Since my NSTEMI in December I have only had 18 units of alcohol so it wouldn't be any use for me.

Thankfully our next cruise is not until next February and pray the virus is totally under control by then.

Yes, I have the right to LIFE.  That right is the first and most important.  When others refuse to wear a mask, they are threatening my very life!  Why is that so hard to understand?

How many 100s of thousands are dead every year from drunk driving/stoned car accidents?.....No more booze and no more driving, shut them all down.......really????

LOL...You are right sorry. However you are not counting STONED driving, nor are we counting permanently disfigured, burnt, crippled, and otherwise bed ridden/disabled survivors.

Then you should definitely stay away from people not wearing masks.  Go near them, I guess it's your choice to "threaten your life".

If I do not want to be in a certain situation it is my responsibility to avoid it. I don't expect the situation to avoid me.  If I viewed every patient I encounter as threatening my life I would spend the day paralyzed. It must be hard for you these days viewing anyone without a mask as life threatening.

 

Kind of funny how three months ago most folks would have considered someone wearing a mask as a possible life threatening person to avoid.

This is a false equivalency. 

 

Driving serves a legit purpose. Getting Covid-19 does not. But if you are suggesting that it's okay for people to die of CV19, then are you suggesting it's okay to drink and drive and just accept that people may die?

Using this logic, it's okay for people to smoke anywhere on the ship.  And if people are worried they get sick from second hand smoke, they should just stay away from smokers if they feel their "life is being threaten". 🙄

I would not cruise if wearing a mask is mandatory. I don't like the way it feels for long periods of time. But that is really the only legit reason for not wanting to wearing a mask.  Some of the reasons people are giving are borderline silly. They can't be serious and must be posting them for my amusement. 🙂

 

Six weeks ago, in New York, testing showed that 15%-26% tested positive to CV19, depending on where in the state you lived. NYC was the highest at 26%

 

Today, the is down to 1-2% across the entire state, including NYC. The numbers don't lie, wearing a mask saves lives.

Well said, but sadly no matter how we try to be scientific and logical, a percentage of folks will choose not to hear or understand.  Like you, I live in New York (City) and know the horrors of this pandemic.  Those living in other, less populated areas of the country will not believe until it comes to their neighborhoods and to members of their own families!

Thank you for making the point!  Indeed, there are vaccines for the flu.  There are none for COVID-19.

 

In addition, if you contract COVID-19, you are much more likely to die than if you get the flu!

Ok I know this will be a hot topic but please just accept everyone's thoughts and opinions for theirs.

That being said...there is a lot of discussion about the possibility of wearing facemasks onboard your cruises.  My thoughts are, I don't care I I have to wear a mask AS LONG AS I DON'T HAVE TO BE NEAR SOMEONE SMOKING.  The mask will pick up the smoke smell and until you change out your mask all you will smell is smoke.  So the casino with smoking and having to walk by the casino to get elsewhere aboard will foul your mask.  Now casinos are reopening as no smoking, maybe the ship can do that also?  HUM?  Don

That's a good point with smoke getting into the mask.  Smoke gets into clothing, so the mask won't be any different.  I think it would be a good idea that as long as masks are required in the casino, there is no smoking.  Then again, I am not a smoker so maybe I am biased.

BlerkOne, For an 8 day cruise for 3 persons and changing out only 3 times a day will be 72 masks needed.  Not counting any other needed changings before, during or after a cruise.  Let's not forget masks for the plane for those that fly.  Maybe if Carnival is requiring masks, Carnival will supply them for the cruisers? 

atanac, you are correct, this mask thing could really be a moot point.  With the CDC suspending cruising until September 30, Carnival can very well cancel out the rest of the year.  Don
