OMG, meet my wife.  She loves the Indian food on the ships, but loves it even more when it comes spicy.  There have been times I'm sweating with tears flowing and she's all "yeah, there's a little kick to it."  🤣🥵

Reminds me of Along Came Polly.

It is 19°F here right now and they are talking about snow for the beginning of next week. Winter has decided to arrive.😡😡😡😡

Sounds like you need another cruise. We can only take one more 8 day cruise between now and next January 27th. I want to get a block on the Icon since it will probably be a one and done for us. At least we still have Bella’s cruise, a British Isles cruise and a TA.

Absolutely! We never open the windows!

We love opening the windows, but it is rare. So far this year we haven’t been able to open them. The 2 times it was cold enough to we were on cruises. Hate missing what little cold weather weather we have.

I am several days, and several pages behind, but I hope to catch up today.  I want to thank everyone who was praying for my daughter’s surgery.  According to the surgeons, her surgery went well, but they did not commit too much beyond that.

The surgery was very long.  They took her in for prep at 11:30 am on Wednesday, and it was after 9 pm before she got out of observation.  Now we wait for results from biopsies, to see if there is more chemo ahead.  Hopefully we will know more after appointments over the next couple weeks.

Meanwhile, Susan and I have been there to take care of getting the kids to school and picked up after school, as well as taking care of her and doing things around the house.  She isn’t allowed to do much of anything for at least a couple weeks.

And, on another note, DIL is feeling better after her bout with.Covid, but now my son has it, and his symptoms are worse than hers were.

Hoping her biopsies come out clean and she is cancer free.

I woke up to 44°F and thought it was to cold ❄.

My phone updated last night so I switched back to the Samsung keyboard.  It still is giving me problems here so I had to go back to the Microsoft keyboard.  No big deal, I have grown used to it.

What kinds of problems do you have with the Samsung keyboard?

I definitely believe that you should get a free cruise.I never got an e-mail congratulating me for accumulated posts.

Back in the day when CC had contests I won numerous times and received real prizes, not key chains .

The hospital doctors seem to think there is a kidney problem.  He is seeing a kidney specialist and just saw him two weeks ago.  We tried to explain to them that his numbers were normal for him. Anyway, we will see the specialist again.  It is very frustrating dealing with doctors who are not familiar with  heart transplants.  As I am sure Debbie and Eric know, their labs are never normal!

once again we appreciate all your good wishes. Thank you

Oh yes, we know all so well about lab work.   NO, such thing as "normal" labs.    We, also, know that most Doctors in a hospital or an ER do not always know how to handle transplant patients.   Eric has had some that want to make changes to his meds then he gets home and does a follow up with his transplant Dr who tells us NO he is Not allowed to take that med for x y z reason.

I hope Charlie is in good spirits and all goes well with his follow up visits.

…I will say Owen took notice of how the university aged waitresses fawned over the firefighters as they drove up.  He posed out loud, that he might like that as a profession over police officer or sports broadcaster/cameraman.  Sorry @Sea Dog

He’s still not buying airline pilot or cruise ship captain.…

Being a commercial pilot wouldn’t be bad. Mike is home a lot more than most people in our income bracket. This month he’s away 9 nights, but it’s usually 12 to 14 nights a month. Depends on the hours of each trip. The first night of a trip he usually leaves around 8:00pm so he is home most of that day and the last night of the trip he gets in around 6:30am so he is home that day. Being a ship captain sounds like fun except they are away from home a lot. As for being a firefighter that’s a noble profession, but don’t a lot of them end up having more lung issues than the general population? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Being a police is also a noble profession, but I wouldn’t want bullets flying at me!

If Owen has a questions even just for the fun of it Mike would always be happy to talk to him.

It was ok just not for me. I would have rather seen the city. If I remember right there wasn’t a lot excursions that took you to the airport afterwards. It was warm in there but not uncomfortable. I forget the name of the place but they are pretty famous for their glass figurines.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks Debbie, I knew you would understand.  His kidney function has been treated by a specialist which we told them.  They wanted to change some of his meds and they can’t grasp the concept of heart transplant!

About 30 years ago we went to a party at a friends house we worked together and were both transferred to Dallas in 1982. At the party we were asked to take a picture of a large group about 20 people, turns out they were all survivors of heart transplants , she out lived her husband and lived about 30 years after the transplant.

Since the title of this thread is how are things going where you are, I will relate a recent experience. As everyone knows California had a significant weather event this week.  We own a cabin in Big Bear California which is at an altitude of 7,000 ft. We went up to our cabin on Tuesday. The snow started Tuesday night and did not let up until Saturday. It was awesome. We got over two feet of snow. The wood burning stove cranked out the Heat and my lovely wife cranked out some lovely dinners.  We got a break in the weather on Sunday and we took advantage of it and made a break for home.  We had to hire some local fellows to dig our car out. image.thumb.png.0c6ea869620fb530e7e197a1141bb330.png

Nice looking cabin.

Thanks George, we have done that previously.  We are looking forward to the outdoor pizza place we stumbled upon near where the ferry is located too for lunch again.  Last time we visited we couldn’t get crown tickets.  Speaking of Hamilton, we went to our local theatre for the traveling version of Hamilton Friday night.  I have never seen so much security at the theatre.  They even scanned us for weapons entering.  Never have I seen that at our theatre and we have being going to this venue for the entire 25 years it has been open.

Why would they be having such security for the Hamilton play?

Pretty daring, Mexican food before a wedding................Reminds me of the movie "Bridesmaids"  😲

Melissa McCarthy's character Meghan: "Look away, look away!  It's coming out of me like lava"  Jack found no humor in it and I couldn't stop laughing.

I've been looking at cruises but prices are ridiculous between now and April. I don't know if I'll be booking Icon any time soon. I don't know enough about the ship yet. I'm kind of surprised how much I liked Odyssey even with some design querks that I didn't care for.

Yup, cruise lines have stopped downlining.  Read on a recent review that someone with a family member dying back at home was not granted permission by port authority/customs to disembark early.

Most cases the ship and/or passenger get fined a sizeable amount $$$$

That sucks. They should at least make exceptions for such situations.

I didn’t know they were doing them in color now or are you messing with us?

So RCI in its infinite wisdom has a new "upgrade" for us Emeralds+.  We no longer have the choice of a welcome beverage to be placed in our cabin.  There goes my can of diet coke to be replaced with water.   I know it's such a minor thing but that was a perk we enjoyed.

We’re thrilled to announce you’ll no longer have to pre-select your welcome beverage prior to your sailing. You will now receive additional complimentary water bottles in your stateroom in place of the welcome beverage benefit — so you can stay hydrated everywhere you go. The complimentary waters benefit will begin March 10, 2023.

Another cost cutting measure. Water was always a choice as was soda.  Now it's a given.

They're "thrilled" taking away my diet coke.  Rats!

Is it Charlie's creatinine they are looking at?     Eric runs anywhere from 1.3 to 1.8 on most labs and some doctors question that as being high but transplant doc says that perfectly normal range for a transplant person.

Our special men are a delicate balance and when they start messing around with meds it can be very frustrating.
