Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" ​ 😁 ​day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Not us... I arrived a couple of minutes early (the invite was for 11am), finding parking, elevator to 5th floor (we try to find an empty elevator...), etc. While looking for parking, I saw, on the corner of my eye, 2 of the other "girls" waiting in the car for the "gong".... 

 

I parked, and called out to them: "Let's go, we'll be the 3 arriving first 😉"

 

We stayed until 5PM.... yes, and at the door, joked that next time we'll bring pyjamas, just in case 😁

 

 

 

Not so close (us being a country which can be driven from south to north in 8 hours), but still mch closer than you.... One lives 1.5 hours, on 1 hour, I live 30 min and the luckiest one -- just 10 min drive.

 

Still sounds nice to me to be within a day and not have to do hotels to see them. One who still lives in ohio flew down my last cruise on vista, and said next time she wants to do rcl. I had to time my drive to pick her up at houston airport. 

 

I saw the avocado. Now I want some lol. Avocado makes anything better. Time to shop. They are on sale right now at aldi. Time to run to the store, ....seriously. I couldnt tell what those long things were on the plate but someone went out of their way to place them artistically.

Don't let it scare you, you're still young.  I'm 50 now and, while I've enjoyed a very successful career, I still wish I could turn back the clock 30 years to pursue my childhood dream of being a Dr.  Counting the days (years, really) till retirement now.  2030 is my goal.  Hopefully Covid will finally be gone by then 😁

I had my first Pfizer Vaccine yesterday afternoon and only have a slight muscle pain in my arm.

Don't get me wrong -- I think that ALL of us would agree that we'd very much be now either on a cruise, or planning, booking, checking shore excursions options, dinner & entertainment on ship, FF miles, points for hotels, etc.

 

I miss reading trip reviews ( @singinalot), live from the flow rider ( @A&L_Ont), the 4 monsters ( @Yorkvillain), Rick's pineapples ( @CruiseLifeRick), etc.  Oh, I've almost forgot Cheapo Dad's reviews ( @harryfat1) 😁 , and, I'm sure, many many others.

 

I miss opening a Word file with all the tips, and updating it with the newest reviews.

 

I miss checking reviews in TripAdvisor regarding tours, restaurants and hotels.

 

This thread is a very nice "understudy" until we'll cruise again...

Thank you for starting this thread Dani.

I had my first Pfizer Vaccine yesterday afternoon and all well so far just a slight pain in my arm at the vaccine injection point.

The consultant was pleased with my eyes progress yesterday morning but said their was a slight increase in eye pressure so stopped the steroid drops.

I am delighted so far with my clear distance sight without varifocals now the Epiretinal Membrane has been pealed and I have an IOL fitted after the cataract op.

SC has some beautiful areas...but too cold in the winter for us, and too hot and much more humid in the summer than Florida.  We have more "natural A/C" being surrounded by the ocean.  

 

Plus we love being near the "drive to" ports here in Florida.  

My friend grew up in NYC ,moved to Fla and retired in Fort Mill,SC.

Conversely another friend moved from NYC to Charleston and loved living there.

I'm about 2 hours away, in the other direction.  Used to make day trips there but the drive back gets to be very loooonnng in the evening. So now it's overnight if I can get a decent rate at the casino or just stay at a local place in Mystic or Groton. 

 

In 2011 I became friendly with a guy posting on CC.He lived in CT and I in NY.He asked if I wanted to come with my wife and meet him and his wife for lunch in Mystic,CT.

My wife said she has no desire to be in a car 5 hours to have lunch with people that she does not know.I bribed her by saying on the way home we could go to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.The bribe worked because we went.We entered the restaurant at 11:30 and became so engrossed in conversation that we were still there at 5:30 when they were preparing for dinner,We never got to the casino but made a wonderful friendship.

Every day we have updates about the efficiency of Pfizer's vaccines. So glad u got one of those. The results are to be published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which is one of the leading medical journals in the world ( @Ocean Boy).

 

And, that, after 3 weeks, the eye is constantly improving 💐.

 

Keep up the "good work", and.... welcome back 👍.

First of all, in a slight jokingly mode, Marcello Mastroianni said in his famous movie "La Dolce Vita" that life starts at 40 😉

 

Seriously, as far as I read you, you're a "people's gal", interacting excellent with others. Many during this pandemic decided that life is "unexpected" and better spend it doing whatever you can and like.

 

One of my BFF, after being a teacher for years, decided at 40 that she wants to be "freelance" and got her real estate license.

 

It was not easy at the beginning, you need connections, a very thick skin, and perseverance. But, most importantly, she was working for the "butter" and not for the bread.

 

If you have, financially, Nate's back up, you should do OK 👍.

Being near a large, undeveloped area of woods, fields and lakes, I have all sorts of the typical little woodland creatures - raccoons, skunks, groundhogs possum, chipmunks, moles, etc. etc. Plenty of hawks and turkey vultures too.  Once a year or so, a lost bear will wander thru then find its way back.

 

 

I also get all of that...but so far...no bears.   Though I do have Alligators.  😉

We also have a mango tree. I often see the mangos with just a few bites out of them. They are usually still hanging so I always thought it was the birds and the squirrels. We do have raccoons running along the seawall so it must be them also.

 

My sister has Iquanas running along her seawall at her 2nd home in the Florida Keys.  They eat all the flowers.
