It will be interesting to see if Carnival can actually sell the six ships or if they will send them to Alang for scrap.

I saw a story earlier that said scrapping was on the table as well.

Here is a Princess ship currently for sale:

And isn't this a HAL ship?

Here is a great site to see which ships are available; I see the Radisson Diamond is for sale again.

Apollo's Steve Martinez resigns as NCLH director, effective immediately.  Wondering if anything else emerges from the shareholder meeting.

In a filing, NCLH said the resignation did not involve a disagreement with the company on any matter relating to its operations, policies or practices.

Earnings release season is upon up.  CCL parent came out today - I'm sure there will be a lot more analysis to come, but as the cruise lines don't operate in vacuums, I thought some might be interested in one take on CCL

NCLH next earnings release is expected on August 13, 2020 based on historical trends.

Poor old Diamond!

And the Princess ship is the remaining R ship.  Oceania or especially Azamara might snap it up if the timing was different.

So maybe CruiseCritic members should start a crowdfunding page in order to get cruising again 😉

If the crowdfunding goes well then this would be the ship:

If not then maybe we will have to make do with this one:

The Pacific Princess has been for sale for at least seven years.

NCLH agreed to purchase Ocean Princess in late 2014 for delivery in early 2016 at a significantly lower price than the offering on Pacific Princess. I recall hearing, or reading somewhere, that 50 million was the price.

I wonder if all the old "R" ships will end up as scrap over the next few years.

I am guessing that this may the first of many that will be scrapped over the next few years. Not certain if the order book for new ships will be paused.

This is a great article, very interesting to see what Genting is doing particularly.

Did you mean to say Carnival?  Or are you referring to a different article about Genting?

Why would Genting i particular be of interest?  Curious!  Anyway, here is an article about their protocols https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Genting-implementing-new-health-protocols-for-cruise-ships

Nothing new here; NCLH will go into bankruptcy at some point and FdR will be removed.

Marc

Don't forget FdR will leave with a very nice package, while loyal Regent customers will be left wondering what will happen to their deposits...

Wishful thinking on your part.  Frank Del Rio isn't going anywhere.  These posts are quite misleading - based non nothing.

If you have travel insurance it should cover bankruptcy (if needed). Allianz covers it on their WWTP programs....I am sure others do as well.

What is. your "take" on November cruises becoming wait-listed.  Our TA feels that it may be due to the new capacity limits.
