she no longer wear shorts. So her compression socks are outta sight. Personally I'd have no issues wearing dark ones with shorts if I had swelling issues.

What's weird is that they do not swell up when I fly to the cruise port. The swelling occurs after several days of eating and drinking and then swell worse on the flight home. Everyone is different. A few cruises back my feet and calves were severely swollen. I took pictures. It took 4-5 days to go down when we got home. At my next doctors appointment I showed him the pictures. He explained my predicament. To begin with; water pills are a quick relief. But it is better to control your intake of food and alcohol. And more importantly walk. He did prescribe water pills just in case (furosimide 20 mg) But I never needed them, I just did some changes. My problem was very poor selection of food. Fried, salty and excessive amounts. Now we request to meet with chef. No added salt and if possible share with us the low salt options. In CK there are a few choices not good ones. But the WJ with lunch selections was my pitfall. Now we are very careful. As far as alcohol goes. On our last 11 day vacation (8 day cruise and 3 land days) I had 3 glasses of wine. 3 frozen strawberry daiquiris and 3 amaretto sour. So in essence one drink a day. So if anyone cruises with me they can have my daily allotment of diamond + (5) drinks. It is nice to have the water pills. Just in case. But. I actually feel better. Now my pitfall is the ice cream scoops for lunch in WJ. Be safe. Edited May 8 by Lionesss 6

FromSea2ShiningSea Posted May 8 #121017 Share Posted May 8 Day 4- 4/12/2024- Osaka, Japan - Today is another long day of tours. For @Sea Dog Greg Lego set of Nijo Castle Nijo Castle- was used as an imperial palace for a while before being donated to the city and opened to the public as a historic site. Cherry trees planted throughout the castle grounds include about 400 trees of the late blooming kind. Therefore, the blooming season at Nijo Castle lasts longer than anywhere in Japan, from late March through the entire month of April. Kinkaku-ji, UNESCO World Heritage site, the Zen temple is commonly known as “Golden Pavilion” Tenryu-ji Temple, ranked among the city’s five great Zen temples was established in 1339. Greg, my kidney doctor told me no compression socks when I sleep. Good advice found in here besides compression socks during the day; feet up if possible when sitting, walking is great, I take a water pill every other day, as little alcohol and salt as possible. You're aware of the problem and I'm sure you'll find the best plan for your health, under a doctor's advice.

It helps when I remember to do it. Lol

Keksie Posted May 8 #121023 Share Posted May 8 FYI no good deed goes unpunished. My husband and I were helping 2 ladies on scooters exit the elevator. It was closing before they could back out. Darned if one of them didn't back right onto my foot. Ouch that is going to leave a bruise.

broadwaybaby123 Posted May 8 #121025 Share Posted May 8 I've done that many times....I work in senior care. If it starts to swell (as mine did once), go have it X-Rayed. Keep it elevated and iced. 2
