True, that it is. I try to tell people that it's not a Zombie show where its all blood and guts and nothing else.  It's a human interest show that just happens to be set in a post-apocalyptic  zombie world. It has a great cast, lots of character development where sometime the good guy is not always so good and sometimes the bad guy has good reasons for being the way he is.  It basically shows how different groups of people interact with each other  and what they are willing to do to survive and build the world back. At some point, the zombie stuff just fades to the back ground & you'll just accept there will be a few bloody killings each episode. But it's usually done to enhance a story line, not to BE the story line.

Agree.  That is what kept me watching the show.  I stopped watching at the end of Season 9 though and I doubt I will watch any of the spin offs.

It's been one year since I retired and it's gone fast. Things I have learned.

1. I love being retired
2. Afternoon naps are the best
3. Raising two puppies (now 1 year old) is a full time job
4. I don't get enough things done around the house because I am too busy doing            nothing.
5. After 3 cruises in one year, I can never get enough of being on a ship.
6. All things I said I was going to do I haven't done yet
7. I spend a lot of time thinking about money
8.  I like exercising and losing weight
9. I like staying at home rather than going out
10.  I've decided I wouldn't change a thing

Congrats on your one year since retirement.

Two years for me this month,

I do miss my job and colleagues and the vibe of the airport. But my job is no longer there so it wouldn't be the same. No more airline ticket desks. You have a problem you have to deal with the call centre

Love that now we have two grandchildren I can spend time with them and helping their parents out.

Also spend a lot of time walking our dog and catching up with friends.

We've done two cruises this year and am itching to get away again but going into winter we would need to fly 7+ hours for warmth.

Wish Royal Caribbean or Celebrity would base a ship in The Canaries or The Med going to the Canaries,  Funchal and other southern ports for the winter or even base a ship in Dubai again

As Ben Franklin said "if you want something done, ask a busy person"    there is definitely truth in that saying.

I was just thinking this yesterday. I use to work full time, bring up a family and walk our (first) dog. Plus I use to be a parent helper at school and run a Beaver Colony (young scouts )

I don't know how I had the energy

Back in the day, I did a typing course so at least I type properly on the work keyboard.

Back in the early 70s I trained as a secretary with typing and shorthand, way before work or personal computers. Little did I realise touch typing would be such a useful skill

On our 7 night Anthem cruise in September I tipped $1 a drink cash but TBH I never saw anyone else tipping.

I always tip $1 a drink for free drinks, but maybe its because I'm from stingy UK but I always think 18% is enough of a tip on other drinks.

We always pre pay our daily tips and always leave more at the end of the cruise to our room steward and wait staff

We are the same Sue and I only tip cash for the free drinks so the bartender's don't lose out.

Off to a black tie dinner tonight. Gary no longer has a DJ and didn't want to buy one or hire one so went round the charity shops and got a perfect fit for £11!

Pics to follow ....

Bargain!  Great idea to source from the charity shop.  DH donated a couple of his good suits  to a charity shop recently.

Hope you have a great time at the event.

I forgot about shorthand.  I took that course in High School.   I used for one secretarial job I had while attending college in mid 80s.    I'll have to see if I remember shorthand.

We do exactly the same as you.  Free drinks we receive from vouchers or when in casino we always tip cash.    We also give room steward cash tip.   Sometimes I do this early on in the cruise and some stewards then go above and beyond with their service.

If we order room service for breakfast, we love having on our balcony, I will tip them extra if they arrive on time.

Did you see any Orcs, Hobbits, Elves, Dwarfs or Harfoots?

I had to Google Harfoots. 😄  Unfortunately no orcas.

They are some of the best photos I’ve ever seen of Milford Sound.  Just beautiful.

Thanks. Unfortunately it was more overcast than sunny and very windy and cold.

Today I’ve been busy and part has been trying to binge watch Amazing Race to catch up on it now that it’s moved to 9pm instead of 10!

meanwhile, Happy Halloween from me and my DD’s cat Jasmine.

Such a pretty kitty. She reminds me of our kitty Chloe.

Amazing photos.  I'm sure even better in person.

Whoever got on Northstar sure was lucky with their timing.

They sure did. Not sure if it went up anymore because it got very windy.

It is the concierge lounge.  When we were on it both times it was closed to D+.  both were repositioning cruises on the Ovation.  One from Singapore to China and the other a TP.  So, I doubt you missed out last cruise.  I have not been in the CL on a Quantum class ship, but I am sure the view is way better than the DL.

JC

The diamond club has windows, but it's on deck 4 so the view isn't as great. It is better than a lot of other dungeon diamond lounges.

I guess spooky was nit the best word to use but couldn't come up with another at the moment.  Whatever you want to call it, it just didn't appeal.  Maybe will have to go back and try it at some point, a lot of people seem to love it.  Have more than enough shows we are watching right now but will keep it in mind.

I took typing and shorthand in school.  Had thought I would be a secretary until I got married and had kids.  Did it for a few years where I did use both.  At my second company my boss asked why I was doing the job as he felt could do much more.  They had a training program for programmers he got me into.  Did that for a while and worked my up into management areas for IT, kept working even with the kids.  Typing was a great thing to know, shorthand not so much although I can still remember some of it but very slow now.

I've not been on here as much lately, so I'll reply quickly to a few posts here...

Congrats Greg on your 1 year retirement date.  I remember thinking about my 1 year date, but completely forgot about it on my second year date.  I think that's a good thing.

I'm a fast 2-4 finger typer.  I'll occassionally throw in a 5th or 6th finger but that's purely from years of repetition.  I also took typing in high school but all I remember is the exercise to learn the middle row, finding the "home" position with index fingers on f and j (that have little bumps on them so you can find them easily) and then typing a ; s l d k f j g h using different fingers.  It was drilled into our brains such that I haven't forgotten 40+ years later.

Have you been to Batavia, we sometimes spend a night or two there on our trips , close to my wife’s family, they have a casino and racetrack (casino is slots only) but there is a Thurman Thomas bar , also they recently opened a small hotel in casino. My wife’s best friend and husband will escape the cold of Buffalo to spend New Year’s Eve with us in Buffalo, he has bills season ticket .

I can't sit on the aisle. When I fall asleep, my foot (either one) tends to wander into the aisle. And I would probably trip people. We were flying back from NOLA, and I had an aisle. I would doze off, and then repeatedly awoken with a very kind "Excuse me" from people trying to get past. ☺️

I'm fortunate, Bill lets me take the window, and he takes the middle seat.

My Wife is the same, I  have yet to sit in an aisle seat when 3 person in a row.

Only time I get an aisle seat is when we travel on Southwest and the plane is full.

Okay now when traveling on a Southwest flight what do you do so no one sits in the row with you. What tactic works best?

Reading a book? and never looking up at the people walking in looking for seats?

Box of tissues in the empty middle seat with used tissues all around seems to work best. 🤣😲

I have given up on trying to catch up on my review. To many things to do on the cruise so I'll just keep plugging away at it as I can.

We appreciate any post you can do. Enjoy yourself first. We will be here for you.

Speak ING of typing, has anyone tried the techy of drawing lines between letters to top type? I just did.  I had to delete severable words.  I left a few to show an example of what it looks like when done. It actually looks better than I thought it would.  Plus to can click on words it guess. I think if I used it more it would be quicker.
